As I’m a Taylor Swift fan, a big Taylor Swift fan lover music. Been to her five of her concerts and when the story first broke of what was going on with the, it ends with us saga.
I covered it for about a week and then I was like, okay, this is just completely out of control. And it’s been going on for over a year now and there are plenty of outlets that have covered it way more extensively than I have ’cause I haven’t even really done anything with this. But obviously now since Taylor Swift is back in the news after what was revealed yesterday.
I wanna chime in with a couple things here, and remember, this isn’t coming, this isn’t some expert opinion because I have not followed this at all. But after what I read yesterday in regards to the case and unsealed text messages between Blake and Taylor there’s a couple things that I wanna say are.
It’s really weird seeing like hatred and vitriol over this.
I don’t really understand it, but then again, probably, ’cause I haven’t followed it for over a year, but it’s very easy when you’re on top for people to come after you. And I think obviously that plays a role, taylor Swift called Justin Baldoni, a bitch in a text message, and people are absolutely losing their shit.
I I understand there’s more to it, but they keep commenting on her calling him a bitch. It’s I don’t get it. Really? That bothers you that much. Can I go through your text messages of what you’ve said about somebody? It just seems like it’s very easy to pile on, and I understand there’s more to it, but here’s my main point that I wanna make.
It seems like two things can be true in terms of what’s going on here. Number one, Blake Lively. Absolutely strong armed Justin Baldoni and took over the movie and has lied about her role. In taking over the movie, making it seem like she didn’t, but now the text message are showing and the things that she was saying to Taylor and other people, email to Ben Affleck.
I read that it’s it certainly seems like she steamrolled Justin Baldoni and took over the movie, but what also can be true is she felt like she was harassed by him.
Why can’t both of those things be true? ’cause it seems like they’re two completely different things here. Just because she took over the movie doesn’t mean she, maybe she took over the movie because he was such an asshole to her on set, and she’s fuck him. I’m gonna make his life a living hell now because he’s made my life a living hell.
Again. I don’t know all the details and you don’t need to come to me with. Pages and pages of stuff. All I’m saying is I do believe both two things can be true, and based on what I read yesterday, I do think both things are true, or at least the main thing. One of the main things is she absolutely took over the movie and was telling people, unless I’m reading those text messages wrong and the context isn’t all there.
But that doesn’t have anything to do with the sexual harassment part that she initially filed against him. Does it? Again, I know that there’s a thousand layers to this story, but just I read yesterday people clutching their pearls that Taylor Swift called Justin Baldon, A Bitch in a text message to Blake Lively.
What are we doing here? And they’re like literally saying she’s one of the worst humans ever for saying, come on people. There, please tell me there’s something more than that. And I look, I, it’s not the only thing I saw. I saw other text messages. Sure. It just didn’t seem as, it just.
The problem is to talk about this. You almost have to talk about the whole thing, and I can’t talk about the whole thing because I don’t know it, so that’s what I said. Maybe just ignore everything that I just said. I’m just saying from an outsider perspective, two things can be true here. Number one, Blake Lively took over control of that movie and took it away from a guy who was working on it for five years.
And number two, she still felt harassed on set by him, and he made her feel uncomfortable on set. Those. You have to admit, both of those things can be true. That’s all I’m saying because I don’t know enough about the case to go into other stuff, so I just wanted to say that. Jason Biggs from American Pie or the American Pie movies, which made him famous and we remember in the first movie that came out in 1999, which was a game changer for me.
Yeah, I was 24 years old at the time. I was a young adult, but that movie was right up my alley. And we all remember the infamous scene where he’s having sex with a warm apple pie because his friends told him, that’s what it feels like to have sex. And they described it as, it’s oh, it’s like warm apple pie.
He comes home one day from school and there’s a warm apple pie on his kitchen counter, and he starts banging it. It’s utterly ridiculous, but also hilarious at the same time. He’s got. Two sons, 11-year-old and 8-year-old. Sid is the 11-year-old, and Laslow is the 8-year-old, and it has now come up and he has been forced to basically show his kids the scene because I guess they’re hearing about it through friends at school, whatever the case may be, and he’s had to bring it up.
Basically said, Hey, it’s my version of Sex Talk. It’s like, how much do you want them to hear from friends and other people at school, and how much do you wanna control the narrative? And it was literally happening with American Pie. So he told his son what do you think it is? And he said, my son guessed it.
So in a way, I almost didn’t control the narrative, but he wasn’t entirely sure. But I wanted to ask him first, I said, what do you think happens? I was just curious. And he actually guessed correctly. He was embarrassed to say it, very embarrassed, but I was like, okay, let me show you. Let me show you what happened.
And so I showed him the scene and he laughed and laughed. Yeah, that’s gotta be a weird thing to show your kid, 11-year-old son and. It happened. There’s no way he can get around it. He’s not the first parent that’s gonna have to discuss something that they said on a podcast or did in a movie, or did in a TV show.
There’s plenty of people, especially now in this day and age of social media, where kids are going to see kids of famous parents are going to see and hear everything about their family. At some point, there’s no way you’re gonna get around it, and he’s had to address it with. His son, Sid, 11 years old. I don’t know.
