Daily Roundup 1/19 – Fun Facts from Friday’s Live Re-Watch, New Show with Two Favorites of Mine, Bret Michaels Kills a Poison 40 Yr Anniversary Tour, & My LOST Re-Watch

You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality See podcast. I’m your host reality. Steve, thank you all for tuning in on this Monday. A good show for you. We’re gonna cover quite a few things just in the television world and pop culture world. We’re gonna go over Friday’s live rewatch of Grease two, only because for the people that didn’t see it, there are some things that factually you probably want to know from that, that the people that attended that Patreon live rewatch were able to know, and we all know that movie starred Michelle Pfeiffer.

Michelle Pfeiffer’s gonna be back on our TV screens and very soon along with somebody that I’m currently in a rewatch with who hasn’t been on TV in God knows how long. Brett, Michaels and Poison are not gonna be touring for their 40th anniversary because Brett wants a shit ton of money. That sucks. And I’m gonna update you on my lost rewatch.

Some things that I wanna point out that I guess I didn’t realize the first time around, because I’ve only watched that show probably from beginning to end once, maybe twice. So let’s get started. Like I said, on Friday, there was the live rewatch of Grease two was probably my favorite one that we’ve done so far on my Patreon channel at patreon.com/reality.

Steve, you can sign up and go watch it. It’s five bucks a month, $48 for the year. You get 12 months for the price of 10. I understand that it’s kind of hard whenever I do my live rewatch. It’s not only hard, it’s kind of impossible to know to, for everybody that is a member, to be able to tune in at the times that I do it, because it’s covering three different time zones.

You know? I get it. But if you’re a member, go back and watch it whenever you want. You can follow along in the chat that happens during it, but I mean, grease two is an all time classic. There are some things about Grease Two that I really did not know until a few weeks ago that I think are relevant to point out to people that maybe don’t even know about Grease two or who was in it or anything like that.

So a couple facts that I wanna point out. Number one, there are two twins in the movie. And I didn’t know this till a few weeks ago, but the two twins, not only were the double mint twins, ’cause they were running double mint commercials in the mid eighties, early to mid eighties, where they would take a pair of twins and they would be part of the commercial.

They, I think they used three or four different pairs of twins over the course of the double Mint commercials. But the two of them that were also in Greece, two, they are the twin sisters of Katie Segal. I never would’ve guessed that in a million years. I had no idea until I just started doing some research on Grease two before the rewatch.

But yeah, they’re Katie Segal’s sisters, Peggy Bundy, and it’s just an interesting note. Probably the mother most interesting note of the movie for sure is during the auditions for. The talent show, the twins, who I just spoke of, by the way, in real life, their names are Gene and Liz Segal. But during their audition, they had a song called Brad, and Brad was a guy in the movie that had about three or four, five scenes.

He never had a speaking part. He was singing every scene or he was the guy in there. Audition for the talent show. Anyway, I did not know this until a few weeks ago. Brad was played by an actor named Matt Lattanzi. Probably means nothing to anybody. Matt Lattanzi is Olivia Newton John’s first husband. So they met on the set of Zou in 1980.

I saw Xou when it came out. I don’t remember it. I don’t remember Matt being in it, but he was in it. I don’t know if he had a big part or a, a minor part or whatever. So she meets him on the set of Zou in 1980. He basically films Greece two in 81, 82

as he’s dating her, and then they get married in 1984. He’s her first husband and then they have a daughter, Chloe, in 1986. Either 85 or 86. Her daughter, their daughter is 40. Obviously we know Olivia Newton John has passed away, but I, you know, you watch Grease two enough. You know who Brad is. If I say the name Brad, you know exactly who I’m talking about, but I had no idea who the actor was.

I had no idea about his background. I’m doing a little research and boom. Olivia Newton John’s first husband is Brad from Greece. Two, I think that. The one thing that I pointed out on the rewatch on Friday is just the visual of the movie plot line wise took place three years after the original Greece.

The original Greece was 19 58, 59 school year at right at Rydale High Greece. Two was the 19 61 62 school year at Ride El. Yet. There’s nothing about Grease Two. It’s not like they dressed, you know, the movie was filmed in 1982. It’s not like everybody there was dressed in 1982 Gear. It just seems way more modernized.

When I watched the original Grease, I was like, okay, this looks like high school in the fifties. Just costume wise, set wise, everything. About it screamed high school in the fifties. When I watch Grease two, I’m like, this is looks like high school in the eighties. And yet it took place in the sixties. And there’s plenty of references to the fact that John F.

Kennedy was the president at the time. It just, I don’t know. But growing up when I was watching Grease two, I don’t think I ever made the connection. Now wait a second. This only takes place. In Cannon three years after the first Grease movie. Yet when you watch Grease two, there isn’t a lot that sticks out about it to make it seem like it was the early sixties high school.

It seems like it was eighties high school. I, I, it just, it dawned on me the more, uh, that I watch it. But go check it out on my patreon, patreon.com/reality. Steve, it was fun, was had. I sang my ass off not well, but that’s not the point. The point is, so many of those songs are silly. They’re campy, they’re sexually charged, and you’ll never convince me that Grease Two is not better than Grease one because it’s, you can believe that grease is better than Grease One.

You’re entitled to your own opinion no matter how wrong it is. Grease two’s better. And I’m gonna have a T-shirt that says that coming up that you will see on a future podcast on YouTube. So it’s probably gonna be a few weeks before I get it in the mail, but it has been ordered. It just says Grease two was better, which it was.
