Daily Roundup 3/31 – Major Ruling in the Echard/Owens Case, A Rant on Owen’s Lawyer, Juliana Responds to Trolls, My Review of the Back to the Future Musical, & My Indirect Connection to Joe from Survivor

So I want to talk about Juliana because she shot back at some internet trolls on TikTok over the weekend, and I have no problem with what she did because I think people like this need a little reality in their life. So somebody wrote under a TikTok video, you should really watch the last episode.

It was obvious he really loved somebody else. And Juliana chimed in and said Nothing is obvious on reality tv. It’s crafted and edited. He did love her, but she wasn’t his person and that’s okay. So Tabitha, the person who wrote that, probably feels like a moron. And then let’s see what Mary 1 9 3 7 2 8 wrote, you think this is gonna be a very positive comment she wrote.

He picked you because you gave it up in the fantasy suite and Latia didn’t. Latia is way too classy and good for him. He settled for you. He wanted to pick her up until the last minute Juliana responded. So you think after a year of being celibate, he just gave it up for me. I’d think again, girlfriend and also get a hobby.

The nerve of some people to write something like that. Obviously Mary 1 9, 3 7 2 8 will never be able to track her down and find out what her situation is. If she is a lonely person living with 15 cats or is a productive member of society, I would probably venture to guess against the latter, but this is what I mean, and I have no problem with Juliana.

Calling this person out because just a sick comment to make. It’s what, Mary? So you watch the show and you know that because Grant slept with Juliana and the overnight dates, that means that’s the only reason why he picked her. And Julie and Latia didn’t, when she didn’t even know that. And according to Juliana, they didn’t sleep together.

So this is what I mean. It’s just some people, the nerve of some people is unreal. And just, it’s just laughable that somebody has the balls to write something like that. And it’s not negative enough to where. Yeah, if you were able to find that person’s profile and track them down, report them to work, because they didn’t call Juliana names.

It wasn’t a racist comment. It was just somebody being rude on the internet, which is basically what 90% of what the internet is now. Just people being rude and shitting on other people and leaving negative comments towards reality TV show contestants, but. I have no problem with Juliana responding. I’m glad she did, and I hope those people just never write on the internet again, even though we know they will.

So I mentioned in the open, it was quite a time for the. Court of appeals in Arizona to lay down their judgment on the appeal that was filed by Laura Owens and her attorney, David Ingris, because it came down literally during the first act of the Back to the Future musical that I attended on Friday night with my nephew.

So I think there was about 10 to 15 minutes left in the first act when I got my first text about it. And during the intermission, I just sat in my chair and I read the things that were being said. I read the PDF file of the Arizona Court of Appeals Judgment. And, I skimmed through it. I didn’t read all 11 pages because it was really small and I had a hard time reading it on my phone.

But just an interesting time for it to come down. ’cause I was like, geez, of all the times it’s gotta come down now. ’cause now I’ve only got 15 minutes to read it and then I’ve got a whole second act of the play or the musical. Is it right to call, are you allowed to call musicals a play or, because it’s a musical, it’s not a play.

I don’t really know. ’cause I haven’t seen many plays or musicals in my life. This is only now the third musical I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen Phantom, I’ve seen Wicked, and now I’ve seen this. I’ve seen Back to the Future. Although, you know what? I did see Annie, I saw Annie on Broadway way back in the day that had songs in it.

Was that a musical or is that a play and is there a difference? Can you call a musical a play? Can you call Wicked a play? My guess is no, but I don’t know for sure. Regardless, my review of Back to the Future Musical that I saw this past Friday, it was absolutely awesome. I loved every second of it. I’d go see it again, even though it’s not coming back to Dallas anytime soon.

But the visual effects. The songs that were created were all very creative. There was one song in there that I didn’t particularly care for, and that was the first song to start the second act. ’cause it really didn’t have anything to do with the movie. Excuse me, with the storyline at all.

It was just like, I don’t know, it was bizarre. But every other song I was down with, I thought it was very creative and me having seen the movie a hundred times. I’m sitting there just trying to compare all the major things that were different from the movie to the musical, and obviously there’s just some things that you’re not gonna be able to cover in both of them.

The biggest one being Doc’s death and then the car chase scene, which they couldn’t do on a stage really, but it didn’t take away from the storyline because it’s basically following the movie as it goes along, but it’s just adding in songs throughout it. The number, the songs were great. The lyrics to the songs were great, the choreography to the dance numbers, it was great.

It was just a very good time. The four most familiar songs, earth, angel, Johnny, B Goode, power of Love, those were all literally in the last 15 minutes of the show. Yeah, you had to wait a while to get the familiar songs because none of the other songs you would even know weren’t in the movie.