He didn’t I think he said Sid. I’m assuming he meant Sid. I can’t imagine the 8-year-old is the one hearing about it at school. Maybe he is, but I will say this about the American Pie franchise. It’s actually, if you go back and watch, I don’t know if people remember there’s four movies that had the main crew in it.
American Pie two. American Wedding and American reunion and all of them are good. Yes, they are raunchy, absolutely. But I guess seeing them and growing up with those movies, they’re actually really good movies. Not winning any Oscars anytime soon. Don’t get me wrong. But they’re really good movies, to be honest with you.
I’ve always enjoyed them. If I see one of those flipping through the movie channels, I’ll usually end up watching it ’cause it’s more about your buddies and ’cause all my close friends, all my closest friends in my life are all guys from high school or earlier. One of my closest friends is from college.
Everybody else that’s I’m closest to, I’ve known since kindergarten or first grade. So I guess that’s why those movies appeal to me ’cause it’s more about their friendship. Now, my friends and I didn’t do crazy shit like they did in the movies, but it’s just more about that stuff. So I’ve always taken a liking and had a very fond response.
To the American Pie movies. And finally I didn’t really want to constantly bring up where I’m at in my lost rewatch journey, but I will say I’ve got three episodes left before I’m done with season three. So we’re three episodes away from the most important and the biggest surprise mystery episode that’s ever happened that I’ve ever seen on television before.
And unless you were there in 2006, unless you were living in 2006 and watching it live, you can’t understand the magnitude of the season three finale of lost and how. Before that we had never seen anything like it. And since then, nobody’s ever been able to pull off a surprise like they did for such a popular show.
You go back and you look at the ratings for Lost, this was a show getting 15 to 16 million viewers a week, a scripted show on network television. It wasn’t the number one show in tv, but I think it was top 10 back then. The number one show on TV now is Tracker, and I think it gets 10 to 11 million a week.
Lost got five, averaged 5 million more than that back in 2006, and it was a top 10 show. Maybe it was top 15, but this was appointment television. I believe it was on Wednesday nights. It was absolutely appointment television. Watching it back now. And just watching and binging it, it’s God, this would’ve sucked watching this once a week, which I did, which most people did back then.
It was you watch an episode and then you talk about it for a week. I was one that didn’t really talk about it much because I can’t remember how many of my friends were watching it at the time, and obviously there wasn’t a ton of online discourse happening, although there were places. Jeff Jensen of EW always had a very insightful recap.
That I did read every week, but it was just the water cooler show back then when it came out. And, I’m getting to that point of the main episode, which of all its episodes I’ve seen that one most recently. I can’t remember what, within the last five years I’ve watched that season three finale.
I just popped it on one day. ’cause I was like, I wanna relive it again. And I’ll relive it again probably tomorrow. Probably today. Yeah, I gotta believe I’ll watch three more episodes today at some point. But again, just so many things that I forgot and then just like bigger picture of it. It’s amazing how many of those people on that show had daddy issues.
Jack. Daddy issue, lock daddy issue. Sawyer dad kills himself in front of a man when he was a kid, Kate. Did. Was there anybody on that show that didn’t have daddy issues? Ben Linus Daddy issues. Claire found out who her dad was. Totally forgot that her and Jack were step siblings. It’s like everybody on that show had daddy issues.
Hugo had a dad that left him when he was a kid. Hurley son had daddy issues and. In some aspect, gin because he lied that his dad was even alive. It was pretty amazing how many people have had daddy issues on that show. But yeah, it’s, the rewatch is just, it’s going really well. It’s just amazing how much stuff I’m picking up.
This time around, ’cause this is the first time I’ve ever binge watched that show. I watched it every week when it aired between 2004 and 2010. And then in the last 15 years I’ve watched sporadically an episode here or there, or seen clips online. But doing a binge watch of that show. And that’s really the only way to do it.
Like I’m. For people that might want to choose to bi binge watch it, who have never seen it, or people that have seen it, but wanna binge watch again. This is the way to go. I’m almost glad that we’re not back in 2010 where we had to wait one week for every episode. It’s kinda like 24. You gotta watch 24 in binge fashion because it’s.
24 hours in a day. It’s just so much easier to do it that way than having to wait one week. But man, is it good. And Desmond and Ben and I just, I’m just forgetting so much about the Hostiles versus the Dharma initiative. I totally forgot about that whole storyline.
I could go on and on, but. I just wanted to update you that I’m basically I’m more than halfway through if we’re just doing episodes because season one had 25 episodes, season four had 24, and season three has 23. I watched through episode through episode 20 on season three, so I only got three episodes left, but seasons four, five and six only had 18, 14 and 17.
So I’m definitely more than halfway through, but seasons wise, I’ll be done halfway through. Season three and it’ll be cool. It’ll be cool now to see that season three finale, having watched everything up to this point in the last, 10 days or so. So I’m excited. Anyway, thank you all for listening.
I really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcast. Also rate I review, but you gotta hit play.
