You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality. Steve Podcast, I’m your host reality. Steve, thank you all for tuning in on this Friday. We got a lot of Big Brother to talk about last night, premier episode. 90 minutes last night. Got a lot of thoughts on what we saw. We’re gonna talk about some of the contestants.
Hey, somebody from my alma mater is on the show, did not know that until last night. Also, wanna talk a little bit about Bachelor in Paradise Ratings that came out. And I wanna dip into Love Island quickly, even though I’m not watching it. I’m well aware of Sierra getting kicked off the show for a video that resurfaced from back in 2024 where she used an Asian slur.
She has apologized online and I have some thoughts on this and we’ll get to all that momentarily. Let’s get started with the Big Brother Premier last night. Season 27 is now underway. What you saw last night was filmed on Tuesday. And I believe into Wednesday, but maybe it was just Tuesday and Sunday’s episode is gonna cover everything from Wednesday up until Sunday, but we got to see all the intro videos of the contestants, see what they had to say.
I don’t want to go over 16 contestants that would take me forever. A couple things jumped out at me. Number one, Ashley is a Loyola Marymount graduate. That’s where I went to college, so I guess I’m rooting for her. Maybe try and get her on the podcast once this thing is all over. Although, CBS, they are, I’m not one of these people.
I’m not a Mike Bloom. I’m not a Tarn Armstrong. I’m not a Dalton Ross. I have not been covering this show for years. So my access, not a Sharon Tharp, my access to these people. I don’t even know if I can get any. All I know is, and, and I don’t know if it has changed, but back in 2020 when I was dating Kat and she had a podcast at the time, she would get an interview with the Eliminated contestant from Big Brother.
She’d do it from my house. She’d come over and she’d record it from my house. But she literally, if I remember correctly, we’d watch the episode together. She’d be over, we’d watch the episode together, and within like, I think like within 30 minutes or an hour of the show ending, she had to send five questions to CBS of what she wanted to ask the eliminated contestant on eviction night.
Maybe it had to be submitted by the next morning, but she was always working on it that night. And then when she recorded with that eliminated contestant, once they were evicted, I, did she record the next day? Were they done on Fridays? I don’t even remember. Probably right. They eliminated Thursday nights.
They evicted on Thursday nights, I think on Friday is when she got to interview them. However. Kat had to record herself asking the question, and then those evicted contestants who were then by that point put in a hotel room were read the question that Kat had submitted, so she didn’t even get to physically talk to them.
If I’m not mistaken, I think maybe it’s changed in recent years, but. I don’t think you get more than five questions. You don’t get to do a 30, 45 minute podcast with eliminated contestants. And that’s the way they roll. Now, maybe for the bigger names, maybe for the Dalton Rosses and the Mike Blooms and, and Sharon Tharps.
Maybe they do get more time. I don’t even know, but I just remember the way it was back in 2020 with Kat, and maybe that was a different time and, and things have changed. But yeah, she had to submit five questions and then those people. Those eliminated contestants would be read and they would send a video back answering her question, and then she had to splice together her five questions and their five answers.
That’s how she put her podcast together, and those podcasts were like eight to 10 minutes long. So I don’t even know if Kat still has her podcast, to be honest with you. I don’t know what she does. Maybe she just does it on YouTube. Maybe she does it on Twitter. I have no idea. But I, that’s the way it rolled back then.
Either way. I don’t know what this means for me possibly getting Ashley on once she gets eliminated or wins this show. I’ve never dealt with CBS, I have no idea what they think of me. I’ve never asked for a contestant from their show, although, wait a second. I did get Taylor Hale and she was a winner, and I got her What I, oh gosh.
I don’t even remember how far after Taylor’s season I had her on, but. That wasn’t a situation where I reached out to CBS, I think I just, DMD Taylor and I said, how can I get you on the podcast? And she put me in touch with somebody. I, I guess, you know what, I’m gonna go back and look in how I got Taylor on because it’s still in my Instagram messages.
So I don’t know if I’m only given like, Hey, reality, Steve send in five questions and they can answer. I, I’m not gonna do it that way. Let the, let the other people who cover it and then you’ve been reading all these years. The Rob has a podcast people and Sharon and Dalton and Mike Bloom and Taryn let them do those interviews.
I’m more interested in, can I get somebody on the podcast after the season? But you’ll be hearing me talk Big Brother all season long. There’s no doubt about that. The only other intro that I wanted to talk about was Riley’s because he is the one rumored to currently have a baby mama that is one month from delivering.
He never told her he was going on the show. Now, did I expect him to say that in his intro video? No, I didn’t. But in his intro video, unless I missed it, I thought he already had children. To not even bring up The fact that you have children I think is kind of weird and kind of a red flag. And honestly, I have not dug further into this story with Riley and the baby mama.
I, I, I think it’s true, but again, I don’t know what Riley’s stance on this is. Maybe he’s already told the baby mama months ago, I don’t wanna be any part of your life. If it’s my kid, great. I don’t want any part of it. And she’s just coming out saying, Hey, everybody just wanna let you know I’m doing a month.
It’s Riley’s and he’s a deadbeat. So if anybody can lead me in the right direction. Not of getting this woman on the podcast. I, I don’t expect that to happen, but can you find me where somebody, one of the big brother recaps is talking about this or maybe has more answers to this and it, and how true it is, and is this gonna end up being a bigger deal?
Is it gonna blow up or what? That’s what I don’t know. Okay. You know, my thing with Big Brother, I think it’s very corny and I think it’s very cheesy. And I think they, more often than not, some things live up to the hype, but more often than not, they overhype and under deliver. And again, I do think last night kind of did that in a couple aspects because when we heard about all these twists on night one, oh, there’s gonna be a mystery house guest we’ll get to in a second.
But there’s gonna be an accomplice and there’s gonna be. Some weirdo dude that looks like Darth Mall from the Star Wars franchise, that’s gonna pop on the screen. And again, I really relate this to AI from last year, Ainsley. Whether Ainsley comes on the screen and says, this is what you guys need to do, here’s your next mission, or here’s your next challenge.
That’s really all that person did. Yeah. They’re a lot weirder looking and they look like Darth Mall and they have a red face and a giant circle on their head that looks like what the HOH artifact was, but. What did they really do? All they did was give them instructions of what was coming next. Now, maybe they have of their stuff planned this season and it’s gonna be a little more gamey than that, but what they did last night, other than looking weird was just say, Hey, Julie’s missing, and so is the HOH artifact.
Go find it. Take a scroll. Eight of you will be going to look for Julie. Eight of you’ll be playing a game to try and find the right artifact. That’s all it really was. Ooh. He interrupted. Julie and Julie disappeared. Julie’s the host of the show. Where do you think she was going? She’s like, come on. And then Julie had to play, you know, again, the corniness of Julie placing the phone call.
Guys, I can’t talk very long. He has me, he has me in a room. Oh God.
This is where the show drives me nuts and is so campy. Were you scared when Julie made that phone call? Did you think Julie Chen was missing from the show? Did you think the host of the show for 27 seasons was all a sudden just not gonna be around once the challenges started? Did you think somebody wasn’t gonna find Julie?
