Joined today by one of my favorite podcast guests, Suzana Somers, @BachelorData on IG. Always great having her on because of the info she provides. She’s built up her page to be the foremost authority on Bachelor statistics from screen time, first impression roses, to hometown dates, to first out of the limo, etc. The list goes on. If you’ve never checked out her IG page and you’re a die hard Bachelor fan who’s always had questions maybe about the statistics and probabilities of the show, her IG is the way to go. When we recorded yesterday, during the middle of it is when the news that BIP is returning next summer came down so we discuss that as well. Also, she discusses Jenn’s ratings which exceeded I think most people’s expectations after her premiere episode. Absolutely blew away Charity’s premiere episode last summer. Anyway, a great conversation with Suzana as always. Enjoy…

DAILY ROUNDUP 7/11 TRANSCRIPT
You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality Steve podcast. I’m your host Reality Steve. Thank you all for tuning in. This is a big day in Reality Steve Daily Roundup podcast history. We’ll talk about why that is. We’re going to talk about Jen’s ratings from Monday night. They are in.
And it is a very positive outlook for her season already. We got an announcement yesterday. Bachelor in paradise is coming back and have to wait a year, but it’s coming back. I got another update on chalk chapel. The guy who had the one on one date on Jones first one on one date of the season at Disneyland.
I’ve got to talk about a show that debuted again last night. Or premiered last night, third season, and then a pop culture story that I saw that I had to do a double take on. And it shows you how out of the loop I am. We’ll get to all that momentarily. It’s podcast brought to you by tropical smoothie cafe, tropical smoothie cafe, believes you deserve a little vacay.
Every day, get on Tropic Time with bright and refreshing smoothies, tropic bowls, wraps, and flatbreads from Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Gotta start with this. Today is July 11th, 2024. Do you know what debuted exactly two years ago to the day? That’s right. The Daily Roundup. July 11th, 2022, I started this venture to do a podcast 20 to 25 minutes every day, Monday through Friday. And I can say now I have not missed a day, Monday through Friday in two years, we’re going to keep that streak going.
And I’ve told you, look outside of extenuating circumstances, some, you know, negative, you know, bad thing happening. Or I think the one thing that will end up being the reason I miss a daily roundup one day. I think it’s going to be because of audio issues. Like something won’t get downloaded. Who I upload my podcast to will just have issues all day long or something like that.
I don’t think it’s going to be because I just don’t get around to doing it. You know, I, like I said, outside of something crazy happening, you know, something that’s, you know, not, we don’t want to talk about, you know, something like that. And. I’m glad I’ve been able to do this for two years. Like when I set out to do it, I’m like, I think I can pull this off.
And you know, what’s another 20 to 25 minutes, five times a week. You know, I can do that. It was when I started the daily, the sports daily six months later in January in the first Monday of January of 2023, where I was like, okay, maybe I’m taking on a little too much doing 11 podcasts a week, but I’ve been able to do it.
Haven’t missed an episode of that. So I’m 18 months into that. I’ve not missed an episode money through Friday of the sports daily either. But I want to thank you guys. Every one of you who tunes in, whether it’s daily, whether you catch me five times a week, four times a week, three times two or one, whatever the case may be, I wouldn’t be doing this if the numbers were garbage, put it that way.
Because time is money. And if I’m not getting a return on the time that I’m giving to put in these podcasts, it’s not worth doing. So I think all of you for keeping me in business and keeping me wanting to do these daily, because I’ve enjoyed it. It’s something that I’m thinking about all throughout the day.
Like anytime I see something online or a thought comes to my head, I immediately write it down in my notes. And then before I sit down to record, I take my notes and I just copy and paste them over to a Microsoft word document. And I’m like, okay, these are the one things, things of the topics that I want to talk about today, because I realized as I’m getting older, if I don’t write stuff down immediately, and it’s funny because.
I’ll have something come to me or I’ll see a story if I don’t write it down in my notes right away. I just forget it. And I’m talking, I could forget it 10 minutes later. It’s really weird because I’m like, Oh, I can’t possibly forget that story. This is a big one. And then 10 minutes later I’m like, Oh yeah, what was the thing I needed to talk about?
And then I’m just blanking. So I write it all down. It’s all in my notes app on my phone. And as I go along throughout the day, I’m constantly thinking of what are topics I can talk about on the daily roundup. So. Happy two year anniversary everybody. Thank you all for participating and let’s make it another two years.
Let, let’s be here on July 11th, 2026 and me saying, Hey, it’s our four year anniversary. Last night I did a live on YouTube because I wanted to go over the two teasers that Jen season gave us in episode one on Monday, the one at the beginning of the episode, which is about a minute long and. It showed Janet the final rose ceremony.
It showed her earlier in their day, talking to Jesse. And then it showed her in a dress, walking down a hallway, I guess, trying to make people think that that was somehow related to why that wasn’t even in Hawaii. That was in Seattle. So that part of her walking down the hallway, knocking on a door and walking into a room.
I don’t know what room she walked into. I don’t know who was in that room. I don’t even know what the details of that conversation were and why she was going to a room. All I know is it was in Seattle. So. Three episodes had passed before we see the final rose ceremony stuff. So I wouldn’t read too much into that.
