As we get closer to Katie’s season, and on the week that ABC released their first promo of the season, thought I’d give you some things that I know up to this point. Nothing too major outside of one thing I guess could be considered pretty major. But just some info and things you can expect to see this season with storylines and some of the guys. I go over all this in the podcast (as well as below in the column for people that aren’t thoroughly entertained by the sound of my voice), along with how I plan to cover this season going forward. As I’ve said in the past few weeks, this has been a learning process for me that’s always ongoing. I’m not always going to say everything right, but I’m going to try. That also means re-evaluating my coverage of this show going forward. The spoilers aren’t going anywhere. I’ve always said as long as this show is on the air, and as long as I find info out about what happens on the show, I’ll report it. I’m talking more so about the other things. Read on below for some mini spoilers/info on Katie’s “Bachelorette” season that starts on June 7th, along with a link to a featured interview that Colton did yesterday with Variety.

SOME SPOILERS/STORYLINES THIS SEASON
-Hearing that Thomas Jacobs is an early season “villain.” I put that in parentheses because that term is 1) shorter to use and 2) has taken on many variations throughout the years. Basically, he’s the guy that ruffles some feathers early on with the other guys. I believe he gets an early rose, thus making him look like an early favorite, that quickly wears out his welcome with some of the others and Thomas ends up getting eliminated in like episode 3 or 4.
-As you know by now, Blake Moynes shows up rather early in the season, he of Clare/Tayshia’s season. Blake makes the final 4 along with Greg Grippo (the first impression rose recipient), and John Hersey. Those 3 I know. I’m not sure who the 4th guy is in the final 4 yet. I’ve heard names but nothing I’m confident about. Those three I am.
-Michael Allio is 36 from Akron, Ohio whose wife died a couple years ago and he has a son. Michael lasts long this season, but his exit I’ve been told revolves around his son. We’ve seen this before where people with kids get to a point where if they’re not gonna be picked, they might as well go home. I don’t know any of the exact details regarding his departure, I just know either Katie sends him home to be with his son or he wants to leave because of it. I believe he makes it to the episode before hometowns.
-This season is very sex positive, which should surprise no one. They’ve already started the season with a tagling “See what the buzz is all about,” which is in reference to Katie bringing the vibrator night 1 of Matt’s season. We already know by the first promo, one of the guys (Cody) brings a blow up doll the first night. I can also tell you there’s a group date this season where the guys have to show their “sex moves.” So yeah, any thought that this franchise was gonna move away from the sex themed dates, or numerous sexual innuendos we see season and season out, well, you can throw that idea out the window this season. There will be plenty of talk and dates that are sexual in nature. The sex thing is played up more so than normal this season from what I’m being told.
-Aaron Clancy and Cody Menk both live in the San Diego area. I don’t know if they knew each other per se, but, they definitely at least knew of each other and ran in the same friend circle. So one early season storyline is that Aaron went to Katie and told her Cody was a party guy, not really there for her, Cody found out about this and confronted Aaron. I don’t think it got physical, but, Cody ended up either getting eliminated in that moment or at the next rose ceremony. Aaron went home a couple one or two episodes later.
-I guess the biggest “spoiler” I have for you is this: Katie is engaged. However, I don’t know to who. I mean, we know 3 of the final four are Blake, John, and Greg, so they are obviously 3 of the 4 people it could be. I know you may ask, “How can you know she’s engaged but not know who to?” Trust me, it’s possible. I’m just not gonna give up sources on that, so yeah, it’s possible to know one and not the other. Katie definitely got engaged at the end of this. And unless she breaks up before the finale, which I guess anything can happen, but she’s happy and engaged as we speak, so I’d expect that to last.
-Katie is definitely the most “social” lead we’ve ever had. I think she’s posted more on Twitter and IG since returning from filming than any previous lead. She’s done a Q&A, she’s hanging with Bachelor Nation people and posting about it every time she does. So that’s definitely different from what we’ve seen in the past. Now that it’s out there publicly she’s engaged, I can see her posting and doing things that make people think that’s not the case, or try to act single or whatever, but don’t be fooled by it. She’s definitely someone that’s gonna have fun with the social media aspect of this show, which we never see from past leads. She knows what she’s doing. I just wouldn’t read too much into everything she does. She’s happy and engaged from everything I’ve been told.
-Also keep an eye out for the IG accounts that take all this info today and will now say “We’ve heard this and we can confirm this is true,” because a lot of them have come out and say they aren’t going to credit my spoilers anymore, even though what happened in the past month has nothing to do with spoilers. So just kinda sit back and laugh while they most definitely do that in the coming weeks. The show has been done filming for 2 1/2 weeks. No one’s posted anything that I posted today. Yet, they’ll all now mention it on their pages and say “they can now confirm…” which is just funny how they can confirm now, but couldn’t at any point before today. Hysterical. But it’s to be expected. A lot of people are relishing in what’s happened recently and are enjoying the pile on. It’s ok. I can take it. Just don’t mix it up with where you heard spoilers from.
–Here is a link to a piece that Colton did with Variety yesterday. There’s a lot there and stuff we hadn’t yet, so, give it a read if you’d like.
As I get more information on this season, I will pass it along, but in terms of contestants and the dirt and all that. It’s a case-by-case basis, but I don’t see myself covering them like I have in the past. I’m tired of the messenger getting shot. You want to read dirt on the contestants, read the IG accounts that post anything with vetting it. There will be plenty of rumblings about the guys. I know I’m not the only one whose heard things, but, I think that type of coverage is slowly going to go away. The positives aren’t outweighing the negatives. Like I said, everything is a case-by-case basis, but as I’ve said, this is an ongoing process for me and I want to be better. So I think you’ll see the change in how I cover the show. You’ll still get your recaps Tuesdays, and I will still snark and be sarcastic about the show, and most definitely lay into production for all the tricks they pull behind the scenes, but in terms of the contestants, I think I’m gonna lay low for a while. I’ve already been told a lot of things about some of Katie’s guys, but I just don’t have it in me anymore to deal with the ramifications. If someone wants to put their name behind it and come out with receipts, then we’ll deal with it then. But me being the messenger and taking the bullets for people who, while may have proof and are telling the truth, don’t want their name attached to it? I think those days are done.
So anyway, just wanted to put that out there. I know you love the tea (I see it in my podcast downloads and website page views), but there’s a way to do it that’s different than I’ve been doing in the past. Keep it here for all your spoilers on Katie’s season and any other info going forward. I’ll keep you updated on anything I hear.
