Daily Roundup 1/20 – Bachelorette Things, the Beckham Family Drama is Embarrassing, Taylor Sheridan’s New Show, & Answering a Couple Reader Emails

Yesterday on the pod. I talked about the Madison A show that’s starting up that is a spinoff of all those shows that Taylor Sheridan is doing that I don’t watch The 1880 threes and the one with Kevin Costner and all those, they’re all filmed in like Idaho or Wyoming or whatever.

I don’t watch any of them, but I said he’s got a spinoff coming called the Madison that Michelle Pfeiffer’s gonna be in, and Matthew Fox making a triumphant return to television and they released a 32nd trailer for the Madison and it completely underwhelmed me. Now most trailers are usually two and a half minutes.

This is like the first thing they ever released and it was, you know, a couple quotes here and there and a couple scenes, but I was just like this. Absolutely bored me to tears. Like there was nothing about this. It was like, oh boy. Suspenseful, mysterious, action packed. No, it looked boring, but I get it.

These are, I have not seen any of those shows. Those Taylor Sheridan shows that everybody is into. Landman and stuff like that. I haven’t seen any of ’em, but I know that people are into them because I guess they’re very well written and the characters are, are interesting. So I don’t think a trailer for the Madison is going to, you know, blow anybody’s socks off.

But of the 30 seconds I saw it, it didn’t look. All that great. I’ll give it one episode and see. ’cause honestly, I wanna see my Matthew Fox, Matthew Fox, Matthew Fox back on television. ’cause I think he’s a really, really good actor as I’m going through my lost rewatch. Anyway, I’ve got two reader emails for you here that I want to end with.

Said, Hey, Steve, Saturday Night Live this past Saturday, very hit or miss show with the Stranger Things Guy and the Pink Curlers musical guest. But I love the crude new character. The guy’s girl, so her name is V Veronica. She’s a, a new cast member this year. Her name is Veronica, like Slosky, something along those lines.

Sorry if I’m mispronouncing her last name, but she played this character where all these guys were sitting around about to watch a football game. And she comes in and she’s one of the guys’ girlfriends and the guys are like, why’d you bring your girlfriend, dude? And then she just acts like a total. Bro.

The funny thing was when I, I usually like looking at reviews and what people thought of SNL and there’s some people, most people just love to go online, you know, and just hate stuff. But it’s funny that you say that you loved the new crude character because that was the one thing that universally I read over the past weekend that most people thought was the least bit funny.

Like they didn’t find it funny at all. And I. When I was watching and I was like, it seemed like she was trying too hard. It just, it didn’t, it didn’t hit with me. And maybe it’s because in the first sketch of the night, they did that friends podcast where everybody was playing like a 13-year-old boy and they were just talking in teenager code.

And I was like, this seems to be the same exact thing, except instead of sitting around with their bros doing a podcast. She’s just sitting around pre as a girlfriend of four of a guy who’s watching football with his bros, and she’s just saying all the phrases that a 13-year-old or a teenager would say.

I, I don’t know. My, my response is I didn’t get it. I didn’t, I didn’t find it funny. CB went on to say, Brett Michaels deserves a lot more money than the other guys. In addition to being the face and voice of the band, he wrote more of the music and has kept his face out there with Rock of Love, mass Singer, and other stuff.

I don’t remember. I think CC did Surreal Life. Brett has had health issues in the past, so maybe he requires a giant payday to make it worthwhile. Oh, there’s no doubt Brett Michaels deserves more than the rest of his band. I get that. I just didn’t know if six times more is something totally unreasonable, if that’s normal.

If the band makes a hundred thousand dollars, does he make 60 and the other four guys make 10 each? That seems extreme, but again, I understand he’s the one that people are going to see. You’re gonna watch Poison in a reunion concert. It’s not to see the Ricky Rocket guy play the drums. It’s to hear Brett Michaels sing the hits.

