So I wanted to get to a reader email that was sent yesterday. A couple of things in this email that I thought I’d address the first couple of paragraphs were just about how they were a fan and they were once on my he said, she said podcast with Ashley Spivey and stuff.
So that was great to hear. And then they said, I’ve thought a lot about what you said in regards to what Taylor Swift will do next. I have an idea, but I think she would, but I think you think she would never do it, but I can’t help, but think that for the right price, she might a Las Vegas residency.
Obviously this wouldn’t happen right away. She definitely needs a break from her schedule, but it could happen. Here’s what I’ll say about it. I don’t think it’s a bad, I immediately wouldn’t shoot that down, but here’s my issue. It’s not like it’s going to be her next tour. Even if her next tour is not till 2027 or 2028.
I don’t think it’s her next one in terms of, well, it wouldn’t even be a tour. It would just be a residency. I don’t see that being the case. However, could I see this later on in her career? Sure. You know, some people have residencies into their seventies and eighties. Let’s share has a residency, right?
She’s in her seventies. I just don’t think this is something that Taylor’s doing still at the height of her career. The other thing that you have to take into account is Taylor just wrapped up, what was it, 147, I keep seeing different numbers, but basically, anywhere between 147 and 155 shows, and every single one of those shows was done in a 60, 000 seat stadium.
Minimum. She’s done them all in football stadiums. So, you gotta understand, if she does a residency in Las Vegas, she’s not gonna do a residency At Allegiant stadium, which is the, where the Raiders play. So the only arenas she can do it in would be T Mobile arena, which she can’t do it in because you have a hockey team that plays there 41 games a year.
And in a couple of years, probably an NBA team that plays there as well. So you’ve got all indoor arenas, the Caesar’s palace, the sphere holds what? 17, 000. How is she going to do? I mean, could she, let’s just say she did it at the sphere. Okay. The sphere holds 17, 000. I mean, we saw what the ticket prices were for stadiums that held 60, 000 people.
You were getting upper debt tickets for 2000, 3000, 4, 000. That’s seating 60, 000. Do you know how many people are going to want to go see a Taylor Swift residency in New York? I mean, New York in Las Vegas. I mean, What are the prices on those tickets going to be in a 17, 000 seat sphere? Because that would be the biggest venue that she could possibly do it at.
I mean, put it this way. I might be missing out on a couple of venues, indoor venues in Las Vegas. Nothing’s more than 20 and nothing seating more than roughly 20, 000. So it’s going to be a third of the audience that she just played to for the last year and a half. I just can’t imagine what ticket prices for that are going to be.
It’ll be a little more intimate, sure. But this is something that I see her doing way later on in her career. Like when she’s in her fifties. I could see her settling down and do a residency. She can’t do it at the height of her career when she’s this popular. Those tickets would be 5, 000 for the cheapest seat.
I honestly think that I just don’t think you could get a normal ticket in a 20, 000 seat arena for her with how popular she is now. And like I said, this wouldn’t happen till earliest 2027, 2028. If we’re saying her next tour, isn’t going to be a tour, it’s going to be a residency in Vegas. She would have to do.
Thursday through Sunday, 40 weeks out of the year to try and satisfy everybody that would want to go see that. And I don’t think she would want to put herself through that. You know, it wouldn’t, it obviously wouldn’t be nearly the stage production that it was for the era’s tour. It’d be more of an intimate setting, probably a lot more acoustic stuff and her just singing, but doing the whole shebang with dancers and all that in a 20, 000 seat arena.
I just, I don’t see it happening. And those 20, 000 seat arenas. You’re going to have to block off probably 5, 000 of those seats because nobody’s going to be sitting behind her in those arenas. So when she used to do it, like when I saw her at the old Staples center in Los Angeles on the 1989 tour, you know, staple seats, 19, 000, well, there was probably three or 4, 000 seats blocked off because they were behind the stage.
So while it is a 20, 000 seat arena or 17, 000 at sphere, I just, I don’t, I don’t see it. Not at the height of her career. It, this would have to be something 10, 15 years down the road. So it’s not farfetched to think she would ever do Las Vegas for a residency, but it would have to be way down the line in her career, I think.
