Podcast #424 – Interview with Dave Neal (incl transcripts)

Joined again to start off the year with one of the best guys to have a conversation with, Dave Neal. Dave has become a great friend over the years and I think this was the first time we did a podcast where barely any Bachelor was talked. Sure, Grant’s season is still 3 weeks away, but we didn’t even really get into any nuts and bolts of the season. Dave dove into my relationship/dating history/present, we talked about social media, content creation, my Vegas party in 5 months, 2024, what to look forward to in 2025, and much, much more. Always a good chat with Dave that I hope you enjoy. Before that, I dive into a little of what was on the Daily Roundup today as well if you haven’t checked that out yet. Bizarre documentary on Netflix just released, more from the Blake/Justin case, Traitors season 3 preview, & more.

Don’t forget today’s podcast also up now on my YouTube Channel right now. Go watch, subcribe, like, and comment here:

DAILY ROUNDUP 1/2 TRANSCRIPT

You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality Steve Podcast. I’m your host, Reality Steve. Thank you all for tuning in on this Thursday. Good show for you today. I’m going to talk about the weekly podcast coming up in a couple hours. 9. 15 a. m. Eastern Time to be exact. Podcast number 424.

You might have already heard it because it was on Dave’s Neal channel yesterday. We are going to talk a little bit more about Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. We have details, a little bit more. His lawsuit against the New York times, where he’s suing them for 250 million. Devin Strader continues to make an ass of himself.

We are also going to talk about the traders trailer came out yesterday. I wouldn’t even call it a trailer. I think it was the first seven and a half minutes of the show. And then there’s a story. Well, it’s actually a Netflix documentary that just came out. I’m really, really shaking my head at, and we’ll get to all that momentarily.

So I wanted to immediately start off with podcast number four 24, coming up at 9 15 AM Eastern time on my YouTube channel at reality. Steve 24, and we’ll be in your podcast feed is with Dave Neal. It is Dave’s. Interview of me that we recorded earlier this week and he ran it on his rush hour podcast. He ran it on his YouTube channel, but for those that don’t follow Dave, uh, as I told you earlier this week, I’m also going to use it as my weekly podcast just because it’s tough to get somebody on this week, you know, New Year’s Eve, all that stuff.

So I was just like, you know what, I’ll just run it on mine as well. If you want to go give Dave a view on his YouTube channel and check it out, that’s fine. Give me a view. Subscribe, like comment, all that stuff. But I’m going to run that on my YouTube channel and your podcast feed coming up at 9 15 AM Eastern time.

And Dave went a little deep. I probably talked more about my personal life, even though it wasn’t a ton to share. It’s just stuff that I don’t talk about too often. And I give the reasons for that. Maybe some of you think I’m an idiot. Maybe some of you think I should get over it. Maybe some of you think.

I should kind of just adjust the way I think about things. Unfortunately, this is where I’m at right now with everything. And when it comes to my personal life, I’ve just always been a private person. Uh, when it comes to my personal life, um, it took me six weeks before I even mentioned that I was dating Kat and we would post stuff here and there.

This was back in 2020, uh, when Kat Dunn and I were dating and we posted stuff here and there, but I wasn’t over the top about it. And it’s just not something that I don’t think I’ll ever do. It’s not that I’m against posting on social media with a significant other. I just, it’s not something that I’m looking to do all the time as others are to each their own, but it has also prevented me probably from meeting more people too.

So that is part of the conversation with Dave. We also talk about content creation, talk about the bachelor. We, he gives out for the 2025, a rose, a thorn, you know, my best moment of 2024 worst moment of 2024 and planting a seed for 2025. We get into all that stuff. So a lot of the interview is not me interviewing him.

Just know that this isn’t a regular Thursday podcast. It’s him interviewing me because I was on his podcast and I didn’t want to turn around and be like, Hey Dave, can we just record something for me now? I’ll just be like, you know what? I just use this one. So that’s it for this week. And then next week, obviously we will go back to your regularly scheduled programming where I will be interviewing somebody on my weekly podcast.

So check that out. Coming up at 9 15 a. m. Eastern time on my YouTube channel. And in your podcast feed. So snippets came out that I saw online, tick talkers and Instagram. Feed searches had Justin Baldoni’s 87 page complaint against the New York times, where he’s suing them for 250 million. And I have not read the full thing.

I’ve seen the snippets that are on Tik TOK. So before I dive into it and, or before I give my opinions on it, I want to be able to read the full thing. But what I did see was him disputing what Blake said in her complaint. So I think this is going to be something where we truly don’t know. And even seeing the Justin things and even seeing the people covering what Justin wrote in his complaint, it all of a sudden turned the tables.

And I was like, see, Blake Lively is a bitch. See, she’s the one that needs complete control of everything. It’s just like. I feel like we’re at a, if you’re team Justin, you’re just going to believe everything that was in his complaint. And if you’re team Blake, you’re going to believe everything that was in her complaint.

I chose to, you know, I’m more team Blake than I am team Justin, but I still need to read his complaint. I’m willing to look at it and see it. The stuff that I saw, once again, I didn’t see it followed up with any evidence. That was the thing that I was hoping for. But then again, I have not read all 87 pages.

Maybe there is stuff in there. I know there are some text messages and stuff, but we went over this yesterday, the conversation that he had, where Blake said, I’m breastfeeding in my, in my trailer. If you want to go over lines, and he says, I’m eating and I’ll, you know, head on over there. And then he says in his complaint, that was turned into in her complaint.

