Been a while since we had today’s guest on. So much so, I can’t for the life of me remember the last time she came on. I wanna say around COVID, but I’m not sure. Either way, she’s back. Olivia Caridi, former host of the “Mouthing Off” podcast and “Bachelor” contestant on Ben Higgins season. What has she been up to since ending her podcast? What’s her new obsession (Hint: it’s the same as someone else from her season)? Her thoughts on villains now in this day and age? That and we end with the “Rapid 10.” Before that, I briefly go over what was on the “Daily Roundup,” namely the confusion stemming from Gerry and Theresa’s interviews with People.com yesterday. Seems to be some serious miscommunication issues. Also, “Survivor” last night had me scratching my head as well as I try to sort through it. Again, thanks to Olivia for coming on as she’s always been one of my favorites to have on. Definitely won’t be another four years before she’s back.

DAILY ROUNDUP 12/12 TRANSCRIPT
You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality C podcast. I’m your host, Reality Steve. Thank you all for tuning in on this Thursday. Really, really good show for you today. We’re going to tell you what’s coming up in podcast number 421 in a couple hours. We are also going to discuss what happened yesterday.
With Gary Turner and Teresa Nist, both doing interviews with people, magazine, people. com. And I’m just as confused as the next person. I don’t understand what’s going on here and what happened because it seems like the right hand’s not talking to the left with these two and we will dissect it and go over what they said.
And maybe you can explain it to me better. And I’m just missing something here. We’re also going to talk about survivor. I’ve got questions about last night’s episode. We’re going to talk about the challenge. I have a reader email call a reader email to read, and maybe we’ll get to this story I have regarding Michael Jackson, which is just totally bizarre.
We’ll get to all that momentarily. All right. Just to say right off the bat, podcast number four 21, coming up at 9 15 AM Eastern time on my YouTube channel at reality, Steve 24. It is with Olivia Carini. It’s been a while since we talked to her years. Actually, I think it was pre COVID. But I could be wrong.
I have no idea the last time Olivia was on the podcast, but I feel like mate COVID was like the earliest it could have been. So at least four years. Great talk with Olivia today, coming up at 9 15 AM Eastern time. Go to my YouTube channel, like it, subscribe, leave a comment, do whatever you need to do.
podcast feed around that time as well. So I want to jump right into what happened yesterday. Okay. People. com did an exclusive with Gary Turner, our first golden bachelor. And the headline said, Gary Turner diagnosed with cancer weeks before Teresa Nist split. And he basically said it had a huge bearing on my decision.
And he said, As Teresa and I were trying very hard to find our lifestyle, and where we were going to live, and how we were going to make our life work, I was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer. He got a shoulder injury during pickleball, And the orthopedic surgeon said, there’s not much we can do for your shoulder, but there are some unusual blood markers here.
So an orthopedic surgeon went to the family doctor, family doctor referred me to an oncologist. And now I’m working with a hematology oncology group in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was diagnosed with a slow growing bone marrow cancer with a really long name called Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia.
I probably pronounced that wrong, but the disease changes white blood cells into cancer cells and builds up in the bone marrow. He said, unfortunately, there’s no cure for it. So that weighs heavily in every decision I make. It was like 10 tons of concrete were dropped on me and I was in a bit of denial for a while.
I didn’t want to admit it. And then. He basically went on to say it’s hard for me. He told Teresa about it. Conversation was brief, and I think she was a little bit awestruck by the news, so understandable. I wanted my life to continue on as normal as possible. And that led me to believing that as a normal as possible, more men.
More meant spending time with my family, my two daughters, my two sons in laws, my granddaughters, and the importance of finding the way with Teresa was still there, but it became less of a priority. And he said judgments made about his separation were unfair to them. Okay, first off, I just want to say this.
I understand that Gary Turner had no obligation. To open up about a cancer diagnosis back in February when he found out, at least to us publicly. Clearly he told Teresa, which obviously he, you would in that situation. But I, I, it’s very hard to sit here and have him say, you know, this was unfair. That everyone made judgments because we broke up in March.
Well, Gary, we didn’t know this. Clearly if we knew you had cancer, nobody. Absolutely. Would have said that. And if your response is, well, you never know what people are going through, so don’t judge, I’m sorry, then nobody’s allowed to have an opinion about anything in any walk of life because anybody can just say, you don’t know what they’re going through.
So Gary, when you get divorced three months after a wedding and this isn’t brought up, which you did not have any obligation to tell us. You can’t then just say it was unfair that people were commenting about your breakup, you know Because that’s just that doesn’t make any sense. Of course people are going to comment about a breakup Three months after you got married, but if we knew about a cancer diagnosis, I guarantee Nobody would have said a word about like, oh another failed bachelor Relationship, you know, so you can you can save me with that.
