Daily Roundup 10/6 – More Thoughts on the Taylor Swift Album, How the Online Discourse is Similar to the Bachelor Franchise, & a Love is Blind Contestant Speaks Out on IG Story

The more I think about it, the hatred towards Taylor Swift. I mean, you also gotta remember that when you’re on top, whether it’s in sports, in business, it doesn’t matter when you’re the top dog, of course you’re gonna take most of the arrows.

They’re coming for you. And it’s just, it’s just easy and cool for some people to just crap all over somebody who’s doing really well, but people just don’t like to support people that are doing well. We, we know this. This is kind of the way the world has kind of turned. It’s just so easy to criticize and be negative and whatnot.

And this kind of goes along with it in the Taylor realm in that, yeah. I think people are just doing it just to do it because they want to be, they wanna play the contrarian. They love to play the contrarian because everybody loves Taylor Swift and I think people are just so sick of, Ugh, Taylor Swift, this Taylor Swift that I’m just gonna choose not to like her.

It’s no different than what I talk about with the Kansas City Chiefs or the New York Yankees. Kansas City Chiefs win a bunch of games and it’s because the reps favor them and it’s just like, no. If you actually look at the statistics, it had nothing to do with the reps favoring them. You know, they did get breaks.

There are certain games where things went their way, but it doesn’t mean the refs favored them because if the, if they wanted the Kansas City Chiefs to win, uh, they wouldn’t have been down 33. Nothing in the Super Bowl last year. So it kind of blows those arguments outta the water. But we know people like to criticize, just to criticize for no apparent reason.

And the funny thing is, when it comes to Taylor. And as you know, I’m a fan, but I can be objective about her. I did not care for the tortured poets department. It was just like whatever. To me, I listened to that album probably three times in my life. Maybe I need to listen to it more for it to sink in with me.

There were some good songs on there, but I just wasn’t into tortured poets department like I was into Midnights or Lover or Reputation or 1989. I just wasn’t. Same with evermore and Folklore, and I’m a huge Taylor Swift fan fan I’ve bought. I’ve spent enough money seeing her in concert to say, yeah, I’m a Taylor Swift fan, but I also can be objective.

I’m not gonna sit here and say, I love every album and I love every song, and she can do no wrong. In terms of her music, you know, there’s clearly songs I don’t like and there’s clearly albums and I’m like, can we not have 32 songs that sound the same? You know, I mean, there’s a, there’s a part of me that thinks, and obviously they don’t all sound exactly the same, but you know what I’m saying.

You gotta admit torture’s poets department, whether you like it or not. Even if you do love it, you do have to admit it’s a little slower and a little more dreary, as opposed to she releases this on Friday. And it’s just a total switch up, which we kind of knew, like we knew it was coming because of the producers that were on this album, but getting back to the point of the people that criticize and the people that just want to hate because she’s the top dog.

And I think people just hate because she gets so much attention. The funny thing is. When you read of this stuff online and you see all these people saying, oh my gosh, the life of a showgirl has bombed. Nobody’s liking it, or whatever. It’s just like, first off, where are you getting your info from? Because first day album sales were 2.7 million units sold on its first day.

It’s the second biggest sales week in modern history. History, and I feel like every time Taylor releases an album or a single, it breaks record. The vinyl sales on life of a showgirl. 1.2 million vinyl copies on release day on Friday, they sold 1.2 million vinyl cop copies, setting a new record for the most vinyl copies sold in a week.

Really like these people that are telling you online, nobody likes this album. It sucks Taylor’s going downhill. It’s just like, just look. Give them facts. I know facts don’t matter to a lot of people anymore, especially when they have their own narrative in their head. But facts are facts. You can’t, these aren’t disputable.

These are the numbers. She, she’s sold 2.7 million units on the first day. That’s utterly ridiculous for your 12th album. Usually the more albums you release, doesn’t it get people just kind of drop off, get worse? No, she’s only getting better. So anybody that’s telling you, oh my gosh, it’s not any good.

She’s not any good. She’s really falling off. She doesn’t relate to her fans anymore. Okay, then why is she selling a gazillion units in one day? You know? Vinyl copies, you know, the vinyl copies are just being bought as collector’s items. People are buying records of hers, not so they can put it on a record player and, and play it.

