Daily Roundup 10/30 – Grant’s Season Ending, Jenn Eliminated From DWTS, Love Is Blind Reunion Tonight, & My Review Of “Woman Of The Hour”

So, as quite a few of you notified me yesterday after yesterday’s podcast.

I assumed love is blinds reunion show would be released just like all the previous 12 episodes were, which was, I think, 3 AM Eastern time. No, the reunion show is not being released till 9 PM Eastern time tonight. So I’m not even able to watch it right at eight because I’ll be watching golden bachelorette.

Then I got to go into survivor. You know what I might actually watch. Love is blind reunion after I watch golden bachelorette and then do survivor after that Only because I feel like because I do scroll on my phone when i’m watching golden bachelorette. There’s not it’s not riveting television Unfortunately, there’s three guys left.

We know who goes home tonight So it’s not like I need to be paying attention and looking at the screen for 90 straight minutes I have a feeling if i’m scrolling on my phone i’m going to come across love is blind reunion stuff and I don’t want to So i’ll watch golden bachelorette I’ll then watch the love is blind reunion.

Cause golden bachelorette will end at eight 30, my time. So I’ll be a half hour late to starting the love is blind reunion. I’m sure it’s probably going to be an hour and 15 minutes, an hour and 30 minutes. And then in a survivor and then recording two podcasts, actually, I’m gonna have to record my sports podcast before that, because I don’t want to start recording two podcasts at 1130 tonight.

No, thank you. So I’ll get the sports one out of the way early. And then watch those. And obviously, like I said, tomorrow got to prep for the. Hot bench the interview with Rachel Juarez from the TV show hot bench, by the way Dave Neal is going to be joining me as I told you he’s gonna be joining me on that podcast So it’ll be the three of us Because Dave is much better on details and timeline since he covered it daily for nine months I followed along, but when you don’t cover something daily, it’s very easy for me to miss out on.

Wait, when did that happen? And what happened here? And when was the fake sonogram? The timeline stuff is what screws me up sometimes. So that’s why I want to bring Dave on. But we are going to talk with Rachel Juarez, who. Is a judge on hot bench, but when you heard her on a month ago on the podcast, she says she’s not a judge.

She just plays one on TV, but she’s a family law attorney and she knows all about the case. Now she’s caught up. She watched the trial. She read Judge Mata’s 19 page judgment. She watched. She read. Gingras’s blog post the day Judge Mata ruled in favor of Clayton. She’s definitely got some thoughts that we are going to hear.

And I can’t wait to hear from somebody in the legal field. Who’s in family law, who has their own family law practice. This is going to be a really, really good episode. That’s why I don’t want to wait till Friday. I want to record it Thursday afternoon. Like I said, I’m recording with her and Dave on at 12 o’clock central time.

And right when we’re done, I’ll do the necessary things needed to get that thing posted. So it’ll be up around four Eastern time. So three my time and obviously two mountain and one Pacific. So you just have to wait a few extra hours. Where was I going? Oh. So I don’t know how I got into that again with a love is blind talk, but love is blind tonight, reunion show, 9 p.

m. Eastern time. And again, Tyler’s the one that we want to hear from. The thing is, I don’t know when this was recorded and I don’t know if this was recorded before Tyler’s baby mama. Released all of her stuff this weekend. Did they record this last Wednesday, Thursday or Friday? Because if they didn’t, then it’s not going to, or before last, actually, when did she release her stuff?

It was over the weekend, wasn’t it? I can’t even remember. So there’s a good chance he’s not even gonna be able to touch on it because maybe she said her piece on her five Instagram posts. After they had already recorded this reunion. So maybe he’s not even able to talk about it. I don’t know, but we’ll, we’ll, we’ll get all answers tonight.

And if the reunion show was recorded before his baby mama released those Instagram posts, then we’re going to have to see what Tyler says, because now the season will be completely over. He can go on podcasts. He can go on his Instagram story. He can go on his Instagram feed. And address what the baby mama said, and she can probably, I’m guessing she’s not done talking either.

So we will have to just keep an ear out for that. Finally, I wanted to give you, like I said, I don’t want to make this podcast a movie review podcast, and you tell me, Hey, Steve, watch this and tell us what to think, but the woman of the hour. On Netflix written, uh, directed by and starred in by Anna Kendrick.

I ended up watching yesterday because I talked about it. I had seen the trailer and the trailer was really creepy. And I was like, this is a good story. Obviously it’s based on a true story as well. So I was like, I want to watch this and I want to see exactly how it plays out. And I’ll give you my thoughts.

So here’s the biggest thing that I want to say about the movie. And that is, I understand the movie is. About this woman, Cheryl, who goes on the dating game in 1978. And one of the three contestants is a guy who had killed women and raped women before he got on. And I think the crazy thing about all this is for those that don’t know the story or don’t think a lot, you wouldn’t under, I was just wondering why it seems like the title.