So You I totally understand now, Gary saying, look, I had a cancer diagnosis in February that played a major role in my breakup with Teresa, 100 percent behind Gary on that as well. That makes total sense. You have cancer based on what he said here. And this is honestly something that I want to talk about.
He said that this cancer that he received, which got into his bone marrow was incurable. So when I was reading this story, when it first came out from Gary. And honestly, maybe I’m just dumb, please, please tell me. But when he says I have cancer and it’s incurable to me, that means he’s going to die of cancer.
He’s going to die from this because he’s got cancer and they can’t cure it. Right. I mean, I, that may sound dumb, but when I read the story, I felt like he doesn’t have much longer to live. And maybe that’s where I made my mistake in assuming that’s what he meant by coming forward with this. So it was really confusing to me, this story of, okay, but where is he at health wise?
Or is it something where he was like, look, I don’t know where it’s going to take me. I could possibly die from this in a year or two. So I want to spend all time with family and friends and I just can’t put Teresa through this. You know, he did say, I’m going to pack as much fun as I possibly can into my life and enjoy every moment.
And when I’m gone, I’m gone, but I’m not going to have any regrets. But there was nothing in the story that said how much time he was given with this. So I was like, I’m just confused. Is, does he have some sort of, is this terminal? Does he have six months? Does he have a year? Does he have two years? Or is it something that he just doesn’t know?
Because he didn’t even say that in the story. Like, look, I don’t know. Just said, I’m going to live my life. And when I go, I go, I was like, okay, but I did understand. Okay. Totally makes sense. You found out you had cancer in February. You had just married this woman. It makes sense that you want to prioritize family and friends.
Got it. Well then Teresa literally 15 minutes later, people magazine clearly went to her and said, Hey, Gary came out with his story about cancer. You know, what are your thoughts on this? Obviously, I’m sure he told you about it. And this is where things got confusing even more to me. And she said sometime in March is when he told her, she said it was devastating news.
I was extremely upset. And then despite his diagnosis, Teresa said, he told me though, that it was the type of cancer that he would most likely outlive.
And I was like, okay, well, so this isn’t terminal cancer. This is something that he’s just going to have to deal with probably get treatment on it, take medicine for it, whatever. And then she went on to say. She told people that his diagnosis, quote, wasn’t a factor in the ending of our relationship, at least not for me.
If that was something on his part, maybe, I don’t know. But no, that didn’t factor into ending the relationship. Part of it was the distance, but that wasn’t the only part. That’s really all I will say. And that’s probably the second or third time Teresa has gotten to a point where she’s like, look, I’m not talking about the breakup anymore, but there is something there that I’m just not going to get into.
So she says it had nothing to do with the health issue, at least on her end. And she says, It was the distance, but that wasn’t the only part. And that’s all I’ll say. So it really seems like these two had a lot of communication issues because it does seem like the right hand. Isn’t talking to the left hand here, because when you read both of those stories yesterday, it almost felt like two different people saying two different.
Like I’m confused on what the hell happened now. I’m even more confused than I was before this story came out that Gary had cancer because, huh, I, I read his story on when it first came out on people. And I thought, okay, he doesn’t have much longer to live. But then Teresa says, yeah, he told me. And he said, and he said he was going to outlive it now.
Maybe that’s him just being optimistic or I, again, I said he had no obligation to tell the public about a cancer diagnosis. I totally understand that. But. The whole thing about, you know, people judged us and, you know, you didn’t, you don’t know what’s going on in somebody’s life. So don’t make any comment, come on.
Then nobody’s allowed to say anything about anybody. And that’s just, that doesn’t make any sense. Literally. If you told us, if there was a story out there in March, when the breakup happened or April, whenever it was that you had been diagnosed with cancer, nobody would have criticized the breakup, but two people break up in People are going to comment on it.
And for you to say, after the fact, after you tell us you had cancer in December, when you had it since February, I, yeah, people are, you know what I’m saying? It’s like, okay, you can’t, you can’t really do that. So I’m, I’m just as confused now as I was beforehand. I don’t know his situation. I hope it’s something that he can live with for a while.
And I hope that this isn’t some sort of clock that’s ticking down for him and this type of cancer He’s only got 18 months 24 months 36 months I don’t know according to Teresa when he told her he made it seem like this is something he’s going to outlive So I guess I guess time will tell but there’s obviously Yet another factor that led to their breakup that Teresa just won’t go into this podcast brought to you by mint mobile You You know me when it comes to Mint Mobile.
