I mean, honestly it’s almost a non-issue at this point because we all know how long Devin lasts on the show. So all these guys calling him out, great. They don’t end up lasting longer than him so what does it all matter anyway? No matter how you feel about Devin, and again I’m certainly not a fan of his personality. Just not my cup of tea. But no matter how you feel about him, what you think others should feel about him, ultimately it doesn’t matter what you or I think of him in the least bit. It matters what Jenn thinks. If this is what she wants, and this is what she likes in the type of guy she’s looking for, it’s her decision. Not mine or yours. Hell, you’ve seen me post a picture of Devin in Hawaii in his final rose ceremony suit. So to sit here in episode 2 and bitch and moan about how Devin acts, seems to be all for naught. It’s gonna be a looooooong season if every time Devin opens his mouth, people are gonna be bothered. Because you’ve got 9 more episodes of it. He’s not changing. So on one hand, the guy told you in episode 1 how he is, and he’s acting exactly how he said he is. On the other hand, it’s going to annoy a lot of people. But if it doesn’t annoy Jenn, then what does it matter. Hell, we already know where Jenn was leaning that early in the season because she sided with Devin all episode. So Thomas and Aaron are having their stay of execution right now since we know how this ends up.

For Marcus’ 1-on-1 date they went skydiving. We even got the proverbial “Jumping out of this plane is a lot like falling in love…” line which we hear seemingly every season, or a variation there of. This show is back, baby! But last time I checked, when you’re skydiving, not really a chance to get to know someone, so the important part of this date is the dinner portion where Marcus opened up about being an Army Ranger, and on his last mission he ended up in the hospital for 2 months due to a grenade going off near him. Well, it looks like we have our storyline all season. The hero Army Ranger versus the loud obnoxious guy. Can’t say we’ve ever seen a “good vs evil” final 2 in a while on this show. And when I say “evil,” again, don’t take it out of context. There are way worse contestants in the past on this show than Devin. He’s just loud, cocky, and obnoxious. But when you put him up again Marcus in the finals, it’s like night and day. Can we fast forward to the ATFR? Because Jenn is gonna be catching strays all season long with people wondering why she picked him. And usually, the lead doesn’t need to defend their decision at the end. She will to about half her audience this season considering the visceral reaction Devin is giving people after last night.

On the other group date with the safari photo shoot, Dylan ended up getting alone time and the group date rose because he put the snake around him. Dylan and Grant from earlier, to me, came off great this episode. Two guys the audience seemed to get behind. Didn’t involve themselves in any drama and gave their attention to Jenn. Although maybe some will side eye Grant just for telling Devin that he respects the fact he’s been true to himself the whole time and isn’t apologetic for who he is. I mean, if you’re gonna hate on Grant for that comment, then this season is doomed. The whole guilt by association in Toxic Bachelor Nation is so petty and ridiculous, yet, it happens every season.

At the cocktail party, it became another Devin situation as he pulled Jenn aside first after she walked in which, again, could’ve been done by any guy there. This infuriated the 8 guys who were sent home on the group date because Devin said he’d respect the fact they didn’t get time with her when they arrived home. Again, because he went first, I don’t know how that disrespected their time when plenty of men got to talk to her at the cocktail party. He just went first, like he said “to get it out of the way.” But of course, production made sure that happened because they knew others guy would be bothered by it, and they fell right into productions trap AGAIN. The storyline is already tired and we’re two episodes into the season. At this point, we know what we’re getting with Devin, and anyone bothered by him might as well not watch the rest of the season, because this is changing anytime soon. As long as he’s there, other guys are gonna complain about him. Yet he outlasts all of them. So, no need to dissect the Thomas/Devin argument at the rose ceremony since all you need to know is Jenn sided with Devin when she spoke to Thomas, and even Thomas realized he made a mistake. Fun times ahead!

One correction to make in the spoilers was I had Brian going home in episode 3 and Hakeem in episode 2. That is flip flopped as we saw Brian go home last night. Hakeem will be eliminated next episode. I mean, if ABC would’ve just shown that clip of Hakeem on the racing date BEFORE last night’s end of the episode preview for next week, I would’ve known Brian went home this episode. Oh well. Minor correction there.

I’m also curious about Aaron next week since the storyline of him being called to go to flight school and having to leave the show certainly doesn’t seem like it’s being shown or coming next episode. We see him at the rose ceremony telling Jenn someone’s not there for the right reasons. So we’ll see how his exit is shown. Maybe he just doesn’t get a rose and they don’t show that storyline. But that’s the reason he left the show.