And then we also went over and I showed the video clip of the four minute trailer at the end of the first episode and broke down every single scene in it for the most part, and when and where it took place and. It’s all on video. Is this like, this is the one thing, this is why I definitely wanted to go over to YouTube.
Yes. I had to be, you know, told numerous times by Dave Neal, man, you got to get on YouTube. And I’m like, okay. It took me a while. I had to do a lot of quote unquote training and somebody helped me out huge up big ups to Brad for, for doing what he did to walk me through everything on how to work YouTube and how to work stream yard.
It’s definitely paid off because something like last night that YouTube video that I put out that live stream that I did where I’m on the screen and I’m also showing you a video and walking you through, I’d never be able to do that. That wouldn’t translate to an audio podcast. It just wouldn’t. You need to see the clip and be like, Oh, this is her at the night portion of her one on one date with Spencer.
Oh, this is the after party of the group date in episode five in New Zealand. And you know, that’s, you needed to see that stuff with your own eyes. So if you missed it, it’s on my YouTube channel. Go there. Reality Steve on YouTube. It’s the latest one. It says Bachelorette Gen season trailer breakdown. You can’t miss it.
I put it in. In yesterday’s episode by episode column. So it’s now in there. It’s embedded in that column. If you want to check that out. So it’ll always be there and it’s always going to be on my YouTube channel. Obviously it’s not going to come down. So check that out if you missed it and everything is covered and you know, basically every single shot of that trailer, good news coming out of bachelor nation as Jen’s ratings for Monday came in.
You saw a bachelor data, put it up last night on her Instagram, by the way, bachelor data. Is today’s weekly podcast number three 99. Look at the timing of that. So the day we hit the two year anniversary of the Daily Roundup is also the day of podcast 399. Man, it could have been a week. It could have been great timing, 400th weekly episode and two year anniversary.
But anyway, Bachelor Data is on podcast number 399 today. It’s just audio next week. We start video and audio on the weekly podcast. But The funny thing is as we were recording, well, we’ll get to that in a second, but the main points to take from the fact that Jen’s premiere on Monday drew 2. 8 million viewers.
You might, wow. Is that good? Is that bad? All you need to know is charities premiere last summer, right around the same time drew 1. 9 million viewers. She almost drew a million more viewers, basically the same show running at the same time on the same night. That is huge. Because I think a lot of people were like, you know, just like every season when Jen was announced and we know she wasn’t their first choice and the way they brought her out and everyone thought it was Daisy, then everyone thought it was Maria and then a bunch of people saying, ah, why are we watching Jen?
She finished in fifth place. We don’t even know her story. 2. 8 million viewers! Hell, she almost drew more than Joey’s premiere. Joey drew 3. 2? But Jen absolutely killed it on Monday. Her premiere won the 18 49 demo. Across all networks. It was the most watched show on Monday night on any network in the 18 to 24 demo, men and women, which means it absolutely destroyed everybody else in the women, 18 to 54 demo.
Jen’s premiere was the only, the fifth bachelorette premiere. There’s been 21 seasons of the bachelorette. This was only the fifth time the bachelorette premiere gained viewers from the previous bachelorette premiere. And as I said, she gained almost a million more. Then charity had last year on her premiere.
Jen is the first person of color to lead a, to gain viewers from a previous premiere in franchise history. So Matt didn’t do it. Rachel didn’t do it. Michelle young didn’t do it. I mean, this is this kind of stuff we’re talking about. She’s really done well for herself, at least through one episode. And remember Jen’s premiere was also competing against love Island USA.
Now, one of the other things that happened was as I was recording with Susanna bachelor data yesterday is when the news broke. That bachelor in paradise coming back. It’s not coming back this summer. It’s coming back next summer, 2025. We had pretty much speculated this. I was the one who mentioned like, it wasn’t going to be around this summer because they were going straight into golden Bachelorette filming after Jen’s season was done, which they did and go straight into it.
Jen’s season finale finished filming on May 16th and Joan started filming June 21st. So they waited about a month, but once we knew that golden Bachelorette was filming in the month that. Bachelor in Paradise usually films knew there wasn’t going to be a bachelor in paradise this year, but next year they are going to have it.
It’s not going to be at the place that it always is in Sayulita, Mexico, because they have new ownership. It’s not going back there. We have no idea where it’s filming, but. There’s plenty of time for that. We’re 11 months away from BIP season 10 filming. So no need to get all crazy about details regarding it.
We just know it’s coming back now with it coming back. Are they going to be able to squeeze in a golden bachelor or a golden bachelorette next year in 2025? I mean, the bachelor is going to air from January to March. The bachelorette is going to air either end of June, beginning of July through September.
Bachelor in paradise will air September into October. If we have a Golden Bachelor, Golden Bachelorette, they’re gonna have to start it. After bachelor in paradise, because I don’t think they’re going to do that thing where they run it on the same night again. So it would have to be once that is over and we don’t know, again, we’re over a year away from that possibly being the case.
So, well, I guess we’ll just have to see how Jones season goes. But I want to talk a little bit more about bachelor in paradise right after this break.