And then the other thing this person wrote was, I was thinking about who you could have on your podcast. I always appreciated your look on interviews and listening to someone’s stories. After you had Manon Matthews on your podcast, I started following her on IG and she is hilarious. And since your podcast, she’s gotten engaged and has a baby boy named River.
I’d love a follow up of her story on your podcast. I could look into that. I absolutely could just reach out to Manon and be like, Hey, would you be interested in coming on again? Because it’s been a while since I had Manon on. And I’m glad you started following her. I had her on because she was really funny.
I followed her stuff well before I had her on. And then one day I just reached out on Instagram. I was like, would you? Like to come on my podcast. I’d love to talk to you because it was also around the time that she had just written a book going through her divorce, where basically she got, I don’t want to say she got ghosted, but now I’m, I’m, I’m actually forgetting some of the details of her divorce or of her wedding.
But I think like, I want to say her fiance canceled like a month before. Or broke up with her a month before, or she found out all this stuff about him a month before, something like that. It was on that podcast that I did with her Google reality, Steve man and Matthews, you can pull it up, but yeah, I would not be against having her on again and just getting like an update and kind of a look at where you were when you wrote that book and look at how low you were in your life at that point that you were going on.
She did a lot of podcasts during that time and was very open about this relationship that she was in that devastated her. And now, you know. Being mother to a baby boy named river. Obviously she’s come a long way. So yeah, I would love to get an update from her. I’ll reach out to her in the next month or two and see if she, she’d be interested in doing it for sure.
And yes, I’m finally getting to this story because I just hate the way people. com does this. They literally, I guess, have a slow day. So their writers just go on Reddit and go into the, am I the asshole? Subreddit and just pull a story and make it a headline story. This one said single dad excited after buying a new house.
Now his girlfriend of four months is mad. He didn’t consult her first. Like, should this really be a story on people. com? Especially when they ripped it right out of, am I the asshole on Reddit? And they have no idea who this guy is. They have no idea if it’s even true. It’s just like. A conflicted Reddit user is struggling with his decision to purchase a home without taking into consideration his new girlfriend’s opinion, and wondering if he did the right thing.
The user, a single dad who goes by the name, Swimming age, 29, 44. Like they literally just ran a story and didn’t even bother to contact or do any vetting on swimming age, 29, 44, to find out if this is a real person or a real story, it was posted in the popular AITA forum, which stands for, am I the asshole?
He’s been looking for a home for over a year for himself and his two sons. He bought the home they’ve been living in when his children were little. He has since grown unhappy with his location. He finally came across a listing that was perfect for him and his boys. House came on the market in the neighborhood five minutes from work, ten to fifteen minutes from the boys school.
Was listed well below market value. My realtor called me. I saw it the same day and made an offer. And the offer was accepted. Now, he said, before purchasing the home, he began dating a new woman earlier this year. In February, er, February. Earlier last year, since we are in 2025 now in February of 2024, it was both casual and non exclusive until September when he wrote things became more serious.
In those four months, the topic of starting a family was discussed. And he said the girlfriend had indicated she wants to have kids. She has no kids currently. When he broke the good news to her about purchasing the home, she was less than thrilled. And she asked why I did not consult her. I mean, I understand someone going to one of the Reddits Reddit subreddits to talk about this with strangers.
That’s what people do. I don’t really understand it myself. I don’t, but I know it goes on, but I didn’t think this story was big enough to make it on people. com. You’d be like, well, why would somebody make this up? Trust me, people make stuff up online all the time. Maybe he’s just doing it to get engagement.
Maybe he’s just doing it because he’s bored. How about actually vetting this story to know if this is even true? And even if it is true. So a girlfriend was complaining, a girlfriend of four months was complaining, Hey, why’d you buy a house without consulting me? This isn’t like some sort of murder mystery or a catfishing.
This is so irrelevant. Why does people do this? I think they have a story every day where they just pull something from Reddit without even vetting it to know if it’s true. So bizarre. What a, what a total non story this is. Even if it was true and they vetted it, why are they posting about this? There aren’t any better stories on Reddit to go with other than, yeah, my girlfriend of four months is upset.
I bought a house. Who the fuck cares? What? Oh man. Anyway. Great way to start 2025. Everyone. Thank you all for tuning in. Really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple podcasts.
