Daily Roundup 7/16 – BIP Ep #3, Justin & Lexi Go At Each Other on Instagram, Jeremy’s Bad Night, Hannah Brown is a Ghost, Why I Can’t Ever Rock with Sean, & the Brand Deal Tie-In That You Know I Loved

You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality. Steve Podcast, I’m your host reality. Steve, thank you all for tuning in on this Wednesday. Another good show to go over everything that happened last night on Bachelor in Paradise. Usually our Wednesday recap is the first half is at least spent on the Valley.

I think today’s podcast and I record this open, like live. I don’t go back and record it after I order record the meat of the podcast. I, I think this whole podcast again is gonna be Patrick in Paradise because there was so much that happened last night that I wanna talk about. The Justin versus Lexi stuff.

Jeremy calling Susie the April and Kat room conversation. That reminded me of a movie. Jeremy again, his actions. Jonathan’s actions, why I now officially hate Sean. The, the movie tie in so much last night. We’ll get to all that momentarily. Alright, let’s start off with this take from me in regards to now three completed episodes of Bachelor in Paradise.

I’ve seen some things online, not everybody’s opinion, and obviously nothing in this world is universally hated or universally liked. You’ll always find some supporters or some haters about something. I’m telling you right now through three episodes, I’m actually enjoying this show. I, I like how it looks visually, you know that, but I do like what we’ve seen.

Yes, it’s drama that we’ve seen in previous seasons, but I don’t know. I, I’m just, I, I think I’m just enjoying it more. I know I found myself being bored the last few seasons of paradise and. While we’re getting some of the same drama we’ve seen in past seasons, I’ve just really enjoyed these three episodes and I didn’t think I would really care much either way.

I just feel, felt like I’d be like, okay, pretty much what we expect in Paradise looks different. But I dunno, I’m just enjoying it more and I can’t even pinpoint as to why. So before last night’s episode even started. We had this drama on social media yesterday between Justin and Lexi, and basically people commenting on social media yesterday in regards to Justin and Lexi, and essentially saying, Hey Justin, you’re such an idiot for not giving Lexi a rose.

Why’d you give it to Susie? And basically Justin had two comments about this on Instagram and Lexi followed up with two comments as well. I, I’m gonna read through this, I’m gonna get to the meat and potatoes of it, but basically Justin said he didn’t want, he had no intention of leading anyone on. He was very intentional with who he pursued, but unfortunately, the same interest was not reciprocated for days.

I was then informed this person didn’t have interest in dating someone that didn’t live where they lived, was unsure if we wanted the same things out of life, et cetera. This part of the conversation wasn’t shown as well as telling me to pursue other women as she wanted to pursue other men prior to ending things with me.

The conversation before the rose ceremony was the first time I received any sense of interest from her, and I found it concerning that of all the reservations. I think he meant conversations from less than 24 hours ago we’re no longer there minutes before we were lined up for the rose ceremony. I chose to self-sacrifice for someone I deeply care about rather than take the chance of continuing to pursue someone who I didn’t feel was genuinely interested in me.

Hope you can try to understand it was a difficult situation to navigate for all parties involved. Well, Lexi didn’t take that well at all and she shot back with. What you’re saying is simply not true, and you know it. As someone who claims to value communication, I suggest you reflect on how you show up in that space because this narrative isn’t it.

I won’t let you twist my words or rewrite my truth. We both know the reality of what happened. I generally hope to take the time you hope to you take the time to grow and heal so you don’t repeat this kind of behavior with someone else wishing you clarity and accountability on that path. Please don’t share my story or use my words that are simply not true.

Oh boy. Well. You knew Justin was gonna respond to that, and he responded with specifics. He said, luckily, cameras were present for the conversation. You’re in LA growing your business, and I’m in Atlanta growing mine, and I have no plans of leaving Atlanta as well as, I’m not sure we even want the same things out of life.

Weren’t a part of the reservations you communicated to me. Oh, so you’re saying the reservations about them seeing each other. Got it. To which I responded, Hey, I would love to talk to you about these things, but you haven’t given me a chance to, to which you apologized for projecting on me. None of that happened.

I absolutely value communication. I’ve tried to reach out to you twice post show in an effort to communicate, in which I’ve received zero response from you. Nonetheless, still apologize for what transpired and wish you the best. Then Lexi shot back. You’re now using the points I raised about us having a relationship to justify not pulling me aside before the rose ceremony and sharing your concerns.

I’m fully aware of what was filmed and what has happened off camera in la. People talk. I asked you directly to come to me if anything changed and you chose not to. That lack of respect speaks volumes. I didn’t reach out after the show because frankly there was nothing left to say. I’m moving on with my life, wishing you clarity and healing.

