Podcast #411 – Interview with Taran Armstrong

Getting down to the nitty gritty of “Big Brother” season as I believe the finale is next Sunday night the 13th? Anyway, with that in mind gotta have who I believe is one the best, if not THE best, Big Brother recapper out there, and that’s Taran Armstrong from “Rob Has a Podcast.” Taran usually comes on once a year towards the end of the season to discuss what we think could happen during this final 5. A lot of interesting theories here that he presented which I myself hadn’t even thought of yet. I was under the impression that I only saw two possible people winning this thing: Makensy or Chelsie. And not only that, I figured anyone sitting next to them – Cam, Rubina, or Kimo – wouldn’t even get a vote. Apparently I’m way off and sleeping on one of those three. Anyway, another great conversation with Taran that I’m excited for you all to hear. Thanks again to Taran for coming on as he’s always providing great insight on the show. Enjoy…

(SPOILERS) I begin by talking about what’s the latest on Grant’s season and how to pronounce some of the women’s names. Then Taran joins me (7:44) to break down the final 5 this season on “Big Brother,” who has the upper hand right now, can more than two people win this season, who’s a sleeper, game play vs social play, and much, much more.

DAILY ROUNDUP 10/4 TRANSCRIPT

You are listening to the daily roundup here as part of the reality. See podcast. I am your host reality. Steve, thank you all for tuning in on this Thursday. Got a lot to talk about in today’s podcast. What’s coming up in a couple hours. We’ve also got my night from last night. We’ve got a new location that the bachelor will be headed to after today’s Or tonight’s rose ceremony in Madrid.

I’ve also got some corrections from yesterday’s podcast. Golden bachelorette did not watch it, but I got your emails. We’ll discuss why I didn’t know you’re all asking about big brother. Thank God wasn’t on last night. So that’s one less show I have to watch. Although we do have a two hour episode tonight and some news in the world of Jackson, Brittany.

Apparently he doesn’t know how to fill out paperwork. We’ll get to all that momentarily. So I just wanted to start off with this. Went to the Addison Improv last night to see my friend Jen Sturger perform. She was the headliner, excuse me, the opener for Anna Akana. If you have not seen Anna Akana’s stand up, very, very funny, very, very dark.

And, I mean, when you go see a comedian, it’s comedy. You know, you’re supposed to laugh. And sometimes people say certain things should never be talked about on stage. And I don’t necessarily agree with that because they’re jokes. If a comedian is up there and they’re not telling jokes and they’re absolutely insulting people, then that’s different.

Anna Akana’s one hour set was, I’d say at least the last half hour. But there was parts in the first half hour where she spoke about it. It’s a lot of talk about suicide, but done in a very tasteful way. And she’s not just talking about suicide for the hell of it. She’s talking about suicide because her sister committed suicide 17 years ago, and she’s made it her act.

And it’s a very delicate balance because how do you make suicide a lighthearted topic? And she does. She’s an absolutely fantastic storyteller. I had never seen her stand up before. I had seen clips online, obviously when Jen told me she was going to be in town and opening for, I Googled some stuff, watched some of her clips, very funny.

And the other thing I noticed when I clicked on her IMDB page is she did six episodes on one of my favorite shows of all time, top five for me, at least. A million little things. And when I got to talk to her afterwards, I’m like, man, I watched every episode of a million little things, but I never binged watch it after I saw it.

I saw every episode once. So I can’t recall stuff back from season two and season three, like I could from Beverly Hills, 90210 and 24 and all that, because I’ve seen those shows numerous times, loved million little things, but I’ve only seen every episode once. So I was like, what, what role did you play?

What was it? And what season was it? She goes, I think it was season three or four. It was after Eddie got in the car accident and he was in a wheelchair and she played a singer that was on Coke. And I was like, again, I kind of remember it, but when you only seen every episode once it was tough, but very, very, very, very, very, very, very I mean, it’s, it’s just a different type of standup, you know?

I mean, who talks about suicide on stage? She does for most of her act, but it is really, really good. She’s just doing something that really no comedian out there is doing. Jen had a great 20 minute opening set and I saw something that I’d never seen before. I’ve watched standup comedy since I was in sixth grade.

