The Bachelor Zach – Episode 4 Recap, Snorkeling, Transcribing, & Your Daily Roundup

-Lets face it, the whole group date surrounded the “drama” between Kylee and Anastasia. And I put drama in quotation marks since this was a giant nothingburger if you ask me. Well, maybe not nothing. But in terms of comparing it past seasons dramas? Not even close. Anastasia pulled Zach aside during their fish fry to talk to him. Of course, production decided to get in Kylee’s ear and have her go interrupt them. Anastasia asks for a couple more minutes, Kylee doesn’t leave. Anastasia asks for one more minute, and Kylee still doesn’t leave and says “I don’t wanna fight you over this.” Anastasia takes that literally thinking that Kylee wanted to fight her, and here we are. This is what the drama was this episode. The Bachelor: Fight Club has now begun and Kylee broke rule #1 of Fight Club which is you don’t talk about Fight Club. Anastasia broke rule #2 of Fight Club which was to not take everything so literally. I think that’s rule #2. Not sure. Let me go watch the movie again and get back to you.

-This seriously is what went on all night between these two. Anastasia thinking Kylee wanted to cold cock her in the face over alone time. By the way, did you see EW.com’s Kristen Baldwin’s story today on why leads never intervene when someone asks if they can steal them? Good stuff, which we’ll talk about in Thursday’s podcast with Kristen. Anyway, Anastasia completely overreacted to Kylee’s statement in that situation. Kylee said nothing wrong. Until…she decided to run tattling to Zach to tell him that Anastasia was overheard talking about gaining Instagram followers by being on the show. Did she hear this directly? Of course not. Charity heard it and she heard it through Charity. But she figured she’d let Zach in on that. Bad move. It’s one thing to tattle, it’s another thing to tattle on something that literally all of you are there for, and then it’s yet ANOTHER thing to tattle on something that you never heard yourself directly. 1, 2, 3 strikes you’re out. Just a bad look all around.

-The most ridiculous part of the whole IG comment was, well, two things: 1) We never see footage of this? They literally record everything on this show and yet we never get any footage of Anastasia saying this? I’m not saying it didn’t happen. But I’m also not just going to blindly believe production and say it did. At least not in the way it was presented. And 2) she was bragging about getting 50K followers? Is that even remotely profitable? The answer would be no. You used to get 50k followers on this show by sneezing. Or showing up for 2 episodes. 50k followers is not a big deal in the least bit. Anastasia admitted while talking to Zach that she talked to the other women about brands that she worked with and they all seemed receptive to it. I can pretty much guarantee I know how this conversation played out. Producers were made aware of this conversation, they got in Kylee’s ear by saying things like, “You know, Anastasia was talking about brand deals and what not. You think she’s really here for Zach? Maybe you should tell him?” It’s very easy to go from point A, to point B, to point C on this show. I’m guessing it was pretty close to that. At some point, maybe we’ll find out directly from Anastasia exactly what she said. But once again, Zach immediately shut down any drama and sent her home at the cocktail party before the rose ceremony. Zach don’t play that. Madison night 1 interrupting him too much? Gone. Christina bullying Brianna? See ya. Not feeling it with Bailey anymore? Adios. Brianna spark fading? Buh bye. Now Anastasia.

-Brooklyn’s 1-on-1 date was ATV riding and having a little set up down on the beach where they could make out. There’s really only one important part of Brooklyn’s date and that’s when she opened up about being in a physically abusive relationship. The show put a disclaimer on the screen before her dinner portion and afterwards because Brooklyn talked about being physically hurt by a former boyfriend of 6 years. Tough story to hear. Awful she had to go through that, and at least some credit to the show for giving the audience a warning beforehand, then following up with the number for domestic violence victims afterwards. If you missed it, the National Domestic Violence Hotline provides free, confidential support 24/7/365. Phone # is 800-799-SAFE (7233). Or you can chat online with them at TheHotline.org. Not easy for Brooklyn to share that story on national television, so kudos to her. Outside of Caelynn talking about being a sexual assault survivor in college during her 1-on-1 with Colton, I think Brooklyn is the only other woman to share something like this on the show before, no?

-Rose ceremony time. Kat, Ariel, and Brooklyn already with roses. Zach: “Hi ladies…this week was a lot…challenging…lucky to be standing here…excited for how you make me feel…and how’d I make all you feel with my killer dances moves this episode, huh? Hips swivelin’, wavin’ my arms in the air like I just don’t care. Turns you on, doesn’t it?”

Charity, Kaity, Gabi, Jess, Mercedes, Aly, and Greer get roses.

“Ladies, Zach. It’s the final rose tonight. When you’re ready. And while I’m at it, studying college football while laying out on the beach and a coconut drink at my side is truly the life. Someone thank Chris Harrison for royally fucking up in that Rachel interview so I could get this gig. Can’t thank him enough. Hope he’s enjoying having a podcast.”

Kylee with the last rose of the night. Genevie and Davia sent home and we have no clue still why Genevie was in a sling last week. I’m assuming it’s a direct result of the football game, but zero explanation given, nor did she ever get any camera time this season.

Next week is the big whopper as COVID hits Zach and one of the women, but, I don’t know who the woman is yet and what happens to her. I’m starting to think whoever got it was allowed to wait it out and stay on the show. Which is fine, since it only seemed to knock Zach out of filming for a few days, but, then how do they explain just sending Logan home last season once he got it? Let me try and find out who got it and how it was handled before we jump to that conclusion. I’m just thinking out loud right now because I know next week Mercedes and Kylee go home at the Zoom rose ceremony in London and I don’t believe either one of them was the one that got COVID. And we know the remaining 9 women are still on the show in Estonia. Time will tell.