It’s basically just a collector’s item. They’re buying a record so they can, I don’t know, frame it and put it up in their house. But geez, these records that she sets in Apple Music. Life of a Showgirl became the platform’s biggest album of 2025 on first day streams worldwide on Amazon Music. Life of a Showgirl is the most streamed album in its first day in Amazon music globally.

And on Spotify, the album became the most stream single. Single day in Spotify history. And the lead single, the fate of Ophelia, also broke the record for most first day streams of a, a single song. So again, you come across negativity on social media in regards to Taylor Swift or the life of a showgirl.

Just remember those numbers that I just read to you. People are just hating just to hate. And I think those people just, I don’t know, need to get out more and touch grass and, I don’t know, feel the, uh. Feel the warmth of another person with them, you know? And it’s not because I’m a Taylor Swift fan, do I like the album?

Yes. But I’m not gonna sit here and just, I’m not telling you you’re wrong if you don’t like it, because music is completely subjective. You’re allowed to dislike music, of course. But I’ve been very critical of her stuff in the past, and I’ve been very objective in saying, yeah, there are certain albums, certain songs that I like less.

I don’t hate any albums of hers. I just like albums less. Than other ones. But for me, life of a showgirl coming off a 32 song album, tortured poets department, I, I was all for this and I like it. And just seeing the social media discourse and the people that just throw hate out there. It’s like, again, there was an account, there is an account out there that is basically screenshotting negative comments and then screenshotting that profile and you’re seeing.

The only post this profile has ever made is about trashing Taylor Swift’s album. So you’re like, okay, that’s a bot, you know? And where are those coming from? I’ll let you decide. I wanted to end today’s podcast talking about love is Blind because we got some stuff over the weekend that I thought was interesting.

Hopefully you’ve seen the six episodes by now that were released last Wednesday. Uh, this Wednesday episodes seven, eight, and nine are being released, which is wrapping up in Mexico, and then them moving back to Denver and starting their life. Then I believe the final two episodes before the reunion are the following Wednesday, and then the reunion will be at the end of the month.

But what I thought was interesting, and we spoke about this last week in regards to Patrick and Casey, Casey’s taken a ton of heat, as you would expect, because clearly she’s just a very shallow person. And I think the biggest mistake she made when breaking up with Patrick was when you break up with somebody, the last thing you wanna be is very.

Not clear, very vague, and breadcrumb them into thinking that something else is going to be there. So the way it was shown to us when we saw Casey and Patrick talking in the little cafeteria of the hotel, she was like, no, it’s not that I don’t love you, it’s just I can’t do this. And he’s like, oh, so you don’t wanna go to Mexico?

That’s fine. We’ll just go back to Denver. It’s cool. You know, we don’t need to go to Mexico. I’m fine with that. And she’s like, okay, but you, you know, I love you so much. The amount of who, Jews that she did to him, like jumping up, wrapping her legs around him and kissing him, that is very, very different than what she was saying and tr or at least trying to say to him in her words, because when they finally showed us, once she walked away from him, what she had said 45 minutes before he arrived, she was basically saying.

I don’t see the attraction there, and I don’t think it’s gonna get there. But when he sat down, I rewatched that scene. At no point he even gave her an out. He even said, so, do you want to end this? Are you, are you breaking up with me? No, no, no, no, no. I just, I, I just can’t, I just can’t do this anymore. I can’t do, you don’t wanna go to Mexico.

I just, I don’t wanna go to Mexico. But it’s not you. I, I love you so. She just could not say it. And clearly she’s getting a lot of shit online because anybody that goes on reality tv, um, you, you’re going to deal with some really psycho people on the internet who are going to tell you to go kill yourself, which is exactly what apparently Casey was getting this weekend.

So Casey released something on her Instagram story. And she said this over the weekend, I understand I have made mistakes during my time On Love is Blind. However, there is far more to the heavily edited story than what is being aired, and I hope I can share my side soon. She continued. In the meantime, please leave my friends and family out of this negativity as they did not choose to be in this experiment.

I did. And please stop with the death threats. My cat Chardonnay needs a mom. Okay. There’s two things at play here again.

