So I said I had two reader emails to get to that came in after I recorded the Reader Emails podcast.
And they are this, Hey Steve. I’m a daily listener to the Reality C Podcast and a regular listener to the Sports Daily, especially during the NFL season. I’m also a fan of Vegas and really hoping to time a trip with your fan party one of these years. All that said, I would love to hear more about your sports betting habits from home.
What platform do you use in Vegas? Who has the best sports book? Are their fees odds to factor in at all? Like in blackjack, five to six versus three to two tables? Lastly, I believe you did a Sports Betting for Dummies type podcast at one point, or maybe it was an IG Live. Is that still available to watch or listen to?
I’ve done some very surface level sports betting, but your takes and advice always intrigued me. Just feel like I still have so much to learn though. Thanks for the great content. Merry Christmas and have a happy, healthy 2026. Thank you for that. Same to you, so absolutely. I can talk about this. Absolutely.
Go to my YouTube channel. It’s not on any of my podcasts. I only did it on YouTube when I did a gambling 1 0 1 video. Go to my YouTube channel Reality Steve 24, and go back and go to the tab that says Lives, and you’ll see it right there. It’s like the fifth or sixth video there. It was posted about a year ago, beginning of last football season.
So go check that out. You’ll get, uh, you know, my stuff, all the stuff there about gambling in terms of Las Vegas. You know me, I’m a big Vegas guy. I usually go there three or four times a year, but I can tell you Vegas has changed. Vegas absolutely is not a place that’s basically they’re catering to the elite and they really are kind of pricing out the tourists now.
It’s unfortunate a lot of people are complaining about it. It doesn’t mean that Vegas is empty, but they really are catering to people who have a lot of money. If you’re just going there, I mean, yeah, you can still go and stay at a cheap hotel, but you’re gonna spend money there and not even if you, you know, you want to go to a steakhouse or something like that, it just costs a lot.
They’re charging for everything. You know, water bottles are eight or $9. It’s just ridiculous. And I can say that when it comes to sports betting, all the sports books are now charging you to sit in a seat at the sports book, which is utterly ridiculous. It’s my biggest pet peeve with Vegas right now. It pisses me off.
Yes, there are times where I can get hooked up because I’ve been going there so long and I have some sort of connections to people out there. Um, I might not have to pay as much, or sometimes I get comped seats in the sports book. But if you wanna go there and watch, now it’s for major events. If you wanna go watch the World Series or the Super Bowl or March Madness or the opening weekend of the NFL season, they are going to charge you for their seats and it’s not gonna be cheap.
They’re gonna charge you to rent the seat and then they’re gonna charge you a minimum for food and beverage. It’s a fucking joke. I hate it. I can’t believe Vegas has turned into this. I remember back in the day, we just showed up and it was first come, first serve, and any sports book you went to on the strip, now any sports book on the strip is charging for renting the seat.
So it’s almost like a. A, uh, licensing fee to just get the seat. And then you have a food or beverage minimum, and that varies based on what event you’re there to watch. It’s utterly, utterly ridiculous, but it’s not changing. This is what Vegas has turned into and this pisses me off. It pisses a lot of people off as for odds to factor in at all.
Another thing that pisses off a lot of the blackjack players, all strip hotels, blackjack pays six to five. Which is a joke, it should pay three to two. So if you have a hundred dollars bet, you get one 20 back. If you get dealt blackjack, it used to be one 50. Now you might say 30 bucks, Steve. No, that’s significant.
Trust me. Because now if you get dealt blackjack and the dealer is showing an ace and they ask for, uh, insurance, you just asked for basically same bat. If there’s no point to go against the dealer, and possibly if the dealer pulls 21, you get nothing, you might as well just collect whatever bet you have out because it’s only paying six to five.
Okay. So if I get dealt blackjack and the dealer flips over a face card or an ace and I just say basically even money, they’ll just pay me. Let’s say I have a hundred dollars out. Uh, they’ll pay me a hundred dollars and if they don’t pull 21, okay, great. I lost out on 20 bucks. I would much rather collect a hundred than miss out on and, and miss out on 20 bucks than say, no, I’m good.
And then have them flip over blackjack and I get nothing. So at six to five Yeah. Even money if it was paying three to two, no, you get dealt blackjack, you and the dealer flips over a face card or an ace. A 10 or an ace, you just say, uh, I think most people would just be like, no, I’ll play this out. I’ll see what happens.
So yeah, it’s, it’s frustrating. And, and that’s basically every major strip hotel. I’m sure there are some, but they are on the lower end. But all the major ones, forget it. Caesar’s, Venetian, Palazzo Win, Encore, you’re not getting blackjack and three to two, they’re all paying six to five. Now it’s a joke. So, yeah, Vegas is 1000% changed.
It’s way more expensive than it used to be. They charge for everything. Everything is completely overpriced. But you just have to know this. Going into Vegas now, like it’s almost like going to Hawaii. You just know you’re gonna pay the Hawaii fee essentially. Well, now you’re paying a Vegas fee because they are charging for everything.
And the other email I got said this, just wanted to say thank you for the podcast. It is part of my morning commute and I look forward to it. Please keep the movie and TV recommendations coming. We loved Paradise and All Her Fault. I hope people have been watching you went and watched Paradise when it was released earlier this year.
Season two, like we said, is coming out, was it January or February? I went over this a couple weeks ago. I can’t remember the date off the top of my head, but season two is coming out soon. And then all Her Fault came out about a month ago on Peacock, right around the time that The Beast in Me came out on Netflix.
I suggested both of those shows. They’re really, really good. If you like mystery, if you like suspense, both of ’em, all Her Fault just goes kind of off the rails and it’s nothing that you can really figure out. And even when they explain everything once the all eight episodes are done, when you look back.
You still really couldn’t have figured it out even if you had been paying like super, super close attention. It was just too hard to piece together what you eventually find out, because basically every episode of all Her fault, you find out more and more about this mystery that’s happening about why this child went missing.
But as it’s happening, you’re like, oh, okay. Well. Now that they told me this, no wonder why I didn’t know that. And you just keep getting more and more. It’s like every single episode, you get more and more evidence, and then once you get all the evidence, you’re like, oh, I never could have figured that out because they didn’t tell me about this stuff.
So maybe that part is frustrating to people, but when you look at it overall as an eight episode series. It’s really, really good, at least in my eyes. And then the beast in me is just very suspenseful and it’s not necessarily a who done it, it’s more of a who do you believe? And then that one plays itself out and that’s only eight episodes.
So Beast In Me on Netflix. All Her Fault on Peacock and Paradise. You can go and watch Season one. It’s only eight episodes long because season two comes out fairly soon. I can’t imagine there’s going to be a season two of the Beast in Me. Because of just the nature of the show. Same with all her fault. I can’t see that, but never know.
They could come up with something, but it doesn’t, it seems like those are one-offs. It seems like those are more of a eight episode mini movie than they are a continuing series. Anyway. Thank you all for listening. Really appreciate it. Follow me in Apple Podcasts. Also, rate and review, but you gotta hit play.
It’s the only way it counts as a download. Sports Daily coming up in an hour from now. Again, thank you all for listening. Your episode number 4 75, podcast number 4 75, reading your email reader Emails is coming out later on today. It’ll have exactly what I’m talking about in regards to one of Taylor Frankie Paul’s men.
That’s coming out later on today. And then we’ll have two short ones tomorrow with Daily Roundup and Sports Daily on Christmas Day. Again, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
See ya.