Okay, it looks like these two are getting nowhere. I’m still confused. I mean, Justin laid it out there. If she said, you’re growing your business in LA and I’m growing mine in Atlanta and I have no plans of leading Atlanta, and I’m not sure we even want the same things out of life. If somebody said that to me, I don’t know.

I wouldn’t be too jazzed about continuing to pursue them either. So is she saying that conversation never even happened? ’cause he’s saying it did. I mean, it’s a, he said, she said at this point, I don’t know who to believe, but then Lexi shot back saying Those points that you’re using are the reasons you’re now saying that’s why you didn’t approach me and pull me aside before the rose ceremony.

Sharing your concerns again, I, I, I, I don’t know. I’m so confused. I’m throwing my hands up on this one, but if you didn’t see that on social media yesterday, that pretty much dominated the conversation. So there was a scene early on when the goldens arrived, where April and Kat were talking, and April has said basically, I, I guess like I haven’t been with anybody and I don’t know how to kiss someone.

And I mean, not that I thought it was gonna happen and I wasn’t like, oh, Kat in April make out like I wasn’t thinking that. But that scene almost set up kind of, you know, which movie I’m talking about? Cruel Intentions with Sarah Michelle Geller and Selma Blair in that scene because Sarah Michelle Keller was teaching Selma Blair how to kiss and they end up making out.

It was Michel, it was Sarah Michelle Keller that did that. Right. Yeah, no. Yeah. Was sitting on Michelle Galler. Yeah. ’cause it wasn’t Reese Witherspoon. So that’s, that’s immediately, like again, I wasn’t sitting here going, oh, come on, make out you two. No, I wasn’t thinking that. I was thinking of the scene of, it just seemed like when she said that you were like, what is she asking her to teach her how to kiss?

’cause she basically said, I don’t know how to kiss someone and. It just brought my thought to cruel intentions, but I mean, we can talk about Jeremy real quick here. I don’t, I mean, look, the end result is if you follow anything on social media, Jeremy and Bailey are together right now. They’re still together, so clearly everything that we’re seeing right now, which happened back in May, they’re over.

So. If you’re going to say, oh my God, Jeremy is such a moron, then you’re basically insulting Bailey. ’cause Bailey has moved on from it and she’s still with him. So I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe there’s more to the story that we’re gonna find out. We’re clearly at some point, Bailey has gotten over it.

Now at the point we’re at now, as we as viewers are watching. Bailey does not know that Jeremy called Susie asking her to come back, and Susie said, no, Bailey doesn’t know this. Nobody’s told her yet. I don’t know. I put it this way. She’s going to find out. I don’t know if Jeremy is the one that ends up telling her or somebody else opens up to her and tells her.

’cause right after Jeremy made that call, he went downstairs and told Alex. So my guess is either Alex ends up telling Bailey because they’re friends and she feels like she should know, or Jeremy has to come out about it because maybe the guilt is on his mind. But when that happens, I’m sure that’s the scene that we saw in the season trailer of Bailey crying to him and saying is, is that who you want?

Or something along those lines. Do you really want her? Do you really like her? But again. They’re together now. So whatever happened during the show, it’s over and done with Bailey’s gotten over it. Jeremy isn’t in the doghouse for doing that, but did Jeremy get a good edit last night? No, he didn’t really.

It was not a good look for him last night at all. I mean, literally saying, I want Susie back now. When Bailey went on the date with Andrew and he basically made it seem like, it seemed like a double standard he was playing on Bailey, you know. I, I don’t understand people on this show. You know what the show is?

Somebody that you are coupled up with might say yes to going on a date with somebody. It doesn’t mean that they don’t like you anymore, but Jeremy and Bailey, while they have been hooking up, they haven’t even been on a date yet. They haven’t gotten a one-on-one. She might be into him and she told him, look, I’m into you, but Susie took you on a date.

I’m fine with it. But then Andrew goes on a date with Bailey and Jeremy gets all bent outta shape, like it just looks horrible. The optics of it look terrible. And then him, then him turning around saying, well, basically saying, well, I wouldn’t have given my rose to Bailey if I thought that she was interested in somebody else.

I would’ve given it to Susie. And then he goes back to his room and calls Susie and tries to get her back. I mean, look, even though we don’t know the answer and to why, I mean we, we know the answer right now is that they’re still together, but doesn’t mean I can’t question Bailey and just be like, Bailey, what?