I can say it till I’m blue in the face. It’s never gonna matter. How many times have I told you guys in the podcast listening to this and I, you know, I have no idea if any of you that listen to me are the ones that are doing this. Probably not if I had to guess, but I say it all the time in my podcast.

Anybody that sends death threats to somebody over something they saw on a reality show is a loser. They deserve to be exposed, and I wish maybe Casey would expose these people, take those messages where they threatened your life and put their name out there. Get them suspended from Instagram. That’s all you can do at this point.

’cause clearly Instagram’s not gonna do anything to them. The government’s not gonna do anything to them, but. Uh, I, I have no problem with people sending death threats and being vicious to people online. Deserve to be called out and deserve their Instagram name to be out there. And then, uh, the masses can jump on them.

You can just be like, Steve, but isn’t that promoting hate? Well, they started the hate. And if we just say, okay, well that’s okay. You can continue with this hate. I’m not gonna say anything to you. I don’t agree with that. Anybody that can come with that much hatred, some sort of death threat, some sort of vicious name calling to somebody online.

If that person wants to put their name out there, I’m all for it because it’ll eventually probably get that person to either A, stop doing it, or B, at least shut down that account. Now if they wanna start a new one again, that’s what you can’t. Control if they’re that crazy and they’re like, well, I’ll just start a different account and just start trashing people on this one.

Again, there’s not so much. There’s only so much you can do, but, so there’s two things there. I absolutely agree with Casey when she says, stop going after my friends and family, obviously, of course. We don’t need that. She doesn’t need death threats. But again, this comes with being on reality tv. However, this line I have a, I have a problem with, and that is there is far more to the heavily edited story than what is being aired.

And I hope I can share my side soon. Okay, well, Patrick was able to do an interview, maybe Netflix isn’t letting Casey talk yet, and they wanna save it for the reunion show, which I believe films pretty shortly. I don’t understand what she’s saying in regards to heavily edited, and here’s why. Because Patrick has spoken out, he has done interviews, I believe, with E-News, and he basically said, I have not seen or spoken to Casey since that day.

So Casey, what do you mean? It was heavily edited if what you were saying to Patrick in that moment. Which was, even though we know you were telling production, I don’t wanna see this guy anymore ’cause I’m not attracted to him. You were telling him. You weren’t cutting it off 100%. We can all see that you were breading him, bread crumbing him.

You were being very vague with him. You weren’t just laying down the law of, I’m sorry, Patrick, I’m not attracted to you. I don’t see it going forward because she wanted to look good on television. Okay. I get it. But you didn’t even carry it out after that. You didn’t, even if Patrick would’ve come on and said, we got back to Denver, we didn’t go to Mexico.

Clearly. We got back to Denver. I saw Casey a few times, and I could tell she just wasn’t into it and we ended things. Then it’d be like, okay, Casey. Well, you should have been a little bit more upfront about that in the cafeteria. At least You followed through on what you were telling him in the cafeteria, and you did see him post show.

She never saw the guy. Now, I don’t know if he reached out to her and she just literally ghosted. I have no idea. But for her to sit here and say there’s far more to the heavily edited story that is than what is being aired. Okay. I mean, I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and hear her out on what exactly she’s talking about.

But from everything that you and I saw watching that, what is she talk? We need to know. We need to know what she’s talking about because it looked pretty clear as day. Before he got, before he got there and she met him, she told production, I’m not attracted to him and I don’t see myself being attracted to him.

And then when he gets there, that’s not what she told him. She just said, I can’t do this anymore. And he was under the impression, oh, she just doesn’t want to go to Mexico. I’m totally fine with that. And she even, and he even gave her an out saying, do you wanna break up? Is this a breakup? Are you breaking up with me?

And, no, no, no, no, no. Well, why not in that moment, say unfortunately, yes. Because that’s what she wanted to do. So I’ll give Casey the benefit of the doubt for now, but I’m very skeptical on this. Oh, it was the editing because they showed us what you said before you met him and during your meeting with him, and those two things aren’t lining up.

So hopefully we’ll get answers soon. Anyway, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcasts. Also rate and review, but you gotta hit play. It’s the only way it counts, is to download sports daily coming up in an hour from now. If you wanna go check that out again, thank you all for listening.

I appreciate it, and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
