wanted to mention that tomorrow on the patreon channel. patreon.com. Slash reality, Steve, going back to the Well with a double feature of Saved By the Bell episodes. They’re 22 minutes each, so this will be 45 minutes of episodes and it is.
When Kelly and Zach broke up, now if you go on Wikipedia for Saved by the Bell, you know a lot of shows right now, the continuity is huge. There was no continuity when it came to Saved by the Bell because literally during their senior year of high school, there were episodes that Kelly and Jesse were in.
And they start the season with them, and then halfway through the season, they’re not in any episodes and they bring in Tori, the biker chick, and then they have episodes with her in it, and then they go back to episodes with Jesse and Kelly in it. The whole thing is a mishmash and a hodgepodge of nonsense.
But we will look at the two episodes, and by the way, these two episodes aren’t even back to back. There’s an episode of Kelly breaking up with Zach because her new boss at the max is basically sexually harassing her. Well, what would be considered sexual harassment in 2025. Apparently it wasn’t in the early nineties, but she breaks up with him at the dance and then.
There’s zero mention of Kelly and her new boyfriend until, I don’t know. I’d have to look at how many episodes later it is, but we’ll go over that tomorrow. Anyway, we’re doing those two episodes of Kelly and Zach breaking up and then her getting dumped or finding this man with another woman. You know what I’m talking about.
Anyway, those two episodes coming up tomorrow on the Patreon channel, patreon.com/reality, Steve 3:00 PM Eastern Time, two Central, one Mountain and Noon Pacific. The other thing about the Patreon channel is with the survivor finale on Wednesday night. I’m not gonna record with Steven Fishback until Thursday afternoon, so.
If you’re part of the Patreon channel, if you’re a subscriber, whether you’re monthly or yearly, you will get that interview with Steven Fishback after I record with him, but it won’t go up to the masses until Friday. Usually that’s a Thursday podcast. But with the finale on Wednesday night, he’s got a lot to do.
He’s not gonna wanna record after a three hour finale. He’s got a child. It doesn’t end till 11 o’clock Eastern time on Wednesday nights. So we’re gonna record Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. I’ll put it up for my Patreon subscribers. That Thursday afternoon after I record, but it’ll go up. The weekly podcast will go be going up on Friday of this week, and it’ll be with Steven Fishback, our biannual talk with Steven Fishback going over this season of Survivor.
And finally, the sad story of the week. Obviously Rob Reiner and his wife getting murdered, his son is now the suspect he has been. They set the bond at like $4 million or something ridiculous. Good guy slit the throat of his parents. Should he even get a bond? I mean, I guess you have to, but they set it high enough.
And I don’t wanna get into the politics of it. I don’t want to get into what our president said about it. I just want to talk about Rob Reiner and the good that he did and talk about the run that he had, which was an unbelievable run from 1986. To 1992. This was Rob Reiner’s movie director credits from 86 to 1992.
All of these, he was a director on and all but one of them, he was a producer on, and it’s not like these were films that he did, and I’m just pointing out the good ones. These were the only films that he directed between 1986 and 1992. He didn’t do one in 88 and he didn’t do one in 91. So we have 86, 87, 89, 90 and 92.
These were the five movies that he directed Stand By Me, princess Bride, when Harry Met Sally Misery and a Few Good Men. I don’t know if you’re gonna find five consecutive movies that any director ever did that beats those. Although one does come to mind, which we will go over, and it was something I went over with Brad Gilmore from the author I had on who wrote The Why We Love Back to the Future book that we talked about on that podcast.
I’ll put those five movies that Rob Reiner did from 86 to 92 up against antibodies. Anybody’s stand by me, princess Bride, when Harry Met Sally Misery and a few Good Men. I, princess Bride is one of the top five comedies of all time. Obviously movies are subjective, but the Princess Bride is unbelievable.
When Harry met Sally one of the best rom-coms of the eighties, if not the most, talked about rom-com from the eighties misery. I mean, Kathy Bates taking a sledgehammer to James Conn ankle. I, I’d say that was pretty memorable. And then anybody that knows me knows a Few Good Men is my favorite courtroom movie of all time.