Oh, he basically walks in on me when I’m undressed. I’m like, wait a second. That could have just been one instance where you told him, like, I think there’s going to be so many things that are going to be very, very hard for both of them to prove. So it’s almost going to be like, I don’t know what to believe in all this, but I’m not going to sit here and absolutely crucify Blake Lively as a woman on set when we know how the patriarchy works in Hollywood.

We know Hollywood is run by a bunch of rich white men, so I’m not going to sit here and immediately dismiss. The stuff that she had complaints about he’s saying in his complaint that that list of 30 demands that she had in her complaint that she said, I’m not going back to work until these parameters and these protections are put in place on set.

He’s saying he never saw them and he has no idea what those were until he saw her complaint. I’m sorry that I’m not saying he’s wrong, but obviously we need to get to the bottom of this. So Blake Lively in her complaint just made up. Oh yeah, no, we agreed to 30 protections that I wanted to have in place on set.

And Justin saying, I never even saw this. I never signed anything. Okay. The left hand is not talking to the right. That is 180 degrees different. It’s not like he said, Oh, there were a few more added. He’s saying, I literally never saw that. I don’t know where it came from. So I’m not going to sit here and say, Justin, you’re lying.

And I’m not going to sit here and say, Blake is telling the truth. I think we need more information. And I just think in this day and age, when everybody has to know the answers four seconds after they see things, that’s the problem we’re running into because everybody has to have this hard hitting opinion right now of who’s guilty and who’s innocent.

And there are just so many layers to this particular lawsuit by Justin and by Blake. They’re both claiming a lot of things. It’s not just one thing. Blake’s not saying, He did this, I’m suing him. And he’s not saying, The New York Times did this, I’m suing them. It’s a lot of things. So it’s almost like a laundry list.

And some of these things are literally 180 degrees of, It’s almost like a he said, she said at this point. Like, there’s got to be paperwork of this, right? If Blake Lively said, I’m not going back and filming that movie until these 30 parameters and protections are put in place, and Justin is now saying in his statement, I never even saw that.

I’ve never even seen this list of 30 things. I don’t know where this came from. Okay, well then, somebody is not talking to somebody, and somebody’s just flat out lying. Because that’s pretty extreme, don’t you think? How could it not be? This wasn’t like, oh, I gave him a contract to sign, and there was one sentence in a 10 page contract that he’s like, I never saw that sentence.

No, this is, I’m not coming to work unless these protections are put in place. And here’s 30 things that need to be changed on set. And in Blake’s complaint, she said, Justin and the wayfarer CEO both signed it. And Justin’s now saying, I don’t even saw that thing. I don’t even know what she’s talking about.

Again, this is going to be carrying on forever and ever and ever. And it’s just going to be so much back and forth. And it’s almost, I’m almost at the point now where I’m tired of talking about it, because I think a lot of people have to have, it’s just the way we are now in society. Everyone has to be guilty or innocent.

The second a story breaks, someone has to be the good guy. Someone has to be the bad guy. Right away when there’s probably a ton of gray area and when I did read Blake’s complaint I said if this is all true boy, what an absolute dickwad this guy is now I got to go read Justin’s complaint and see exactly what’s going on there and see if he was able to Provide evidence and follow up with things from that.

So there’s a lot still to break down here But in the coming weeks, I’m I’m going to try not to talk about it every day. Obviously with the bachelor coming up, we’re going to have more bachelor talk than pop culture talk and stuff like that. So we will get to that. If more stuff breaks in the coming weeks, not that this should surprise anybody, but in 2024, Devin Strader really showed his ass.

And showed what kind of a low life he was by his treatment of Jen, not only post show and during the breakup, but even after the breakup displaying text messages that were of the sexual nature, private text messages between them that he posted doing a 13 minute video where he basically trashed her.

Well, again, someone emailed me on Instagram yesterday. And there was a screenshot from a guy who lasted two episodes on GenSeason, Brian Otts. And Brian Otts posted a video, I guess he was hanging out with Devin on New Year’s Eve, and you know when you go to clubs, and then sometimes you get bottle service, and they bring over the scantily clad waitresses, who have streamers, and have like mini, what are those, sparklers going, and they have a giant sign that says something.

I don’t know. Well, there was a sign that was being brought in, I’m assuming to Devin’s table, because the video showed Devin dancing, right next to it, the video panned to Devin, he’s kind of dancing, and the sign, in bright marquee, white signed, black letters, the waitresses come over, the sparklers are going, and the sign said, Jen Ain’t It.

Which is just, it’s, it’s just comical at this point. What an ass this guy has turned into and what an ass he just continues to show himself to everybody. Jen ain’t it. How about Devin ain’t it? Like he’s acting like he was the bachelor and he dumped Jen because she cheated on him. Like, that would make way more sense, Devin, to have a sign saying, Dev, you know, Jen ain’t it, if you were with her, and you found out she cheated on you, and you don’t like her anymore.

It would be petty, and it would be very immature, but it would actually make sense. Saying Jen ain’t it. Well, you realize how stupid that looks, but again, this is Devin. We’re talking about, has this guy done one right thing since the season? And from the time he sat on the, after the final Rose couch live, has he said or done one right thing in the public?

I’ll answer that question for you. The answer is no, just funny that he and Brian probably think that was hilarious. And it was like, they were probably there on New Year’s Eve. Like, Ooh, sick burn. Look at, we got a sign that said, Jen ain’t it. Devin, you’re pathetic. Look at how much Jen has thrived since your season ended and look at your sorry ass life right now, dude.

Go away.
