Daily Roundup 12/10 – Spotify’s Cool Podcast Feature, Another BTTF Email, Pam Anderson Addresses Liam Neeson Relationship, Twitter and the IPhone, & Those Cool Xmas Bags

You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality. Steve Podcast, I’m your host reality. Steve, thank you all for tuning in on this Wednesday. A good show for you. Today we’re gonna go over some things in the podcast world that I did not know about until yesterday. We’ve got another Back to the Future email as we head into tomorrow night’s live.

Rewatch of Back to the Future part two on my Patreon at patreon.com/reality. Steve Pam Anderson talks about her brief fling with Liam Neeson after Naked Gun. Two or whatever they’re calling it, the Naked Gun reboot. I want to have a couple technical technology things to talk about Twitter, the latest iPhone update, and unfortunately I don’t have any new news for you regarding my Christmas bags, but a lot of you asked yesterday, so let’s get started.

I think I’ve said for a while now that most of you who listen to my podcast, and honestly it doesn’t matter where you listen to my podcast, whether it’s Spotify, apple Podcasts, pod Bean, or whatever, there’s plenty of places Google Play. It doesn’t matter where you listen to it, honestly, it just matters that you listen and you hit play.

The breakdown, when I looked at the analytics yesterday, it’s about 80% of you listen on Apple podcasts, which isn’t surprising, and it’s about 9%. It’s like 81% on Apple Podcasts and to be exact 9% on Spotify, which whatever. Like I said, it doesn’t matter where you listen to it, just as long as you listen.

However, I went to Spotify yesterday. Because I needed to look at something once I looked at my dashboard for where I upload my podcast and people who listen on Spotify, you can in, you can let me know about this. I had no idea about this until yesterday. What I do when I record my podcast is I just record.

All the words that you hear coming outta my mouth. And then I add on the music in the beginning and music in the end that’s saved on my computer. I add that on, I upload it into the system that then sends it out to the podcast world at 7:30 AM Eastern time every morning, Monday through Friday. So I don’t do anything with the podcast itself, the ads, I put the ad breaks in myself.

I don’t know what ads are running. I kind of do based on, I know who’s got ads running this week, but there’s host read ads. The one you hear me read live when I record it, but then I have host read ads that I’ve prerecorded and they are inserted in there. Little confusing, I know. But those are dynamically inserted ads.

The host read ads, which this week have been Zocdoc and HelloFresh. Those I’m reading as I’m recording. Like as I’m recording today’s podcast, I will do a live read or live recorded read of HelloFresh and Zocdoc. Anything else you hear on the podcast today that’s not HelloFresh and Zocdoc, I recorded and uploaded it into the system at the beginning of the month and they just play the same one.

The host Reds that I read every day this week, Z Doc and HelloFresh. I’m just reading those. Doing a new one every single day of the week. Neither here nor there, but I’m just telling you what I talk about when I’m trying to describe what exactly I do. All I do is record it, add the music, and put in a marker of where I want the ads to happen.

That’s it. Now, I had to go yesterday into Spotify to check on some things, and I went to my podcast. One, I wanted to see if my new podcast Art had been updated on Spotify and it had, and I clicked on yesterday’s podcast. I had no idea that Spotify breaks the podcast down into chapters. Like I did not do that.

I don’t do that. I don’t have time to do that for every podcast, but. I mean, yesterday’s podcast is broken down into like eight chapters, and Spotify does it all by themselves. I do nothing other than upload it. Reality. Steve reveals fresh product, artwork, podcast, artwork, and future plans. That’s at the beginning of the podcast at four minutes and 23 seconds.

Yesterday, unpacking and conflicting reports on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey’s wedding. Like not only are they breaking it down into chapters they have. Catchy titles to where you can just go right to it. Special offers from HelloFresh, StoryWorth and Quince. 9 26. At 1417 Reality, Steve reacts to the 2024 Golden Globe nominations.

Like I had no idea they did this and I has this been going on a couple weeks, has been going on six months, hasn’t been going on a year. I never go to Spotify for my podcast ever. So if someone can help me out with that, that listens on Spotify. I’d appreciate it. I just, I’m curious. I think it’s great that they do this.

I thought I had gotten some sort of email from Apple in regards to, I think they’re going to this as well. I just don’t know when. I thought I read something that said On your Apple podcast, we are going to be adding these new features. Like look, apple is in competition with Spotify on podcasts. Right.

Spotify is doing this. Apple certainly isn’t waiting much longer to do it themselves. Maybe it’s gonna be after the new year, but I think it’s coming for those that are curious. So just keep your eye open for that, but I had no idea, and I think that’s an excellent, excellent feature. As you know, tomorrow’s live rewatch tomorrow night, 8:00 PM Eastern Time, seven Central six Mountain, five Pacific, back to the future two on my Patreon channel at patreon.com/reality.

Steve. And over the last few weeks or so, I’ve been reading emails that people have sent into me that I thought were really cool in terms of not just saying, Hey, I watched the movie, thanks for turning me onto it. I mean, those are great too, but some people have stories behind them and you’re just like, wow.

And like I’ve said, after I’ve read every story, I’ve said, see, there’s a reason why I did this and I, I thank everybody who has sent something in like that. Well, I got another one yesterday. I said, Hey Steve, quick story for you.

Growing up, my mom religiously looked up your bachelor spoilers every year. So reality Steve has always been part of my vocabulary. Naturally, I started doing the same. Now I found the podcast and I listen every day except Thursdays because I refuse to hear Survivor talk before I can watch it that night.

That’s fine. You can still listen to the podcast just when I get to the survivor part. Just fast forward or just mute it. At first, I was honestly annoyed by all the back to the future talk. My dad is 50 and has hyped those movies my whole life. But every time I tried to watch as a kid, I fell asleep. But you kept dropping fun facts and I got curious.

Then last Friday, my very blue collar husband, who has no idea who you are, randomly says. Let’s watch back to the future. I about lost my mind because I had just been hearing about you talk about it. We ended up watching all three movies in one night, which is wild because we’re 2 25 year olds in Wyoming who go to bed at 9:00 PM I officially get the hype now, iconic, and I’m telling you, I love hearing stories like that.

Anybody that I can turn on to this franchise, I’m all for. How can I not be? That is so cool to hear 25 year olds now tuning in to Back to the Future. I mean, this movie came out 10 years after they were 15 years after they were born, and there they are saying, yeah, you know what, Steve, you talked about it too much.

I was kind of annoyed by it, and then I watched it. I’m like, yeah, I get it. Hey, you should join the page, John, and join us for a rewatch tomorrow as I’ll have some, I think two is really cool to watch. You know, I debate what go back and forth, whether it is my favorite at times. It is my favorite at times One is my favorite.

But there will be times tomorrow night where I stop it because there’s definitely things we need to discuss and especially when we get to the future. And Marty is in 2015, so it’ll be a fun time tomorrow night. So join in if you haven’t already to the Patreon. This podcast is brought to you by HelloFresh.

Yes, I’m reading this as I’m recording on Tuesday night. You’ve heard of HelloFresh the number one meal kit in America, making home cooking easier with chef crafted recipes and fresh ingredients delivered straight to your door. But this fall, they’re serving up even more to love. This isn’t. The HelloFresh that you remember, HelloFresh has now doubled its menu.
