Daily Roundup 4/18 – Thoughts on the Ashley Interview Yesterday, Clayton Goes on Almost Famous, Gabby Posts a Tone Deaf IG Story, Survivor’s Pole Challenge, David Gingras Out of Touch Again, & TV Award Show Hosting News

A little bit more on Survivor from Wednesday night. I read Chrissy’s exit interview with Dalton Ross and she said there was actually a lot of stuff left out of a final tribal. She pretty much knew she was going home because none of these strong lines would even speak to her beforehand, and usually that’s never a good sign, and it wasn’t because she basically got unanimously voted out outside of her vote.

Everyone else voted for her, but she said there was actually a time where David started yelling at her at that tribal council, but it wasn’t shown. And I think David was a fan favorite and somebody that I think the audience saw as someone who could really win this thing in the end. But after yesterday’s or Wednesday’s episode.

I’m thinking that a lot of people have changed their mind on David. ’cause the discourse that I saw online was, whoa, what happened to this guy? We were all cheering for him. But he doesn’t seem to be too bright. And I think now we can cross David off as a winner because I don’t see it either. I think that, as I said yesterday, I think the strong alliance is gonna start eating themselves at some point, because clearly they’re not all on the same page.

David, somehow. Kyle convinced David and Joe convinced David, yeah, let’s go after Chrissy, because David and Mary were hell bent on Camilla and David wasn’t budging. And then all of a sudden going into tribal, we were just like, well, what are they gonna do? And then every one of them ended up voting for Christie.

So that seemed to work for them. But I think David probably doesn’t have a chance to win anymore this season. The other thing that I wanted to talk about was something I mentioned yesterday and I was so off on my math talking about that pole challenge. Remember I said, look, it favors people with smaller feet.

Back in the day, the ridges used to be so much deeper. I. And I was like, what are they, what were they back in the day? Eight to 10 inches. And then I’m like, wait a second, eight to 10 inches of ridges is impossible. They, you would literally be able to put your whole foot on the thing. So if I had to guess, the ridges in back in the day were maybe an inch and a half, two inches wide, and now they’re probably a half an inch to an inch wide.

Right? Am I, am I, am I way off on that? I’m just thinking of. How far the ridge comes out. It can’t be more than an inch or an inch and a half. God, 18 inches even seems like it might be too much. But I keep seeing that clip of parity on that pole for an hour and a half back on one of her seasons and she was just standing there.

’cause it was so easy back then because the ridge, as long as you had small feet, gave you plenty of room to set the outside of your foot. On that ridge, and that’s what she did. She was literally standing up on the top ridge of the pole with her other foot just dangling in the air, but one of them on the ridge, and she was an hour and a half in and didn’t even look like she had broken a sweat.

And then. Jeff probes yesterday on ew.com basically said, yeah, we have changed that because it became a little bit too easy. And the ridges you see on that thing are probably gonna be what they are going forward. Just we’re not gonna go back to the old ridges we, when we created it. We realized that people were staying up there two, three hours and they said, is that what we really want?

Do we really want someone to stand up in a challenge or be in a challenge for two and a half to three hours? Yeah, test your endurance, but we want more of a finality. We, and so we basically decided to make the Ridges way thinner and with the widget, with the ridges being way thinner, that’s what they were able to do.

And. They didn’t even put the minutes up on Wednesday night’s episode. So my guess is Eva won that thing in probably less than 20 minutes if I had to guess. I talked about David Jing. Yesterday and what he had said to me in an email calling Rachel Juarez batshit, I thought that was uncalled for. And I told him that when I expressed and responded to his email and I had ex expressed disgust, I said, that was not necessary.

Whatever the case may be, I have not heard from him since, but. I was reading some of the replies and he did reply to a couple people online the other day and someone basically told David, filing this reconsideration all it’s doing is making things worse for your client. Like maybe this isn’t in the best interest of Laura to continue this case.

And David responded with this. I understand this argument, but what are the choices? Laura have concede to a judgment she feels is 100% wrong. It’s like, okay, I get it. She doesn’t feel that she is wrong in anything that she’s done. We all know that she is, and we all know that her behavior in past cases, it’s just she doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt, but in her own brain, she doesn’t think that she’s wrong.

