You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality Sea podcast. I’m your host reality. Steve. Thank you all for tuning in on this Monday, December 29th. Gosh. Only a few days away from 2026. How about that? Got a couple things to go over with you in today’s show. Good show. Unfortunately, tragic news in the Big brother world over the weekend as Mickey Lee did eventually pass away from her multiple cardiac arrests.
Just an awful, awful story. I have some reader emails to get to. Christmas has me all messed up for a certain reason, at least this year. I’ll tell you why. And then I might have found my new favorite talker. So let’s get started. So the news came down on Friday. It was posted to her accounts, it was passed around by the whole Big Brother community, Mickey Lee, who was on this past season of Big Brother and made it to right before jury, unfortunately passed away on Christmas night.
And you know, we had talked about it last week. They had started a GoFundMe page at last check. They had been up to $37,000. They initially started out with a goal of, I think 10,000. Easily surpassed that. Then they brought it up to 20, easily surpassed that. Last time I checked, they were looking for 40,000 and it was at 37 or 38.
But just an awful, awful story. I mean, this woman was 35 years old. We just saw her on TV all summer. Well, most of the summer. She was on pretty much half of the episodes, and she passed away multiple cardiac arrests. Now, I didn’t know this, but after the season, she had gone on Julie Chen’s podcast and shared the fact that at a very early age, or maybe even she was born with a hole in her heart.
Maybe that contributed to this, because obviously having multiple cardiac arrests at the age of 35 isn’t normal, but all of the big brother community has rallied around her. You can still donate to the GoFundMe page because the family is dealing with a lot funeral expenses, medical bills. She can still go there and donate.
One thing that was very disheartening to see over the weekend. Was people just once again having to complain about something. Here’s a 30 5-year-old woman who suddenly passed and her housemates, a lot of the people from 27, as far as I know, every single one of the people that have were on season 27 has posted about her.
Everybody, however, because. Mickey during her time this summer had some beef with people in the house. Fans thought it would be, I don’t know, right? To go to those people she had beef with and get mad at them. You know, Ashley Hollis, the winner of BB 27, posted a text message that she had sent Mickey. Post filming because there was some beef between them.
Mickey had said something that she immediately took back in terms of her wording for it, and everybody thought that Mickey and Ashley were beefing. So on Friday after the news broke, Ashley to shut people up, said, look, this is a text that I sent Mickey. And it was basically a burying the hatchet. Like, Hey, women shouldn’t be coming after women, especially two black women.
Let’s support each other. And then immediately that turned into why is Mickey Ma why is Ashleigh making Mickey’s death all about her? And I’m just like, good God people. I don’t really think Ashleigh said, huh, Mickey just passed away. We just found out about this hours ago. Let me make this all about me.
That’s not the way I took it. She was basically putting it out there for all the people that were coming at her saying, not blaming Ashley for Mickey’s death, but just saying, oh, see, you know, you’re a bitch to her. And you just never know when somebody’s going to leave. A just like really, just so bad God, people online are utterly insane.
They’re insane. If you took that as Ashley making that about her, I didn’t see it that way at all. And the message that she sent her was very, very positive. She didn’t need to share the whole back and forth, but apparently Mickey went on a podcast post that text from Ashley and said they had reconciled, but that doesn’t fit somebody’s narrative.
Who wants to hate on Ashley, so they’re just gonna hate on Ashley. Just so ridiculous. So many of the comments on Mickey’s death, just, man, it’s why I hate social media sometimes. They really do. There should be nothing other than this is awful for her family and her friends. The friends that she made on Big Brother for the housemates, all of them posting.
Jimmy, Rachel, Ashley, Morgan, Vinny, they’ve all posted Will, they’re all devastated regardless of how you felt about somebody and their edit in the house and what you saw of them. Yeah, Mickey had some really harsh things to say post show, but I’m pretty sure those were said in the moment. Things were made up.
It doesn’t change the fact that it doesn’t make her an awful human being and like, ugh. Well she said she was a bitch to Rachel Post-show, so I’m not gonna be sad for her death. What? Some people are just mentally unstable and they shouldn’t even be able to procreate. Like if you literally took to social media to have anything negative to say about Mickey.
