Daily Roundup 8/20 – Thoughts from Monday’s BIP, Allyshia Goes Scorched Earth on Nick’s Podcast, & Jillian Michaels Calls Out the Netflix Doc on “The Biggest Loser”

You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality. Steve Podcast, I’m your host reality. Steve, thank you all for tuning in on this Wednesday. A good show for you today. I finally got around to watching Bachelor Paradise last night to give you my thoughts on last night’s episode, but we can kind of not spend too much time on that because the news coming outta Bachelor in Paradise yesterday was Alicia going on the vial files.

Anybody that calls it the vial files is just catering towards Nick. His last name is Nick Vial. You can’t just change your last name to, so it rhymes with your podcast title. It’s the vial files. She was on it yesterday and we’re gonna discuss what she said. Jillian Michaels, the former trainer on the Biggest Loser, responded because she was not part of the fit for TV documentary on Netflix that’s airing right now.

She wasn’t part of it. She declined to be part of it. Well, she gave her thoughts on it yesterday on Instagram interviews, and we will discuss that among other things here in the television world. So let’s get started. Finally got around to watching Bachelor Paradise last night from Monday, and it certainly took a turn because this was, Sean and Alicia have been there for a while.

Well, Sean has, Alicia obviously came after him, but I wouldn’t say they’ve gotten much screen time all season. Alicia, a little bit because she had a thing for Dale. But Sean, while he’s been there, hasn’t really gotten much screen time. Monday’s episode was all Shawn all the time, and he really turned it into a game.

And here’s the thing that I, I think people might be losing in all of this, is that. This is no defense of Sean or coming down on Sean. I just wanna explain what was happening at the time of this episode. These contestants know that there is some sort of prize for $5,000, but just as we, the viewers have no idea exactly how this money situation plays out this season, neither do any of the contestants.

They just know there’s a $500,000 prize, but they have no idea how it’s going to be dispersed. Do you have to win a final challenge? Do you win it as a solo? Can you win this $500,000 for yourself? Do you have to split it with your partner? Is it kind of like a bachelor pad situation where you’re gonna have to determine, do you want to keep it or share it?

All this stuff? Not only do we not know what the hell is going on and how it’s dispersed, neither did they at that time, and I still don’t know. I mean, I gave you all the spoilers for the rest of the season, the eliminations and whatnot. The drama that’s happening. Coming up in the next couple episodes, but I don’t know how the money is.

Situation is. It goes, I think it might go to more than one couple, and it’s split a certain amount of ways. I just, I, I don’t know. I just know the one thing we do know is all seven couples that aren’t, or eight couples that don’t make the final two, which are Alex and Andrew and Spencer and Jess. Those eight couples returned to the show in some form or fashion, and.

I don’t know if they’re the ones who determined we’re giving all this money to them, or we’re giving some to them and some to them. I, I, I do not know how it works, but when you look at Monday’s episode, I can see where Sean was coming from. Now. He was gaming a hundred times more than anybody else was, and I think that was the mistake.

Like you have every right to be like, wait, there’s money on the line. I think somebody said it in the episode, I can’t remember who it was, but they basically said he’s playing Survivor and he kinda was. He was going in game mode while everybody else there. It didn’t seem like they were as focused on let’s get the top couple out.

They were just like, Hey, we’re enjoying our time here. You know, whether or not you wanna believe them. They were all saying, we’re here for love, kind of really don’t care about the money. We’ll deal with the money when we kind of know what it’s about, but it’s also. Pretty much out of our hands. We don’t know if it’s like, Hey, you can go win it yourself, then yeah, maybe they would get in money focused mode and game mode.

Sean just looked like he jumped the shark a little bit too early, going into game mode. I think he would probably admit that now. I don’t know. It just seems like he was playing so hard of a game at a time in the process where he probably didn’t need to and. Like I said, I totally understand what he’s saying.

If it’s all about, hey, the couple that is strongest, if they’re here last, they’re gonna win the money, why don’t you as a gameplay try and get the strongest couple out? There’s something wrong with that logic, but when no one else was thinking that, it just pretty much fell on deaf ears and you saw how everybody reacted to him.