So she wants to keep fighting it. Fine. I’ll give her that. But then David Jinger in the very next sentence says, her case is very similar to Kmar Abrego Garcia. We all know who that is. That case is really about due process and the rule of the law, not whether you like Kmar, Abrego Garcia as a person. Same here.

And this someone else immediately shot back at him saying, Lord got due process. Garcia did not. Her case was litigated with Judge Mata and then again by the Court of Appeals. They both issued rulings. Just because you don’t agree with their rulings, doesn’t negate the fact that she received due process.

He says stuff like this, and you’re just scratching your head like, what is going on in your brain? You don’t think Laura has received due process? And what that person said is exactly right. Because she has lost on everything. That’s why he doesn’t feel she has received due process. But she literally got a trial.

She literally had a court of appeals spend what? 200 days reading over the documents and then deciding, no, we don’t agree. You lose the appeal. She has gotten her time in court. She has gotten her time with three appellate court judges. By the way, I wanna point out when the. When Jenkins was filing and talking about the appeal that he said there was no way in hell Clayton was gonna win.

One of his reasonings was that, oh, well the appeals courts is in Tucson, not in Scottsdale, where Judge Matta, who clearly was a fan of The Bachelor and Clayton and one to oppress her dad, now we don’t have to deal with judges that are gonna be biased. It’s in Tucson. It’s by three people. We finally get a fair shake.

And then all three judges come down on him, deny the appeal, don’t even give him oral arguments. And now all three app appeal, appellate judges are wrong and they don’t know the law. You see what we’re dealing with here, but holy shit, David, come on man. Did you honestly, did you actually compare Laura Owens to kill Mara Rego Garcia?

Did you really do that? Well, the answer is yes ’cause it’s right there on Twitter. But holy shit, what a reach. And finally, on a happier note, it was announced yesterday that the Emmys this year are gonna be hosted by Nate Bari. And if you didn’t know, I think a couple weeks ago, maybe a month ago, Nikki Glaser was asked backed to be host of the Golden Globes for a second year in a row.

These are two very good hires. Nikki killed it at the Golden Globes this year. Nate Bartzi has never hosted an award show as far as I know, but his standup is excellent. His appearances on Saturday Night Live, couple of his sketches have gone viral. I think he’s the perfect host for the Emmys. And again, just like music, when I talk about American Idol.

Same thing with comedy. Comedy is very subjective. You might think Nate Bartzi is boring. You might not like the fact that he’s a clean comic. He doesn’t curse, he doesn’t talk about sex or anything like that. But for me, one of the best standups out there, if he’s top five right now and he is, his delivery to me is absolutely flawless, and I get it.

Some people probably think his delivery sucks. And they think he is so boring and he puts them to sleep. I get it. But for me, this was a no brainer. Great hire by the Emmys to get Nate Bartzi to host and great hire by the Golden Globes to re-up Nikki Glaser for a second year in a row. The one thing I’m waiting to hear is if we’re gonna get another roast on Netflix.

Last year we got the Tom Brady Roast where. It was a free for all, and there was some ruthless, ruthless jokes and ruthless roasts being told during the Tom Brady roast. Netflix hasn’t said if they’re doing another one and they haven’t said if they are who it’s gonna be, if they’re gonna do an athlete or a musician or celebrity or whatever, but Right.

It was before, right before the football season started. I wanna say it was in late August and obviously football season starts. The first week is September, so maybe we will be getting an announcement soon. I don’t know, but I find that to be very, very, very interesting to, I really hope, I mean, it was, I mean you’ve probably seen the clips all over.

So many top comedians there doing roast. Nikki Glaser was probably the best roaster. It’s pretty much what got her the Golden Globes gig. If we’re being honest and. I’m curious to see if we’re gonna get another Netflix roast of somebody coming up, but I guess time will tell. Anyway, thank you all for listening.

I really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcast. Also rate interview, but you gotta hit play. It’s the only way it counts is to download Sports Daily coming up in an hour from now. So go check that out. I hope everybody has a great Easter weekend. If you don’t celebrate Easter, just have a great weekend and I will talk to you Monday.

See.
