You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality. Steve Podcast, I’m your host reality. Steve, thank you all for tuning in on this Tuesday. I’ve got a Golden Bachelor story. Nobody knows about. I just found out about it two days ago and I wanted to bring your attention to it. Nicole or Nicole, whatever you wanna call her from this season of the Golden Bachelor Mel’s season has taken to Instagram to apologize for what she said last episode.
Taylor Swift is putting up record numbers yet again and Ka Perry making out with Justin Trudeau. A yacht. Can’t say, we’re too surprised about that. So let’s get started. It was brought to my attention the other day that you know how when, whether it’s the bachelor season or the bachelorette season, or the Golden Bachelor, golden Bachelorette season, they released the contestants on the Facebook page and once they released the contestants and put them up there and they say, these are the potential men or women vying to be on so and so season.
And they leave those people up there on the Facebook page with just their first name, their age, and their city, and then they leave them up there for about three days and then once filming starts, they take all of ’em down. I’ve never really understood that. I don’t know why they just don’t leave them up, but whatever.
Anyway, when males, women went up on the Facebook page, there is a woman on there. Janet from Danville. I don’t remember because when those women went up, I did not try and seek them all out and try and find their Instagram pages and their last names and all that stuff. It was a golden bachelor. I’ve never done it for any of the Golden Bachelor seasons.
When we get Taylor, Frankie Paul’s men coming up probably in a week or so, yeah, me and. Susanna from Bachelor Data will team together and we’ll have all the last names of the contestants and their Instagram and possibly TikTok handles within 24 hours. But Janet from Danville was one of the women that was posted on the Golden Bachelor Facebook page when they put up all the women, but she’s clearly, she never was on this season.
Well, I didn’t know this until someone pointed this out to me. A month ago, one of Janet’s daughters posted on Facebook and basically said, some of you might be wondering, you saw my mother, Janet, from Danville on the A, B, C Golden Bachelor Facebook page and why she never appeared on the show. This is what happened, and this is all public knowledge because her daughter posted this on Facebook and I asked her daughter after I got ahold of this and someone sent it to me.
Is there anything you want me to relay? And she said, well, we’ll get to that in a second. But she was there. She was in la. She was getting dressed and I’m gonna read directly from her Facebook post, and she posted this a month ago, like this has been out there. I just didn’t know about it till someone brought it to my attention.
She wrote this. After giving a little background, she said on the night that she was supposed to meet her Prince Charming, she was dressed in a spectacular gold sequin gown with her hair and makeup done to perfection awaiting her limo ride. When she was found in her room unconscious, she was sent by ambulance to the hospital where she was remained in a coma and on a ventilator.
For the next eight days, she was diagnosed with a severe cerebral edema from hip. Okay, let me pronounce this.
Hyponatremia. Yeah. H-Y-P-O-N-A-T-R-E-M-I-A. Hyponatremia. She slowly awoke and was eventually transferred to an acute rehab facility in California where my siblings and I took turns staying with her for the next month. I was there for 24 days. On August 22nd, we were finally able to fly her back to the East coast where she’s continuing to heal.
Now she went on to share some things about Janet from Danville. Janet Yates is her name. We don’t even know her backstory, and as her daughter explains in this, this is probably one of the good reasons why she was cast. For those that don’t know and probably none of you do, she was a young mother and a very young widow, her first husband.
Which is this daughter who wrote the Post. Her father was killed by a drunk driver, leaving her as a single parent to two little girls. She later remarried our stepfather and had three children all together raising five children and 13 grandchildren, and one of her grandchildren.
Her, her oldest grandchild, Philip, she lost to suicide in 2017. Something our family thought at the time we would never get through in 2022, she lost her husband, Robert, of 38 years to pancreatic cancer. She goes on to say that this is a very long post. I’m not gonna read the whole thing. She said, I don’t know how much I can say about our experience with A, B, C and the Golden Bachelor due to confidentiality and disclosure rules.