They were created for the musical. But I absolutely loved it. I just thought it was, I, it was great and thoroughly enjoyed it. Got myself another t-shirt, which you’ll probably be seeing on this week’s YouTube interview, and. I just, I loved it. I didn’t know who any of these actors were. ’cause they’re mostly stage actors and I thought all of them knocked it outta the park.

The Marty kid did an excellent job. The guy who played Doc was really good. He’s not the original guy because obviously this is a touring show and they have different people playing different roles. But all in all. Just an absolutely wildly entertaining show. And look, maybe I like it more than the average person because I’ve seen the movie so much and I’m very familiar with the story.

If you’re not as much of a back to the Future geek as I am, maybe you wouldn’t like it as much. Or maybe you’d just be like, yeah, it was a good time, me. Obviously I didn’t really think they could do anything wrong unless it totally strayed from the movie and they just created their own back to the future, which I knew that wasn’t the case, but you never know going in, but I absolutely loved it.

If it comes to your town and you’re a fan of Back to the Future, I would suggest going to see it because it’s really good. And finally, this was interesting because of what happened on Survivor last week with Joe and Eva. I did a little mini dive. I’ve never been, especially on Survivor, I’ve never really dove into people’s Instagram accounts or much of their backstory or Hey, where were they?

Where are they from? I’ve just never done it. I just watched the show. Maybe some people in the past. I’ve looked at their Instagram page and maybe I’ve started following them, but it’s very few and far between. But I was interested in Joe ’cause he kept popping up on my for you page on Instagram and some of my tweets he would pop up on.

And so I decided to go to his Instagram page and I saw that his. Instagram handle was Joe Hunter, UCLA. It’s okay, guy went to UCLA and you scroll down a little bit further and you just start reading things and that he played football at UCLA. It was like, oh, football player at UCLA. All right.

And then I see that Joe Hunter is 45 years old, which is, four years younger than me, but I covered UCLA football. In the year 2000, and I realized that Joe Hunter was on the UCLA football team that I covered, meaning I used to go out to practices and get sound to bring back to the radio station so we could play sound bites from the players after practice leading up to the game that week.

And. I didn’t really know that. That’s what I said. I have an indirect connection now. I’m not gonna sit here and say I remember interviewing Joe Hunter because I don’t, he was a cornerback. I don’t know even know how much he played. Looking at his stats when I Googled him, he definitely got into games in 99 and 2000.

I know I went out to a few practices in 2000. 2001 was when I covered them the most, and that was for the first six games of the season and they were six and oh and ranked got as high as ranked fourth in the nation. And then I was summarily dismissed because the play-by-play guy, for whatever reason, didn’t like me.

But then they hired me on to do basketball and I had to work with the play-by-play guy and he didn’t seem to have a problem with me then. Neither here nor there. But I thought it was interesting ’cause I’ve always, when the, when they let me go from covering the football team in 2000 or 2000 and one, I.

It was just funny because they were ranked fourth in the nation at the time, in six and oh, and then they lost four in a row, and I was just like, huh, karma. That’s what you get for firing me. But yeah I didn’t know, I didn’t know any of this about Joe and when I looked it up I was like, oh, wow. He was on the team that I covered for a couple years, but do I remember him?

The name sounds familiar, like Joe Hunter, defensive player, but this was, this was the year 2000. This was 25 years ago. So I can’t say he stuck out. I can’t say. I remember when we would get to watch the last 15 minutes of practice before the guys came off the field and then we would get to talk to them.

I can’t remember anybody really probably ever interviewing him. I know I didn’t, but I just thought it was interesting that I have a connection to Joe Hunter and all the more reason why I want him to win. But my gosh, as I’ve said for the last couple podcasts at the end of last week, I just don’t see if you’re a contestant on Survivor this season.

I know it’s already been filmed and shit. Maybe he did win. Maybe he did does get to the final three. I have no idea. I haven’t read any spoilers, but you can’t have that guy sitting there at the final trial because who wouldn’t vote for that guy? And Eva? And Mitch for that matter, like I don’t know how the rest of this is gonna play out.

We got plenty of episodes still left, but holy shit, you don’t wanna be sitting next to Joe at the final tribal. I do know that. Anyway. Thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcasts. Also, rate and review, but you gotta hit play. It’s the only way it counts as a download.

Sports Daily coming up in an hour from now. Our Final four is set for the first time since 2008. All four number one seeds have reached the Final Four, and that’s the only other time it has happened in college basketball history since it went to a 60 14 field in 1985. Thank you all for listening. Really appreciate it and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
