So I haven’t brought up the Pat McAfee story When it happened, and this happened a while back, back in February, so a couple months ago, college football season was had just kind of wrapped up for the most part and. A student at the University of Oh Ole Miss University, her name’s Mary Kate Cornett.
She is now accusing Pat McAfee of spreading a rumor about her on his ESPN talk show. And the rumor was that she, this girl Mary Kate Cornett, who has a boyfriend at Ole Miss, slept with her boyfriend’s father, and Pat McAfee ran with it. This ended up being an internet hoax. This was not true. A lot of other people ran with it immediately.
I saw it all over the internet and I was texting friends about it, like, holy shit, did you see this? But I would never publicly talk about it ’cause I was like, I have no idea if it’s true, but this is what’s going on. She came out called the Rumors false, but it didn’t matter once it was out there. And she’s an Ole Miss student.
She’s attractive blonde. They found the boyfriend, they found the dad. They put pictures of them together. They were making a bunch of memes. She cd her a bunch of horrible messages and social media, of course, ’cause this is what the internet does. She’s had to be moved out of her dorm and moved to emergency housing and now she’s been switched to online courses.
The girl can’t even go to class anymore. Because somebody decided to put out a rumor on the internet. Pat McAfee unfortunately did zero vetting and ran with it himself as well. He wasn’t the original perpetrator of this, but because he has such a big voice in the sporting world, he ran with it and has made it worse, and she’s just coming out and saying in an article, Hey, I want people to be held accountable for what they do.
Ruining his life by talking about it on the show for nothing but attention. But here I am, staying up till five in the morning every night, throwing up and not eating because I’m so anxious about what’s gonna happen for the rest of my life. So the rumors started on social media platform, Yik Yak, and it just got out there.
People put together a fake story that she had hooked up with her ex-boyfriend or with her boyfriend’s dad. She was still in a relationship at the time. It became a trending topic on Twitter. Then McAfee brought it up during a February episode of his show when he had Adam Shefter on who was talking about the draft, and he was talking about Jackson Dart of Ole Miss, and then that gave.
McAfee the go ahead. Once he heard the words, ole miss his ears pop up and perk up, and they’re like, I’ll tell you, grief life is getting called into question. We’re learning a lot about the Kappa Delta sorority. Some frat bro has a KD girlfriend, allegedly at this exact moment. This is what’s being reported by everybody on the internet.
The dad has sex with his son’s girlfriend and it was made public, so that’s what he did. And then like we said, she has had her life turned upside down. It was reported by other places. Antonio Brown reported it. Barstool Sports reported it and just threw it out there. They obviously had no idea if it was true or not.
They just ran with it because they wanted to be part of the cool, excuse me, part of the cool kids. So then her identity got out. She received messages at her dorm room and campus security told her she was a target. Her phone number was leaked online, which led to a bunch of voicemails with unsolicited messages.
You can only imagine what those things were saying. She also received obscene text messages that reportedly called her a whore and a slut. So obviously. She took to the rumors, shot them all down. Never did that with her boyfriend’s dad, and now she’s engaged in legal representation. Is planning on taking action against McAfee?
Look, you know, I’m a big WWE fan. You know, I’m a big sports fan. You know, I love college game day. I don’t think I’ve ever given my opinion on Pat McAfee. And my opinion is I’m actually neutral on the guy. Like he is very polarizing. For people that don’t know, he’s very polarizing. Right now in the sports talk radio world, either the bros, the college bros are right up, his a like college bros love him.
The older crowd can do without him and maybe ’cause I’m 50 or almost 50, maybe that’s why I can almost do without him. Or I tell you like I’m just indifferent. Like there are times. I honestly, there are times where I like him and there are times where I don’t. This obviously is something that’s disgusting and if he does get in trouble for this and get has legal action taken against him and he has to pay a fine, he deserves it.
’cause this is wrong. But I can separate when he’s on WWE E and sometimes I like him on wwe. Sometimes I’m thinking he’s a little bit too over the top College game day, same thing. His radio show, same thing. It’s just maybe he’s just not for me. I don’t wanna be old guy on the lawn saying Get off the lawn.
But it’s not that I hate him, just like very indifferent. I know he’s very polarized. People either love him or hate him. I’m actually kind of in the middle, ’cause sometimes I do actually think what he’s saying is kind of funny. When he is talking sports, when he is in the wrestling commentary. Yeah.
Sometimes I think it’s funny when he is broadcasting on Netflix for RAW and some of the things he says on college game day, I find funny when he fires up the crowd when he is doing the, you know, kick a field goal for a hundred thousand dollars contest. He’s got some good one-liners and then sometimes I’m just like, okay, he’s just too much for me.
But in this case, he’s dead wrong. He never should have run with that. I was so shocked so many people were running with it. ’cause every time I saw it pop up, I’m like, but where is the proof of this? There was no proof ever. It was just like, oh yeah, some girl Ole Miss slept with her boyfriend’s dad. And then they kept passing the picture around once she was identified and very attractive girl.
And I’m just like, oh my gosh, this girl’s life’s over. Even if she, I, you know, and at the time I was like, I have no idea idea if she did it. I have no idea if the story’s true or not, but whether she did or didn’t, it’s now out there that she did. And that’s what most people are gonna believe and run with, especially when places like the Pat McAfee show and Barstool decided to run with it.
Of course, people, especially the male 18, do 36 crowd absolutely ate this story up and the amount of memes with her, it was completely out of hand. Then we find out it’s not even true. So yeah, I think he should get in trouble for this. I don’t know what the penalty will be, if it’s a fine or what, but he was in the wrong, and I wish he would actually come out and say something about it.
Maybe he has, if he has, I’ve missed it. I haven’t heard any sort of apology about this, but he was 1000% in the wrong here and this girl’s life. The fact that she has to go to online courses now and had to be taken outta school and moved to emergency housing. You think that’s fair, as Laia would say. Come on now.
And finally, as I mentioned in the open, I have not watched one episode of the floor this season just because, as I’ve said this thing really. Kills my brain cells because these categories are just so, Hey, name these things you see at a picnic, and it’s like table tablecloth basket, like what are we doing?
If your adult game show could be played by fifth graders, maybe it’s not a great game show. Anyway, my question for anybody that’s been watching the floor all season. I’m very well aware that Kenny and Mari from the Bachelor Nation who got engaged on Bachelor in Paradise a few seasons ago, and I pretty sure have been married since, right?
Yeah. They’re married now. Kenny and Mari I know are on this season of the floor one. Are both of them still on the show or two? If one of them isn’t on the show anymore and got eliminated, please tell me They had to face off against each other like. On that show, you have to choose who you’re gonna do your battle with.
I would think if they’re gonna cast a husband and wife duo, they want those two to challenge the other one at some point. So are Kenny and Mari still on the show? And if not, did one of them eliminate the other one in a head-to-head competition? Over, Hey, name these type of candy bars or something stupid like that.
You’ve all seen the floor, right? I just can’t, I remember watching the whole first season thinking it was gonna get better and I was just like, it’s just the same thing every time. Just a different category. And two people looking at pictures of candy bars, cereals. Presidents of the United States faces states famous US landmarks, and it’s like a picture of the Empire State Building and it’s just like, whatever. Or Kenny and Mari still on the show, or did one of ’em eliminate and, and if one of ’em got eliminated and didn’t even get to face the other one.