Jeremy and Spencer and Andrew are just like, man, I, I. Just stop it with the gameplay. We don’t need this right now. So I do believe his head was in the right place if he was playing a game for money. And at that time they all thought they were, or it’s like Sean was thinking three steps ahead of everybody else and everybody else just wasn’t in game mode.

And maybe that’s where Sean’s mistake was. He should have realized once he started talking game and. Putting together the Parliament of Paradise that none of the other guys were really all that into it. He probably just should have laid back and he just kept putting his foot down on the pedal and I think that’s where things went wrong for him.

And clearly they were getting voted out. They ended up eliminating themselves. But you heard Jesse say, well, they were going home anyway and then Brian and Parisa go home. But yeah, as as people that are watching this and as people. We don’t know how the money’s being played out. And I know that the contestants during that time, they didn’t know either.

It wasn’t explained to them how this money situation was happening. So I applaud Sean for the gameplay and maybe that should get him on a traitor’s type show, or maybe he should go play Survivor. And I think this is where maybe there is some disconnect from the people that are watching the show. The complaints that I have seen personally to me and in the comments on the spoiler Instagram post that I had from Friday is people just don’t like the game aspect of it.

And honestly, to those people, I’d say I, I, I, I don’t know what to tell you because for the longest time when Bachelor Paradise was what it was for nine seasons, do you know how many times I had people emailing me or commenting on social media? I wish they’d bring back bachelor pad. So, like I said, just like they tried to change it up and change up the look, at least they’re attempting stuff.

Hell, last week’s episode was the most watched episode of the season and that’s what episode seven. So it looks like it’s gaining momentum as the show is dwindling down and only has now two episodes left. I did not see Monday night’s ratings just yet, but I know last week’s episode was the most watched episode of the season.

So. Again, when you look at social media and you look at people’s comments, that doesn’t mean it’s the majority because a bunch of people behind nameless, faceless accounts and screaming into the void on the cesspool of garbage sites, it that’s not that. That doesn’t mean it’s the majority, so. I mean, there’s nothing that says you can’t dislike the money aspect of the show and changed it.

But

last, in Monday’s episode, Sean was the one that was focusing on it the most. If all these people were money hungry and like, Ooh, Sean, great, great idea. Let’s try and do this and let’s try and vote these people out, and they don’t deserve to be here. ’cause they’re gonna win if they get to the end. It’s like Jeremy and Bailey, Alex and Andrew, Kat and Dale, they weren’t all about money.

They seemingly were there to be like, Hey, Sean, tap the brakes a little bit. Let’s stop talking about money and let’s talk. Stop talking about game and scheming. And in Sean’s best aspect, which is where I can see his side of things is, guys, there’s money up for grabs. If you honestly think that Spencer and Jess sticking around is gonna do good for you.

You got another thing coming, which he obviously ended up being right about in the end. ’cause we know that Sean and Jess end up quote unquote winning this thing or at least getting money out of it. So yeah, I see both sides. But to sit here and say on social media, oh, this ruined the show. I don’t think it ruined the show at all.

First off, we have to see how the rest of the season plays out. I think what this show’s gonna have to do though is going into next season of Bachelor Paradise. Now the couples going in. ’cause when all these couples signed up for it, they did not know. They didn’t, they said things, you know, I’m sure they were told things would be different, but they didn’t know money was gonna be involved.

So until they got there, and Jesse told them after the fourth row ceremony. So I think next year this show has to worry about people. We know people are gonna talk before going down to Paradise, but you might have people literally putting together fake relationships to try and just win money. But again, we have to see how it plays out.

We have to see how this money is given. If it’s given to everyone else comes back and votes, who’s the strongest couple? And then the strongest couple is automatically given $500,000 to split two 50 each. Then yeah, I think the, the show is gonna probably have to change things up for next year. ’cause that might be way too easy for people to lie in scheme pre-show.