But from my perspective and that and my siblings both A, B, C, and the Bachelor organization have been wonderful. And then she basically, for the next paragraph, compliments how kind they’ve been to her women from other season have reached out. So I reached out to her and I said, look, I was just notified of your story.
I’m gonna talk about it on my podcast and just, is there anything you want to add? And her answer was.
We’ve really tried to respect my mom’s privacy, so we’re not really sharing details about her medical info or journey right now. However, everything in my post is public information. You’re welcome to share it. My mom is really an inspiration. We’re hoping she’s on the road to healing and be back to her best self very soon.
I said totally fine. So basically, I was just giving you information about somebody that was supposed to be on Mel’s season, was literally hours away, dressed and ready to go. And basically fell unconscious in her room. And this daughter, very complimentary of A, B, C, and the Golden Bachelor, she says They’ve been great checking in all this stuff.
I’m just curious why the show hasn’t addressed this. I don’t know. I mean, just maybe it’ll be addressed at the Women Tell all. I’m just kind of surprised that they wouldn’t say some sort of dedication to this woman. And look, the, the interesting thing is obviously when you’re a contestant on the show and you’re getting ready on night one, you don’t meet the women until you get in the limo or you don’t meet the other men until you walk downstairs in the hotel and get in the limos.
So none of men’s women. Know who she is or ever met her. They might have been told by a producer at some point, Hey, this happened to one of the women. But I don’t know. I find it, I, I’m just curious as to why the show hasn’t addressed this. Why not fill the audience in on somebody that had a medical emergency?
And not that you have to make it part of the show, but I don’t know why a production didn’t release this to ew.com or people.com or something like that. You know, it’s very possible that, you know, the, the family, as the daughter wrote me back yesterday and just said we we’re, we’re not really, really giving any updates on her situation right now.
But what I wrote is public information, so you have every right to run with that. You can, and, and that’s what I did. I don’t know, I’m just kind of thinking out loud here. I feel, I, I guess maybe they’re doing stuff behind the scenes as the daughter says. They’ve been very great and I guess some women from.
Gary season have reached out that have heard about this story somehow, and they’ve reached out and extended their condolences. But wow, what a scary thing to happen in that, you know, getting ready to be on the show. And the next thing you know you’re unconscious in your room. Then she ends up in a coma and on a ventilator for, for eight days.
Like that is some scary, scary stuff. And if this woman didn’t post this. I don’t know. None of us would ever know about this outside of their immediate family. So I, I, I applaud the daughter for getting this story out there. I’m just wondering why the show wouldn’t at least make it known. And I know none of us wouldn’t know who this woman is outside of literally her first name, her age, and her city, because that’s all we got of her on the Bachelor, golden Bachelor Facebook page when they said, these are the potential women for Mel’s season.
So. I just, the daughter says the show has been great to them. That’s fine. I’m just kind of wondering why the show hasn’t done an interview and, and maybe shared her story with others because I think, you know, hearing that her first husband was killed by a drunk driver, she had to raise two little girls.
She remarries, she loses one of her children grandchildren, I mean. And then she loses her husband, her second husband in, in 2022 to pancreatic cancer. I don’t know, it just seems like a story that should be out there. So I just wanted to pass that along because it came to my attention literally 48 hours ago, and I just wanted to get ahold of the sister who wrote the post to let her know.
She said, that’s fine, you can share it. But we don’t want to give any further updates of what’s going on. And I said, that’s fine. I just asked her, is there anything you want me to add outside of what you wrote on your post? And she said, no. I said, okay. And so just a, just a tragic, tragic story and I, I feel like, I don’t know, the show should do an interview or mention this in an interview or something.
I dunno. But maybe the family doesn’t, I can’t say the family doesn’t want it out there. ’cause the daughter put this on a Facebook post. Yes, it was to family and friends, but she’s public. It’s not like she has a private Facebook page. So I don’t know, just something I was thinking about. But obviously even though we don’t know her thoughts and prayers go out to Janet Eats, who was set to be on Mel’s season.
And then this tragedy happened hours before the her limo entrance. It’s crazy.
