You know me. I don’t like to jinx guests that I haven’t recorded with yet, but this week’s weekly guest is somebody who I have not had on the podcast in years. It is somebody who is well-known, somebody whose name has come up in recent weeks, and somebody who has a story to share.
That nobody knows about, and they’ll be telling that story for the first time. Hopefully when we record, we’re set to record on Wednesday. It’ll get released on Thursday to the public. Patreon subscribers will get it Wednesday afternoon at patreon.com/reality. Steve, I really hope this interview happens. I think it will, but it’s gonna be a good one.
And like I said to me. The reason their name was in the news within the last month or so isn’t the main part of the interview. The main part of the interview is for them to share a story that nobody knows about, and it’s really, really interesting and almost tragic. So you know me, everybody’s got a story.
I love sharing stories that people. Don’t really necessarily know about. And I found out about this, contacted them was like, Hey, do you wanna tell your story? You wanna tell everybody what happened? They’re like, yeah, you know what I’d like to. So hopefully we get that this week. We’re supposed to be recording on Wednesday.
I don. See any reason why I wouldn’t, outside of obviously some sort of emergency happening with them. My schedule’s open, so I’ll record Wednesday and that’ll be up on Thursday. But I’m looking forward to this one. So this past weekend on Saturday Night Live, Ryan Gosling hosted, and you know me, I’ve been an SL fan since I was in high school.
I’ve seen every episode since high school and. Ryan Gosling in my mind, is a top three host. He’s a guy that they have on seemingly it seems like once a year. Now, maybe they’ll skip a year, but he’s a guy that they love having on, and I mean, I’d have to go back and watch every episode that he’s been hosting in the last probably two or three times.
But if I’m not mistaken. Ryan Gosling has broke character in every single live sketch that he’s been in the last two or three times he’s hosted, like he has not, not laughed in a sketch, I would say in three years, or the last three hosting appearances that he had, and he did it again this past weekend.
Every sketch he was in, live sketch, not the pre-taped sketches. Every live sketch he’s in, he breaks. Which I think is what makes SNL hilarious. And he broke in every single sketch that he did this weekend. And what’s interesting is, there’s two things I wanna point out. The sketch that he did where he was the principal, and kids were passing notes in class and they stole it, the principal and the teacher stole the note and read it in front of the class.
Well, you saw the caption on the screen that said these notes were changed from rehearsal. For those that don’t know, SNL, every Saturday Night records a show for an hour and a half before what we see at 1130 Eastern on Saturday night. They record a whole show and then the fans that get into the rehearsal show are all cleared out, and then they bring in a new show.
And during that time. Lorne Michaels and the producers decide which sketches are gonna make it and which sketches are gonna get cut. And from rehearsal to the regular show, they swapped out what was gonna be in those notes and Ashley Padilla and Ryan Gosling both couldn’t even make it. Through reading those notes, they were laughing pretty hard, and I thought it was great.
Now for those that don’t know a little history of Saturday Night Live, Stefan who is a top three character in the history of that show by Bill Hader on Weekend update. John Mullaney used to be one of the head writers at SNL and John Mullaney would change stuff out on Stefan’s cue cards that Bill Hader.
’cause Bill Hader always broke when he read Stefan on Weekend update. That’s because it was changed out from what he read at rehearsal. To what he read. Not every time, but a lot of the times, John Malaney would swap stuff out to make Bill Hader break and he did. So it’s just something to keep an eye on. I, it’s just hilarious.
’cause Ryan Gosling is literally one of our best actors, right? I mean, the guy’s considered a very, very good actor. He is in, involved in Oscar winning movies, and yet this guy goes on SNL and giggles like a 15-year-old boy every time he’s in a sketch. The guy literally cannot hold it together. And I think it’s hilarious.
Some people are even criticizing the fact that they put it up on the screen that, Hey, just know we changed things out. These actors do not know what they’re about to read, essentially, is what it said. And some people are actually mad at that ’cause they’re like, oh look, SNL is literally telling us they’re changing stuff out because exactly what they want.
They want a viral moment. And they want to see their characters break. It’s like, yeah. And what’s the negative about that? They never told us that. I mean, we know it happens because John Mullaney has admitted he did it to Bill Hader on weekend update with the Stefan character. People just need to lighten up.
I don’t care if they changed it out or not. Ryan Goon was probably gonna break anyway. Because he can’t make it through a sketch without laughing. I think he was in five live sketches on Saturday night and laughed in every single one of ’em. Some harder than others. The other thing I wanna point out about Saturday Night Live is during rehearsal, we remember the biggest sketch, one of the most viral sketches in the last couple years from SNL, was the last time Ryan Gosling hosted.
Where it was just a town hall and he dressed as Beavis and Mikey Day dressed as butthead, and they just sat there and made everybody laugh for no reason. It was just, they were just dressed up as Beavis and Butthead. Well, apparently they brought them back and they did the same exact sketch during rehearsal and for some reason they cut it.
It didn’t make the final show on Saturday night. I’m like, how? Because the whole time for me. I was just wondering, is Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day gonna bring back Beavis and Butthead? It was one of the most viral sketches in the last few years on SNL. Why wouldn’t you bring that back? And apparently they tried it out in rehearsal.
Somebody that was there said it got great laughs. Why wouldn’t it? It’s hilarious. ’cause all they’re doing is sitting there as beavers and butthead and I, and for whatever reason, I guess l Michaels just decided to cut it. Now everybody is begging for that sketch to be released online. From rehearsal, which SNL does.