You want to hear him sing. Every Rose has its thorn end. Other songs they did. I, I liked Poison. I wasn’t a hair metal band at the time. I almost seemed like I liked Poison after college, like after I, they were past their prime. But, and then the final thing on this email said, are you gonna watch the guy climb the skyscraper on Netflix?

Absolutely. I’ve never seen this guy before. I didn’t watch that solo movie. But yeah, Friday night on Netflix. Some guy is going to climb one of the tallest buildings in Japan, I think with no harness, no ropes, no safety net, and I’m just like, wait a second. What if he falls and kills himself? We’re gonna see a live death on tv.

Now granted, there’s no way that’s gonna get shown. I gotta believe there’s on, they’re on some sort of delay that if he does fall, we’re not gonna see it. But I’ve seen that building. I don’t understand how somebody can climb literally at a 90 degree angle with no rope or things to grab, like rock climbing.

I, I don’t understand. I, I, I’m watching it for this to understand what exactly it is he’s even doing. What do you mean climb a building? That literally goes straight up. It’s not, I don’t, I don’t understand it. I guess I’ll know more on Friday night, but absolutely. I’m gonna watch for the same reason Anyone else is gonna watch morbid curiosity because I, I don’t wanna see him die.

Of course not. But you’re watching to see how far or how close, almost to death. Kind of like when they wa when they showed that one guy with the. The par with the bar that walked across the Grand Canyon. We watched that live, didn’t we? And why do we watch that Live to see if they were gonna fall, but they had a harness.

Even if they did fall, they weren’t gonna plummet to their death. From everything that I’ve read, this guy, if he falls, will die, but we’re not gonna, there’s no way that’s gonna be shown on tv. No way. It’s gonna be on a ten second delay or 15. I don’t know what the delay is gonna be, but I am gonna tune into it for sure.

And finally this email says, in regards to what I said yesterday about watching re rewatching lost the Jack flashback episode with the tattoo in Thailand. I’m sorry, but the Nick Paolo is the worst. Correct. But I have not seen the Nikki Paolo episode yet on the rewatch. I think I’m within one or two episodes.

I think it’s coming up. And yes, I remember that being one of the worst because all of a sudden for two seasons, we never saw them as even people on the island. And then all of a sudden they’re brought on and I think they get one episode of a flashback episode and they’re killed In the same episode. I was more talking about Jack’s flashback episode for the important people, the Jacks, the locks, the Charlies, the Claires son, and Jen Kate Sawyer, the main people who had flashbacks.

They’re our main ies. That episode in Thailand where he got his tattoo was like, it just was the least important. It told me the the least about something that happened to one of these people before the flight. By the way, yesterday, in watching more episodes, I totally forgot that Claire and Jack were stepbrother and stepsister.

Totally forgot that Christian Shepherd knocked up. Claire’s mom. I’m just, I’m just learning a lot of stuff and we’ve gotten to the point. I forgot that Jack went and lived with the others in their little community. Such a great rewatch, rewatch. I even had a couple people reach out to me yesterday and say, Steve’s, since you’ve been talking about it, I’m gonna go.

One person said they had never even seen it before, and one person said, I’m gonna go rewatch it. Just, if you’re gonna go rewatch lost, I’m not gonna give you any rules to go by. But I kind of am. Don’t have it on in the background. And you gotta pay attention because you’re gonna miss so much if you don’t pay attention.

It is very well written. I wouldn’t say it’s fast moving at all, but it’s just great, great storytelling. And if you don’t know anything about it, I can’t emphasize how much the finale of season three. Was the biggest game changer I think in television history. The biggest twist in TV history we’ve ever seen.

I don’t think anything compares to it, but that’s just me. Anyway, thank you all for listening. I appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcast. Also, rate and review, but you gotta hit play. It’s the only way it counts as a download. Sports Daily coming up in an hour from now. Again, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it.

And I’ll talk to you tomorrow. See you.