After she passed or anybody that was on BB 27 for how their interaction with Mickey on the show was, and to point it out. Now you’re clearly, clearly somebody who has a lot of hurt inside you and a lot of hate ’cause that’s not the time for it. So last week I did read her emails. I got a couple more that came in over the weekend and this one said, Steve, my question is about Rob Storino.
I know Steven Fishback is your go-to Survivor guru, but have you ever had Rob on your podcast to talk Survivor? Maybe you’ll have him on after traders. Nothing against Steven. I just wonder if Rob has any different takes on Survivor and who do you like in season 50? Yes, Rob’s been on the podcast a couple times.
I wanna say two. It’s been a few years, but he’s definitely been on a couple times. I would Google reality, Steve, Rob Storino podcast and just see what pops up. ’cause off the top of my head, if you were to ask me right now. What year did you have him on? I, I, I’m, if I had to guess, I would say I had him on one post COVID and one pre COVID.
So those are the years that I’m going off of, but I could be wrong, but he’s definitely been on the podcast. Who do I like in season 50? I, I, your guess is as good as mine. I ha I, I have no idea. It just on something like that to say, who do I like? Even though we know the tribes, when you know nothing else, it’s just like, I, I might as well just flip a coin.
I have no idea who I like. They were all good players on their seasons. A lot of luck is involved in Survivor. You have to be on the right side. Anytime there’s a tribe swap, you gotta be on the right side of the numbers. Somebody could be going really well and then the tribe swap happens and they’re done.
So that’s why it’s like predicting. It’s almost impossible. And then this email, of course, had a little tiny tidbit about back to the future. In 1985, my family went to Disneyland and Universal Studios after I graduated high school and the Universal Tour we drove right through the center of Hill Valley where they had just filmed the movie.
I wish I could go back in time and take more pictures of that set. I think about that tour every time you mentioned Back to the Future. I even wrote Michael J. Fox a fan letter and got a postcard. I didn’t think he even, I don’t think he even signed the name was written as Michael. Anyway, thanks for all the pods and really taking care of your listeners.
It is much appreciated. Absolutely. I mean, I grew up in Southern California. I remember going to Universal Studios when the Back to the Future set was like still up and you could take that tour and you’re going through Hill Valley. Absolutely. That was really cool. Up until 2007, both Universal Studios in Hollywood and Florida, I believe had it Back to the Future Ride.
I’m disappointed. I never went on that. I never got to see that ride. I think it discontinued, like I said, oh seven or oh eight, something along those lines. I wish I could have gone on that. That would’ve been pretty cool. But no, I never did. But that is something for sure that I would’ve loved to go on that ride.
Another email. Quick question. Did you ever watch Entourage back in the day? I know I did, but not sure I saw every episode. Anyways, I started watching again from the beginning and solid show, probably at least half of what Jeremy Vin says in the show you would never get away with today. So funny. I’m sure you were if you were back in the day, but just in case you weren’t, you gotta check it out.
I was a casual observer to an entourage. I know. I didn’t see every episode. I know. I wasn’t like, oh, new episode. A new season of Entourage is starting. Gotta watch it from beginning to end. I think I joined late and then I would watch it weekly. But there were probably, I don’t even remember how many seasons of that show there were, I wanna say like seven, eight, maybe nine.
And I joined pretty late now. One, once I joined, I think I watched it every week. But from what I remember of it, yeah, there is no way you could get away with some of the stuff that they did on that show and the things that Ari Gold said on that show because it was absolutely 100% offensive. But again, it was shown during a different time where that was acceptable.
And could you make it today? Absolutely not. There is a podcast about entourage, though. You know how these people do podcasts, so they. Rewatch old episodes and do it. I think the creator of that show, Doug Ellen, I think he has a Entourage podcast where he goes over every single episode on that show, but I was a casual observer.
I was like, eh, I, I don’t know. I, I wasn’t as into it and it, this was kind of the show when it was out, it was, would’ve been like my age range and I would’ve been the demo for that show and for whatever reason. I don’t know. I just was never all Oh my, oh my God. Did you see what happened on Entourage Guy?
That was just never me. I was just never head over heels for that show.