I Absolute, I Could watch. That’s one of the movies that if it comes on TNT or TBS as I’m flipping the channels, no matter where I am and where they are in the movie, when Few Good Men comes on, I finish it out. Absolutely love that movie. It’s my favorite. Movie of all time when it comes to courtroom movies, I have to categorize my favorite movies of all time ’cause I’ve got my eighties teen movies, I’ve got action movies, I’ve got courtroom movies, and I guess I’ve got comedies as well.
Maybe one of these days, I’ll break those down for you. But A Hell of a Run by Rob Reiner. I mean that is, that is the 61 Yankees right there. That is the 85 Bears right there. Stand By Me. Princess Bride. When Harry met Sally Misery and a few Good Men, five movies in a row, he did from 86 to 92. No movies in between that he directed, and I don’t wanna say the rest of his filmography sucked.
There were some, I mean, the American president, Alex and Emma. The bucket list flipped the magic of Bell Isle, and so it goes being Charlie LBJ, shock and Awe, spinal tap two that he just did in 2025. I can’t say those movies match up, you know? But that run. Holy shit. Now when I talk about that run, is there any other director that can match up with that?
There’s only one that comes to mind, and like I said, I went over it when Brad Gilmore was on the podcast, but I wanna reread this run that John Hughes had from 1983 to 1990. Again, these were all movies, either, he was either the director of. Or the writer of some of these. He was both. Some of these, he was just the writer.
Some of these, he was just the director. But from 1983 to 1990, look at this run by John Hughes starting in 83. Mr. Mom, national Lampoon’s Vacation. 16 Candles, breakfast Club. National Lampoons, European Vacation, weird science, pretty in pink Ferris Bueller’s Day off, some kind of wonderful plane strains and automobiles.
She’s having a baby. The great outdoors, uncle Buck Christmas vacation and Home Alone. And again, I’m not saying all his movies after that sucked, but it just kind of dropped off after that. Dutch Curly Sioux, Beethoven, home Alone. Two 101 Dalmatians Flubber made in Manhattan. I’m just kind of skipping around there, but those were the movies he made after night.
Those don’t compare to that Unbelievable run of 15 consecutive movies that you do that I guarantee are numerous people’s favorite movies or memorable movies from their childhood. The amount of times I quote Mr. Mom with my friends vacation. 16 candles. Breakfast Club. You’re a Neo Maxi. Zune, Webi, European vacation.
I think he’s gonna porker Russ. Actually, why don’t I give you one line as I’m just gonna read these movies again. I’m gonna give you one line that pops into my head from all of ’em. Mr. Mom Madison Avenue. Lighten up. Kenny, gimme the Whoopee. No. Vacation. Oh my God. Where do I even start with vacation? I mean, I, I don’t know.
I don’t think it’s a real gun Clark. You kidding? It’s a Magnum PI 16 candles. I gotta watch what I say here since that movie could not be made today, but 16 candles. Oh, sexy girlfriend. Breakfast Club. You’re a Neo Maxie. Debi European vacation. I think he’s gonna pork her dad. He’s not gonna pork her.
Russ, weird science. No shit Che. No shit. Pretty in pink. I mean, come on. That’s gonna be on the Patreon pretty soon. Blaine, his name is Blaine. It’s a major appliance, not a name. Ferris Mueller’s day off. Nine times some kind of wonderful, I can’t really quote. I know a lot of people like that movie. I just, I think I saw it once.
It’s probably the only one in this list that I not, that have not seen numerous times. Planes, train and Automobiles. Those are pillows. She’s having a baby. Great outdoors and Uncle Buck. Again, great classic movies from the eighties. I just didn’t see them tons of times. Christmas vacation. I mean, of course we all did.
Is Rusty still in the Navy? Home alone? Keep the change you filthy animal. So yeah, there you go. That’s why John Hughes dominated my childhood. I so Rob Reiner and John Hughes I, I can’t find a director. That put consecutive movie we gave Rob Reiner his flowers for doing five in a row. That’s 15 in a row that John Hughes did.
That absolutely are classics. Anyway, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it. Follow me in Apple Podcasts. Also rate and review, but you gotta hit plates. The only way it counts as a download. Sports Daily coming up in an hour for now, so go check that out. Again, thank you all for listening. I appreciate it.
