couple things on television last night that unfortunately, due to two reasons I wasn’t get able to get around to number one.
The phone call with David Ingris, and number two, yesterday, I said my whole thing where I moved it up with Rachel to record because I had DirecTV coming out because I had to replace some things. Well, I got a new receiver, which eliminated my old receiver and anything I had recorded in it, and it’s not getting the new one delivered until today, so they’re coming back out today.
Bottom line is I couldn’t record anything last night, and because I was busy watching football and dealing with that phone call. I did not get to see Special Forces last night, nor can I record it, and I did not get to see the wicked special that was on NBC last night. Now I know the Wicked special from what I read is gonna be up on Peacock today, so I’ll be able to watch it.
I just not, did not get to watch it last night. I have seen some clips online. Looked really cool. I’m excited. I’ve been able to stay away from Wicked for good spoilers for the last calendar year, and now we’re what, two and a half weeks away from that movie coming out. I’ll be there day one to go see the movie.
I can’t wait. I’m excited. I’ll finally get the answers I’ve been looking for for the last year. The things I don’t understand of how this is even possible, but it’ll be explained. I know. And even though I saw the wicked play in the early two thousands at PAGs, I don’t remember a thing about it. So I don’t know the plot of Wicked.
Only part one ’cause that’s all I’ve seen so far. But yeah, it was definitely interesting to not get to see that last night I was kind of bothered and I was like, oh crap, I just, I’ll record it. Oh wait, I can’t record it. My receiver’s gone, so I’m not getting into receiver until today. So I was without a DVR for one day, and now that I’m getting a new receiver, which has my DVR, everything I had recorded on my old DVR is now gone.
So. Crap. I should have written stuff down, but I need to set up to record again. Either way. I just gotta go through the days of the week and be like, all right, what do I have to record again? What do I record on Mondays? What do I record on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays. Okay. I’ll, I’ll, I’ll get it done.
But in addition to the Wicked Special that aired on NBC last night, I did not see Special Forces. So I do not know who was eliminated last night. I’m assuming Special Forces is up on streaming today somewhere. I don’t know which streaming service carries it, but I’ll Google it and find out, and I’ll have thoughts on Special Forces.
Probably on Monday’s podcast, on my Instagram story yesterday. I don’t have a ton of you know, no new Back to the Future news for you. We’re probably, we’re probably out of back to the future facts for the time being, but I will say this. You saw it, maybe you didn’t. I have a new little toy. It is a magnetized DeLorean that took me a while to figure out how this thing stays in the air, but if you saw it, go look.
If you didn’t go, look now, it’ll only be up for a few more hours on my Instagram story, but. I took a video of it, ten second video. It’s a DeLorean, a toy DeLorean that floats in the air because it’s magnetized. The bottom of the car is magnetized and it hovers above a stand that’s magnetized. Took me about 30 minutes to figure out how to keep it suspended in the air to do that, but I figured it out eventually.
There wasn’t a lot of parts to put together. It was literally just plug in the base stand and pull out the car, change the wheels on the car, and there was a certain way you had to get it to hover to where once you released it, it would stay suspended in the air. That’s what I was having an issue with.
For 30 minutes, I was holding the car above the magnet and then I would just release the car and it would fall. I’m like. You know, like, um, when two things are magnetized, they just connect to each other. That’s what would happen. I thought, how do I know I’m in the right spot where it’s just gonna stay in the air and it’s gonna stay suspended in the air?
I read the directions and I would hold it, and then it would drop, and then I would read the directions again and I would hold it a certain way, a different way, and then it would drop. And I was just like, this is driving me absolutely nuts. Please don’t tell me. And then I figured it out. So go check out the video.
It’s a really cool toy. Hopefully in my future videos I’ll be able to have it in the background. I might have to move my camera back so you get a wider view. But I definitely want it showing when we do live rewatch of movies and TV shows on my Patreon, that’s. Hopefully coming up in a couple weeks.
