So I mentioned the, in the beginning American Idol is two episodes in. Episode three airs tonight, and I just wanna point out I am watching it. I noticed the theme this season in terms of how they’re presenting it, and that is calling it American Idol University.
And I have to believe this is a takeoff on Wicked with Shiz University. They’ve never called it American Idol University and saying anybody that makes it through, welcome to the class. This is a wicked ripoff, isn’t it? I mean, it’s not a big deal whether they do or not. One thing that I do wanna point out, have you noticed in the past seasons, every episode, they usually go to a different city.
Hey, we’re in New Orleans. Hey, we’re in la. Hey, we’re in Charlotte. Hey, we’re in New York City. Hey, we’re in Las Vegas. You realize that through two episodes, every audition has taken place in Nashville, and if I’m not mistaken. Every audition episode we see will take place in Nashville. Not to mention quote unquote, Hollywood Week, I’m reading took place in Nashville.
I don’t know why they’re calling it Hollywood Week if it took place in Nashville. I mean, it’s ultimately the same thing. It doesn’t matter. It’s taking place in a building and they’re gonna do the same things they did during Hollywood Week, but in past seasons, they actually did it in Hollywood. So why are they calling it Hollywood Week?
Makes no sense to me. I don’t understand Hawaii. I think they’ve already filmed Hawaii episodes where they do that and they all perform out there and they dwindle it down. Seemingly this is a production thing, so there are probably answers out there. I have heard rumors. It has to do with Carrie Underwood’s demands, and she didn’t want to have to travel to six different cities during audition season.
She didn’t want to have to travel to Hollywood Week, and she wanted to keep it in Nashville. It’s very possible. I don’t know, but. I just find that interesting. As for the show itself and the auditions through two weeks, they’re doing what they usually do. They are focusing around the tug at your heartstrings story.
And some of them have, some of ’em have been, I mean, the 15-year-old girl that wrote a song about someone she didn’t even know who had unli herself a year earlier, and then she meets the mother of that. Girl at the audition, she had never met her before. I mean that one you had the kid who had the stuttering problem, who got through to Hollywood.
I mean, this is what the show has become, and I’m not against it whatsoever. We need more positivity in this world. American Idol is not about to filet a bunch of singers that are bad. And make fun of them and call them names like Simon did. We’re just in different times now, so I have no problem with it, but just know this is what the show is.
I know a lot of people are saying, why do we need so many stories like this? Why does every singer they get through have to have a tragic backstory? Well, number one, it’s not every singer and number two. What’s wrong with a few good stories here and there, considering what this world has come to and what we have to deal with on a daily basis.
So much negativity in the news and the media. There’s nothing wrong with a show like this and the positivity that comes outta this. We’re only two episodes in, so I don’t know if there’s an early favorite. We obviously need to get to the final people that get to Hollywood and then get to or Nashville this year and then get down to the final.
24 or whatever for the live shows and whatnot. But then I’ll have a better idea, even though I’m not really good at picking out the winner, because who I think is a, a good singer and who’s the most marketable doesn’t necessarily mean it’s who the audience I is going to rally behind. And finally, I just want to talk about, I told you a few weeks ago I started a, a lost rewatch.
And I will say I finished over the weekend. Took me about three weeks this last week. It took me a little bit longer ’cause I had other stuff going on. But I gotta say I don’t regret it for one second again, because I started talking about it a couple weeks ago. I had a lot of you email me saying I started a rewatch.
I hadn’t seen it in years, or I’m watching it for the first time based on your recommendations. So I don’t wanna give anything away, but I will say this, the ending to me. Was just as satisfying now as it was back when it aired in 2010. I know the ending can be controversial for some people. Some people were a little bit turned off by season six, got a little too confusing and I will say, yeah, season six is probably the most confusing of them all, but I think they landed the plane.
Hypothetically speaking, they landed the plane perfectly on this one for me, and I don’t know if it’s because. I’m older now. You know, when I saw the finale the first time around, I was in my mid thirties, and frankly, when you’re in your mid thirties, you don’t really think about your mortality all that much.
As I have gotten older, I find myself just thinking more about mortality. You know, I’m 50 years old, you don’t think about that stuff when you’re 30, 35, but as you’ve gotten older, you just start thinking about more things and this show does that for me. Did that for me when I finished this weekend. You just look at it a different way than you do when you’re 30 to 35 years old watching the show.
Just going like, oh wow, cool. Mystery sci-fi time travel. Okay. I watch it a little bit differently this time around at 50, and then watching the final scene in the final episode just hits differently now. That’s all I’m gonna say. I don’t wanna give anything away. For those that are watching it because of my recommendation or rewatching it because of my recommendation.
Would like to know what you think about it once you finish. Anyway, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcast. Also rate and review, but you gotta hit play. It’s the only way it counts as a download. Sports Daily coming up in an hour from now, covering that Super Bowl that was played yesterday.
Anyway, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it. And I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