Some of the time they’ll show sketches that didn’t make it, please. SNL, you’ve gotta release that. We’ve got to see that. Again, I don’t care if it’s the same exact sketch. It probably is. It’s probably the same exact sketch of them just sitting there in the audience and the person who’s being interviewed on stage is just distracted by them.
I don’t care. It’s hilarious. This podcast is also brought to you by. Zocdoc, we all know health issues. Don’t follow a nine to five schedule. With Zocdoc. There’s obviously a lot going on in the world. A lot of it’s negative sucks, and in recent weeks. Obviously the death of James VanDerBeek has, you know, been a downer for sure. Gosh, ever since January 1st, we’ve had some very prominent deaths in the entertainment world. It just sucked. And obviously being a Dawson’s Creek fan, I told you about the James VanDerBeek stuff.
And you know, we did a live rewatch last week of the pilot episode of Dawson’s Creek. If you wanna check that out on my Patreon, you can do that. But. For all the negativity happening in the world right now, and just maybe you’re just down in the dumps. I would honestly suggest going to Kimberly Vanderbeek’s Instagram account and look at the post that she put out yesterday.
It’s about four and a half minutes long, but all it is ’cause yesterday was James Vanderbeek’s birthday, obviously. We know he passed a few weeks ago. But it’s a four and a half minute video put together by his wife, and it’s his 9-year-old daughter Amelia, talking about her dad’s death. If I didn’t look at the video and I didn’t know anything about James Vanderbeek’s children, I would’ve thought this was an 18-year-old woman.
Honestly, if you just listened to it and didn’t have a video attached to it. I cannot believe this 9-year-old girl is as calm and composed talking about her dad dying from two weeks ago or three weeks ago, whatever it was. I implore you to go listen to this. You will be amazed that this 9-year-old kept it together.
Now, maybe she did break down during it, because you can see it was edited by the mom, by Kimberly, but still I would go listen to it. I’d play it here, but it’s four and a half minutes long. I don’t know. Maybe I’ll play it tomorrow because I think everyone needs to hear it. You’ll be amazed. I mean, I have never, I don’t think I’ve ever heard Amelia talk in my life.
I knew he had five kids, six kids, and I knew he had a daughter that was around nine or 10 or 11 or whatever. But this is a 9-year-old girl talking about her dad who just died. And you would just, you would be amazed. I mean, the amount of comments, I mean, I’m just pulling it up right now, the amount of comments that Kimberly has gotten on this.
So, let’s see. Right now it is, it has gotten well, let me see, hang on. It’s gotten 2.5 million views as of right now’s 212,000 likes, sixty one hundred and forty four comments on it, and everyone is just in awe of this 9-year-old girl. Having the ability to talk about her dad who just died. I, if you don’t go listen to it, maybe we will listen to it tomorrow.
I know it’s long. I know it’s four and a half minutes, but I think it’s that important that you gotta hear it if just to put a smile on people’s faces and finally, you know what doesn’t put a smile on my face. The roll jelly roll. I haven’t watched, I was gonna say the voice, but he’s not on the voice this season.
Right. Was he ever a judge on the voice? I think he was. Maybe he did one season, whatever. Oh, but that, that show that he’s a judge on now. Star Search. I haven’t watched any of that. It might be over. I think it is over. Anyway. You know me, I’m a big wrestling fan and Jelly Roll has been involved in the WWE e on and off in the last few years since he’s lost his weight.
Well, on Friday night SmackDown, three days ago. Promoted next week’s or this upcoming Friday’s SmackDown show and they said Jelly Roll will have a live performance. Oh God, I swear to you, you gotta remember, jelly Roll has performed live on WWE events, whether it was raw or smack down or summer slam, at least twice that I can remember.
And both times he’s saying, liar. I swear to holy hell, if this guy comes out and sings liar again, I am going to lose my shit. Now I can pretty much already tell you why he’s doing this, regardless of what song he sings. I can’t imagine he’s doing liar again. There’s no way this is, he’s already done it twice on WWE programming.
But the reason they’re doing this is whatever song he’s gonna sing, he might not even get out the first line. This is absolutely 100% them setting up a storyline for WrestleMania. In six weeks. Some wrestler is gonna come out and interrupt jelly rolls live performance, which will lead to a match at WrestleMania.
I don’t know who it’s gonna be, but you can pretty much guarantee that that’s what’s gonna happen. There’s been talk ever since he was in Summer Slam or whatever, that he is absolutely coming back for another match with wwe e. So just know he’s not coming out just to sing a song and then leave. No, this is going to be an angle where it sets up a storyline for WrestleMania, which is April 17th and 18th.
That’s the date. Is that a Saturday, Sunday, 17th and 18th? No, 18th, 19th, sorry. So. It’s coming. I’m just curious of if he even starts to sing something. I don’t care if it’s one line of liar, I’d just be like, good God, dude. Can you sing something else?
You know what? You know what? I hope a wrestler comes out and waxs him in the head with a speaker. That’s what I hope happens because maybe that’ll get ’em to shut up. Anyway, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it. Follow me an Apple podcast. Also, rate and review, but you gotta hit play. It’s the only way it counts as a download.
Sports Daily coming up in an hour from now, so go check that out. Again, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