That’s the plan for that. But yeah, my magnetized DeLorean, the only thing I don’t want you to ask me, and please don’t ask me, is, Hey Steve, how much did it cost you? Because you will absolutely say I’m a nut job, but it’s a toy for me. It’s a splurge on myself. I like the fact that I have this now. I think it’s a really cool design, especially since I’m starting to do more.
I’m gonna start to do more videos and I kind of wanna. Spice up the place behind me. ’cause every time you see me on video, it’s the same. I’m in the same position. I’ve never done it. I’ve never done a video from outside of my office. And I just wanted to maybe add something to the background, you know? But again, I might have to move my camera back to get that in the view, because right now, every time you see a video of me, it’s just I’m taking up like the whole camera and I can’t really move this camera back because.
It’s already as far back on my desk as it can be. If anything, I would have to move backwards from the camera, but then I, I don’t know. I, I gotta figure it out. But hey, hope you like my new toy. I do. And finally, I want to end with, this has to do with an eighties movie that’s not named Back to the Future or Karate Kid, but did you see what is coming in?
November of 2027. November 19th, 2027. Yes, we’re getting a trilogy of the Gremlins franchise. Gremlins three is going to open up in theaters November 19th, 2027. Chris Columbus is returning as the director and Steven Spielberg is executive producing. So usually anything that Steven Spielberg touches turns to gold, I’m glad that he’s gonna be a part of it.
But what’s funny is, and those that were around in the mid eighties when Gremlins came out, it was definitely marketed as a certain type of movie. And then when you watched the movie, you were like, holy crap. I don’t know if that was appropriate for children in the mid eighties because. As cute and fuzzy as we thought Gizmo was.
Let’s just say Stripe wasn’t so cute because remember, they accidentally fed Gizmo after midnight, which led him to get pregnant and start popping all these fur balls out of his back, which was the first sign that, wait a second, this movie is starting to take a turn. And then. Those, no, I’m sorry. Let me back up.
Water caused gizmo to multiply, basically have babies, but the babies were popping out of his back, which just produced more gremlins. But then when you fed a gremlin after midnight, that’s when they turned into these absolute. Anti cute gremlins, and the leader was Stripe because he had a white mohawk.
And that thing just turned into something that I don’t think any of us expected. Like these gremlins were literally terrorizing a city. They were murdering people, like literally killing them. And we’re like, what? I thought this was about a cute little cute little furball named Gizmo. What the hell happened here?
How did this movie go so far off the rails? But man, that was, I mean, trust me, anybody that watches this movie in the eighties, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Don’t tell me you weren’t scared and that movie didn’t give you nightmares after. ’cause it did for me. I was petrified of stripe. Now while I did have a gremlins, peachy.
And I had gremlins folders for school in fifth and sixth grade. Yeah. Didn’t mean I wasn’t scared of them because Stripe absolutely freaked me out and I just, I just couldn’t believe that movie went to the places that it did. Now, the second one, I may have seen it when it came out, but I couldn’t tell you one thing that happened in the second one.
I know. The main guy was in it, the son who was gifted gizmo, but I don’t remember anything about the second one was Phoebe Kates in the second one. Did she come back for number two? I don’t know, but hey, just to let you know, I, I didn’t know there was such clamoring. I didn’t know. Maybe there wasn’t, and they just decided to do this.
Because making sequels and prequels and trilogies is basically what all Hollywood does. Now, there aren’t many original thoughts out there in Hollywood. I didn’t think there was any sort of online petition or this major clamoring to bring back the Gremlin’s franchise, but apparently there is. ’cause we’re getting a third one on November 19th, 2027.
Hide your wife and kids because I’m sure it’s gonna scare the shit. So what is this going to be? Gremlin’s in 2027. Gizmo stripe on cell phones trading crypto. I don’t know, but I’m wondering if it’s still going to scare the bejesus out of me like it did in 1985. I’ll go see it, but I’m not saying I’m not gonna be freaked out by it.
