Daily Roundup 6/17 – Bachelorette & Golden Bachelorette News, Joe Alywn Speaks On Taylor, A DWTS Thought, Mind Blowing Geography Fact, & Sports Talk Radio Topic Yesterday

So online this weekend, I was looking at my Instagram account and there were a few Dancing with the Stars posts that came up in my search bar. There was a Dancing with the Stars story on Us Weekly about Sasha Farber and Emma Slater, who, you know, have been divorced for a couple years now, but basically, They said they’ll always be in each other’s lives.

And then it just brought me to thinking about dance with the stars coming up in September and when dance with the stars comes out in September, one thing that I keep that I just totally forget about. And I’ll be honest with you, this might sound bad. I’m certainly not anti Olympics. I just don’t really watch a lot of it.

You know, I’ll watch the men’s basketball. I’ll watch track and field, but I, I don’t really watch a lot of sports where I don’t know any of the people. So I know the men playing on the men’s basketball team, cause it’s the pros, but I don’t know any of the track and field star. I don’t know any of the swimmers this year is Katie Ledecky still swimming.

I think she is, but I just don’t know any of them. Like I’ll watch stuff. The other thing that’s going to suck this year is everything’s going to be on tape delay. We’re already going to know all the results when we sit down and watch every night, NBC is in Peacock are covering most of the Olympics. And I’m telling you, they’ve already said, like, they’re going to cover it differently because they’re not going to pretend like we don’t know who already won these events.

They’re going to cover it more like a soap opera and they’re going to do a lot of backstories and kind of. The way they tell it, they’re not going to give away the results, but they’re going to show it in a way where you kind of know the results and they don’t want to, they don’t want their audience to think that they don’t know that, you know, the results is, I guess the best way to put it anyway.

When it got me thinking about dance with the stars, there are three guarantees in life, death taxes, and there will absolutely 1000 percent some be someone from the Olympics this year is going to be on dance with the stars. It might be somebody that we already know, or it might be somebody who’s the feel good story of the Olympics this year.

We don’t know that yet because it hasn’t happened, but if there’s a us athlete, whether it’s from the gymnastics team, whether it’s from track and field, whatever, Somebody from the Olympics is going to be on dance with the stars. You can put it on the board. Yes, trust me. It’s happening hell on non Olympic seasons on non Olympic years.

They have Olympic athletes on dance with the stars. They are absolutely going, and you’re probably going to have the person who makes the most quote unquote noise, not in a bad way, but just somebody who gets a lot of attention. Maybe the darling of the Olympics this year, somebody comes out of nowhere and gets a bronze or a gold.

I guarantee they’re going to be the ones that are on dance with the stars this year. We don’t know who the cast is just yet. It’s still three months away because it doesn’t start airing until September. We’ll start finding out the cast maybe two or three weeks before that, but Bet your bottom dollar that whoever the darling of the Olympics is this year, man or woman is going to be asked to be on dance with the stars.

Now here’s a couple of things this weekend that have nothing to do really with pop culture, but I think you can impress your friends with this next one. Your friends, your husbands, your wives, your children, your mistresses. I did not know this and maybe I’m the one out of the loop here, but I just heard this fact as of Friday or Saturday.

And I was like, and I had to Google it myself to make sure I wasn’t getting ball sacked, which is where, you know, you run with misinformation on the internet. So I saw this clip on the internet and I was like, wait, are you serious? Did you know there is a part of Florida and a part of the state of Oregon?

That are only one time zone away from each other. Did you know this? I did not know this until this past weekend. Ontario, Oregon is in the Mountain Time Zone. It’s like one little snippet in East, East Oregon that’s in the Mountain Time Zone. And Pensacola, Florida is in the Central Time Zone. Which means they’re only one hour apart.

Oregon and Florida. Parts of each state are only one hour apart. What the hell? How did I never hear that until this weekend? And how many of you knew this? Am I the only one that didn’t know this? I can’t be. This is, this is news to me. Cause I heard it, and I didn’t know. All I heard was, yeah, there’s parts of Oregon and parts of Florida that are only one hour time difference.

I’m like, huh? So I googled it, and it showed a time zone map, and you’ll see. It’s like East East Oregon. There’s like this little block in East East Oregon, as you can get, that is in the mountain time zone. And the rest of the state’s obviously in Pacific. And then West, West Florida, there’s a part there, Pensacola, that is mountain time, or that is a central time zone.

So mountain and central only one hour apart. Is your mind blown now? Cause, cause mine was, I had no idea yet. It probably takes, if you were to get on a plane from Ontario, Oregon to Pensacola, Florida, probably five and a half hours. If I had to guess anyway, I’ve talked about this in the past before, and this is like one of my favorite things.

You know, I was involved in sports talk radio for the longest time. And I always told you some of my favorite days of sports talk radio or the holidays where sports talk radio, especially places like ESPN radio, Fox sports radio, they have programming 24, seven, three 65. Like they always have some sort of show going and some host is talking about sports all the time.

Now, yesterday wasn’t a holiday, but it was father’s day. And remember, I’ve told you in the past on Thanksgiving day, one of my favorites is like, Hey, who’s the big Turkey in sport? Who’s your vote for biggest Turkey in sports? Rank your Thanksgiving day dishes. It’s like, really? You’re a sports talk show host.

Is that, is that how you rolled into work that day? You’re just like, I don’t want to do any work. I’m just going to tell people to call up and tell me what do they rank their Thanksgiving dishes as like, Jesus, this person should be fired. Anyway, yesterday I heard another one because it was father’s day.

This talk show host said, Hey, call up and give me your best fictional dads, television or movies really? Because it’s father’s day. You just want to know people’s best fictional dads. By the way, there’s only one answer and one answer only to that, and that is coach Eric Taylor from Friday Night Lights. We all know that.

There’s no other answer that’s number one. Sorry. I didn’t listen to the segment because I was so embarrassed for this host. Best fictional dads was something he was thrown out there because he had to host a show on a Sunday that happened to be Father’s Day. What lazy, lazy hosting was anybody else happening?

Anybody else possibly hear that? Cause I actually want to know what some people actually gave us answers. I mean, I’m sure some people would say like, I mean, there’s so many fictional dads on television, but you know, for me, be coach Eric Taylor. Cause I’ve always said television show, Friday night lights, top three show in my lifetime, and.

Eric Taylor and Tammy Taylor had the most realistic television marriage I’ve ever seen on television. And I don’t think it was close because it just wasn’t, it didn’t seem, I want to say it didn’t seem scripted, but the answer truly is it really wasn’t scripted. You listen to anybody who’s done interviews from that show.

That cast has talked about the fact that a lot of the time they weren’t given a script. They were given a scene. They were told what points they needed to hit in the scene. And they just said, go. Didn’t have to remember a script. So to me, Eric and Tammy Taylor, most realistic married couple I’ve ever seen on television.

Anyway, thank you all for listening. Really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple podcasts also rate and review the, but you got to hit play. It’s the only way it counts as a download. Please do that. The sports daily will be up in an hour from now. If you want to listen to that anyway, thank you again for all listening.

I really appreciate it. And I will talk to you tomorrow. See.