I mean, I used to watch the Rodney Dangerfield special on HBO every year. Even when I didn’t really understand the nature, the sexual nature of their jokes, I still thought it was funny. But, I mean, you go back to 6th grade, I was what, 11 years old in 6th grade? Been watching stand up comedy for 38 years and something I saw last night I had never seen before.

There was a deaf person in the audience. So there was a translator up on stage for both Jen and Anna’s act. I’ve never seen that before. Yes. You might’ve been a comedy shows where there was a translator, but they were usually on a screen and they were somewhere else around the stage. Both of these women shared a stage with a translator.

I had never seen that before ever. Hell, I’ve never been to a show or even seen a show on TV where the translator was visible. Whether it was on a screen or that person was in a different, you know, standing in the front. They were on the stage with both comedians, with Jen and Anna. So, if you ever get a chance, Jen’s stuff, Jen doesn’t have a lot of stuff online.

But I talked about this yesterday the life of a comedian they are in they were in Dallas last night They leave tomorrow this morning. They left for Houston. So they’re in Houston tonight, Houston. Oh, you stony ites Yourselves. Hey, you don’t have the ass. Yeah, they don’t the Astros to watch anymore You don’t have to go to that game nice effort go out to Find that where they’re playing tonight and go see them and then Friday.

They’re in Atlanta Saturday, they’re in Nashville, and then Sunday, they’re in Colorado. I mean, talk about the life of a tour as a stand up comedian. Five cities, five different days. Go check them out. So found out last night because it was pointed out to me by a lot of you. You sent me the screenshot from the Instagram account.

Bachelor nation, bachelor nation the bachelor nation. com and the Instagram account posted that you can be in the audience for one of grants dates. And it is for this Sunday in Edinburgh, Scotland. So they’re going from Madrid to Scotland. So tonight is rose ceremony number four in Madrid. They’ll travel Friday, probably start dates Saturday, or maybe Sunday is the first date this date that they’re promoting people to come out for or sign up for.

You don’t just show up, you have to sign up, get approved. You’ll be on a list when you get there. Anybody from Scotland, Scottish, right? Is that, is that the Scotland accent Scottish?

The date is Sunday, October 7th, approximately 1 to 7 PM. And the location is Edinburgh, Scotland, but you have to email them, go to bachelor nation. com. If you’re listening right now and you don’t feel like going. Email bachelor audience requests at gmail. com. So all the info is there. You leave your first and last name, your email address, your age, your up to date photo of yourself, and how many people are coming and then they’ll get back to you and then he’ll give you directions of what to do, but I don’t know how many people listen to my podcast from Scotland, if you do.

Try and go to the date on Sunday, but you got to email bachelor audience requests at gmail. com. And it’s for Sunday’s date in Edinburgh. Something I want to correct from yesterday’s podcast. You know, when the bachelor releases contestants on the Facebook page, that’s up for three days, and then we found their last names and found the Instagram accounts for all these women outside of Ella, you know, We still haven’t seen them on TV.

Still haven’t seen them speak. Still haven’t seen Grant say their name. We still haven’t seen Jesse say their name. So I’m really just going off spelling. And with the 10 women that I announced and showed you are the 10 women left in Madrid, apparently I butchered three of their names. I butchered, but I just mispronounced them.

So let’s get this clear. I called her Alexi Godin. It’s just Alex. A L E X E. It’s just, she’s just Alex. I called her Lydia, L I T I A, she is LaTia, and I thought I pronounced, I might have called her Carolina, but it’s Carolina, Carolina Sophia, so, Alex. Latia Carolina with the emphasis on the Lees in both of those names.

So just wanted to get that out there because I, you know, I don’t know how many of you, it’s just tough. We have no idea what their names are. We just see the spelling and obviously certain names. You could K a C a R O L I N a could be Carolina or it could be Carolina. I said Carolina yesterday, I guess, or the other day on the YouTube live stream, it’s Carolina.

And I, I know I said Lydia and it’s Latia and then I called her Alexi. It’s Alex.
