Speaking of birthday parties last week, I had mentioned for my party at the end of this month that. I found out a couple weeks ago that the Kendrick Lamar concert was happening the same night at the same time, across the street from Mandalay Bay at Allegion Stadium, and I was told by Vegas local, Hey, this is not going to be pretty anybody trying to get to Mandalay Bay, it’s going to take forever to get there because that’s where every car is being dropped off for people that want to go, people that have tickets to the Kendrick Lamar concert because when you take ride shares or taxis.
On concert days or football days or anything happening at Allegiant Stadium, it doesn’t drop you at the stadium. It drops you at Mandalay Bay and you have to walk over the bridge over the 15 freeway to get to the stadium. That’s how it works there. Well, you know, like I said, come to find out Saturday night, May 31st, my party starts at seven, so does the Kendrick Lamar concert.
So anybody that’s not staying within walking distance of Vegas, of man of Vegas, of Mandalay Bay. Give yourself a good extra hour to get over there. And I’m not kidding. So last week I ended up finalizing everything with House of Blues. We’re all set to go. The menu has been finalized, all the. Things that I’m being charged for has been finalized.
But when I was talking to them, it was the first time I had brought up, Hey, I’m sure you’re well aware. Kendrick Lamar is playing at Allegiant same night as my party. What do you suggest? And I just assumed that my contact at House of Blues was not gonna say it wasn’t a big deal, but would probably downplay it.
Like, yeah, it’ll be crowded, but you know, just. Be careful or tell your, you know, tell your guests to get here early, or whatever the case may be. I’m telling you, even the House of Blues contact didn’t pull any punches. She was just like, whatever you think it’s going to be, it’s going to be worse. She goes, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it at all.
It’s going to be a nightmare. So again. I have told everybody coming to the party on the email list about this, but I will repeat myself if you are not staying within walking distance of Mandalay Bay, which to me would be Mandalay staying at Mandalay Bay or Luxor. Or Excalibur, New York, New York, or MGM Grand.
I’d say those are the only walking distance ones, especially on, you know, you can walk anywhere on the strip, but coming to that party in your eighties costume at the end of May, when it’s probably gonna be high nineties, low hundreds. You probably don’t do or wanna do a lot of walking. All I’m saying is if you are taking a ride share there, I would just tell you now, don’t even take the ride share and tell them to drop you off at Mandalay, because as they get close to Mandalay, you’re just gonna be sitting in your ride share because there’s gonna be so many cars lined up and so many cars trying to get to Mandalay to drop people off.
If I were you. And you are staying not within walking distance, and this would mean more for the Vegas locals. I mean, obviously if you’re staying somewhere else on the strip, you would need to listen to this. But Vegas locals, I’m sure you’re very well aware. I wouldn’t drive in and try and park at Mandalay.
They’re probably gonna charge you a hundred bucks to park that night. At Mandalay, I would take a ride share and I would just drop it off as close to Mandalay as you can. Maybe drop yourself off at New York, New York. Walk over the bridge from New York to York to Excalibur and take the free tram that goes back and forth from Excalibur to Luxor to Mandalay, and then Mandalay.
Luxor Excalibur. But. For whatever you do. I’m telling everybody to come to my party and be there by 6 45. I would like to start the show no later than seven 30, but if seven 30 rolls around and only a hundred people are checked off the 200 person guest list, I’m not gonna start the show. I want you all there.
So please, please, please give yourself so much time. Hell plan to be there at six o’clock. And if you’re there early, great, just walk around. I mean, it’s a casino. Walk around the casino shop, do whatever. But be there as early as you can. For a 6 45 entrance, the door’s gonna open between 6 45 and seven.
If you have to wait outside of House of Blues during that time, by all means do that and just stand in line. We’ll get people checked off the list quicker ’cause it’s gonna take a while to get 200 people checked off the list and given raffle tickets. So when the House of Blues is telling me, yeah, it’s worse than you think.
And it’s going to be a madhouse that night. By all means, I’m just relaying the information to anybody coming to the party that you’ve heard this in the email. I’m gonna keep repeating it. Please be there if you, basically what I’m saying is I’m telling people to be there. Door’s gonna open by 6 45. If you’re living in Vegas, or you’re living on the strip, or you’re staying on the strip.
You are not walking distance from the hotel and you’re like, okay, I’m gonna time this perfect to be there at 6 45. I’m telling you, there’s no way you’re gonna get there at 6 45 based on all the congestion that’s going to be surrounding Mandalay Bay that night. I. If you know anything about Las Vegas, Mandalay Bay is the farthest south hotel on the strip.
So, you could take the monorail, which is about a $15 round trip ticket. The monorail goes from a lot of the hotels. There’s stops along the hotel. Just Google Las Vegas monorail. You can buy a ticket that takes you all the way to MGM Grand. You can walk from MGM Grand. Over the bridge. You walk over the bridge to New York, New York, and then take that bridge, walk over that bridge from New York, New York to Excalibur, and then the tram from Excalibur to Mandalay is free.
Now there might be a shit ton of people on that tram. It just, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s just unfortunate that Kendrick Lamar decided to throw a concert on the night on my party. So anyway, speaking of well, this doesn’t have to do with my party, but do you know what this month is? Anybody Well, well aware of what this month is.
It’s one of my favorites. It’s palindrome month. That’s right. We are in a month where there are 11 dates in the month of May, where if you read the date, you can read it forwards and backwards and it will be the same date. This also happened in. April of last year. It also happened in March of 2023. It also happened in February of 2022, and it happened in January of 2021.
Right? Certain dates. But yeah, we’ll have 11 palindrome dates in the month of May. We’ve already had one five on May 2nd ’cause that’s 5 2 25. You read that backwards. 5 2 25 I, I might be the only one that even cares about this shit and is nerding out over it, but please let me do it. But basically starting May 20th for 10 consecutive days, May 20th through May 29th.
The date written out 5 20 25 backwards is also 5 20 25. So this only happens one month outta the year, and for 2025 it’s the month of May. So how about that? I’m guessing. Probably three of you even care what I just said, but I thought it was cool that it’s a pal and drum month this month. Anyway, thank you all for listening.