Is revolving around this woman and it really isn’t the story is more about him about Ronald Rodney, Ronald Rodney Akala. It’s really more about him. Yes. He appeared on the dating game in this Cheryl woman played by Anna Kendrick. I understand that part of it, but you watch this movie. We know way more about Rodney Alcala than we do about Cheryl, other than she had moved to LA and she wanted to be an actress, so it wasn’t necessarily bad, I’m just saying woman of the hour, I went into it thinking that this whole movie was going to be centered around the episode that she appeared on the dating game.

And maybe that’s the last it’s about 20 minutes of the 90 minute movie. So there’s that, but I didn’t mind it. I’m just saying woman of the hour and people see the previews. And it’s about this woman who goes on the dating show and ends up picking a guy who hadn’t murdered people in the past. The movie is more about him and his murders and what he did to women.

Second thing, it’s very triggering. Obviously, sexual assault is portrayed in this movie. So if you. Triggered by that stuff, by all means, just know that going in. I thought it was excellently acted. He is great as a serial killer. Obviously I thought Anna Kendrick played the part. Well, I watched the clip of the 1978 dating game.

After I watched the movie and it is pretty eerie. This guy was a creep show for sure. But the one thing with me, especially when I watch a movie based on a true story is I immediately went to the internet to find out how accurate was the movie and compared to real life events. And I found an article on Rolling Stone that, Hey, I’m going to give talk spoilers here real quick about the movie.

So if you haven’t seen it and you are planning on watching it, you can fast forward or pretty much I’m ending the podcast with this story, so you could be done here if you want. So, in the movie, she picks him and they win a all expenses paid trip to Carmel, California. That’s what happens in the movie. In the actual TV show, he was bachelor number one.

In the movie, he was bachelor number three. And the prize that they won was tennis lessons and a trip to Magic Mountain. So again, it’s just like, I don’t know why you couldn’t have just said that in the movie. Why the all expense paid trip to Carmel? I don’t know. I don’t really understand why you would change that, but the biggest thing was in the movie we see after the show they go on a date, but it’s not even really a date.

It’s just, they have drinks right after the show. Like she’s walking off the lot. He finds her and he says, why don’t we just go get a drink? Apparently that never happened. She never even got drinks with this guy because she told the producer she thought he was creepy, which he was for sure. So that was an inaccuracy.

Okay. Okay. One of the big stories in the movie, the woman in the audience who recognized Rodney Alcala because she identified him as the man who raped and murdered her friend a year earlier. That never happened. There was never, there was never anybody that was a member of the studio audience that recognized Rodney and reported him to the show.

So. And Anna Kendrick said, while the character, that woman’s character is fictional, she basically put her in there because she represents the grief and frustration of the real life people who tried to report Alcala. So I have no problem with that. But it was interesting when I was watching, I was like, oh shit.

Was somebody there that actually knew this guy and they were trying to get the word out? No, never happened. Alcala was not a photographer for the LA Times, but he did work at the LA Times. That’s a minor detail. Don’t really care about that. Um, the main person who got him arrested, uh, the teenage runaway who he raped, And then she basically forgave him on the spot because she knew if she put up a fight, he would probably would have killed her.

Um, she gets back in the car, they go to a gas station, she hops out of the car when he goes to the bathroom, she calls police, he gets arrested. That was all real. Her name was Monique Hoyt. She was a 15 year old and she was the escape, uh, the escapee, uh, from him. And it said it played out largely like it did on screen.

And that’s how the movie ended, you know, followed by. The on screen text of explaining everything that happened to Rodney on college. They think he killed almost 130 people Isn’t that crazy? Nobody in today’s day and age could get away with killing. I’m talking about a homicidal maniac Obviously if if someone were to bomb a building, yeah, you’d have multiple casualties and I guess you would be considered Oh, I killed X amount of people that were in the building.

I’m talking about something like this where this guy One on one was just able to coerce women into being alone with him, pretending he was a photographer and then killing them. I don’t think you could get away with multiples of that right now. I don’t want to know if that happens, but I overall, I really enjoyed it.

It’s definitely gripping. It’s definitely chilling. It’s definitely very intense and definitely a trigger warning. Uh, for anybody, because sexual assault is definitely portrayed in the movie, but really well done. Love Anna Kendrick. I thought she was great in it and he was just, he did his job. He came across as looking like a creepy serial killer.

Anyway, thank you all for listening. Really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple podcasts, also rate and review, but you got to hit play. It’s the only way it counts as a download sports daily. We’ll be up in an hour from now. So check that out. Thanks again for listening. And I will talk to you tomorrow.