We’re gonna get our answer on the show because she’s going to find out. Then Jeremy’s just, I guess, gotta throw the, the charm on and throw it on real thick and just say, no, I, I wanna be with you. And clearly they are. But that’s kind of a tough, I mean, you went on one date with a guy on a show where you’re supposed to open yourself up and possibly date multiple people, and he got all bent outta shape and went and called somebody else.

Like, I can’t tell Bailey what to do with her life, but. I’d kind of question him at this point, right? That’s just me. This podcast is brought to you by Factor. By the way. Finishing back up on the whole Jeremy thing. I thought that was one of the best chirons of the night after Jeremy got off the phone with Susie and she had just said, look, I’m not coming back.

I’m at the airport about to board a plane. I, I, I can’t do that. Had a great time with you, but I’m not coming back. He said, Hey, man, shoot or shoot, and then the Chiron right next to him said, Jeremy has terrible aim. That’s good. That’s funny. The, the, the problem I have with the Chiron is I feel it’s like not up on the screen long enough.

You really have to pay attention to it. And there were some good ones last night for sure. I didn’t write all of them down. That one I saw and I was like, I wanna write that one down. ’cause that was probably the best one that I did see of the night. Alright, let’s talk about this. What the hell did they cast Hannah Brown for?

Not only does Hannah Brown never get any confessionals, I don’t think she’s had a confessional all season Wells has had, I don’t know, eight to 10. Was Hannah Brown in the episode last night? Was look and maybe behind the scenes, maybe she was sick that day. It’s very possible, and that’s why she wasn’t on the episode.

But what are you doing bringing Hannah Brown to that island? We’re through three episodes and she has absolutely no importance to this show whatsoever. Not like Wells’ job is important, but at least Wells is doing the wells thing that we expect. Talking to the people at the bar, making them drinks, getting confessionals, giving us his opinions.

Okay? That’s what Wells does. You brought in Hannah Brown and three episodes in, she’s never had a confessional. One episode she doesn’t even appear. What was the point? I know you’re trying to capitalize on our popularity, but fuck user on the show for Christ’s sakes. It just doesn’t make any sense. What are they doing?

I said in the open, I officially hate Sean, and let me just say, I’m being facetious when I say that. I don’t hate Sean at all, but I said that for this one reason and one reason only, he was told by, I think it was a producer during a confessional, actually, I think you look like Jason Priestley. Sean McLaughlin.

McLaughlin had the nerve to say, who is Jason Priestly? So yeah, not a fan of Sean. Right now you don’t know who Jason Priestly is. Brandon Walsh, 9 0 2 1 oh. What of the greatest high school slash college shows of our generation? Obviously I’m biased towards nine oh to two one oh. You know how I feel about that show, how much I love it, how much I rewatch it.

I understand that Sean is significantly younger than me. He probably wasn’t born until the what, the late nineties? Sean’s in his late twenties, so yeah, he’s probably born in ninety six, ninety seven. So like literally when he was born, nine oh two one oh seasons were like the end of their college years.

Okay, I get it. How in the years that he’s been on this earth, does he not know who Jason Priestly is? They never heard about it. Oh, how can I support a man who doesn’t know who Jason Priestly is? Come on, man. Brandon Walsh. You know, 9 0 2 1 oh. Got to make out with probably 50 different women during his nine.

Eight and a half seasons on the show. Come on. I just, I’m stunned, absolutely stunned that this was a thing that there is somebody in their late twenties, Sean might be early thirties, I don’t know the exact age on Sean, but there’s somebody in their late twenties that doesn’t know who Jason Priestly is.

That’s like disturbing to me. It really, really bothers me. As you can tell, I’ve spent the last. Two minutes talking about it, and finally, you know, you knew I was gonna bring this up so I didn’t even know what the hell was going on with this whole dream sequence of Jesse and him going into the bathroom and written on the bathroom mirror.

The fog of the bathroom mirror says, I know what you did last summer.

At first I thought, well, this is just a promotion for the movie, which comes out tomorrow. And if you don’t think I bought tickets a week ago for it, that me and my nephew are gonna go see, then you don’t know me. Two o’clock showing tomorrow afternoon, Stonebriar Mall anyway, bought my tickets last week.

But when it, when they’re showing this, I’m like, wait, is this just a commercial? Have we come back to the show, like, how in the world is this going to be in court? Like, what the hell is happening here? And then we see Jesse has a dream. Wells is the guy in the slicker, he wakes up and then when he goes to get a drink from Wells, and Wells is cutting the ice with the hook.

Okay? But then Jesse just walks over to the group and explains the challenge or the competition, whatever you wanna call it. And during that, they throw in the tie in to and Oh yeah. In this challenge, you have to tell a secret. You have to write down a secret, but you don’t have to necessarily share. We’re gonna find out the one secret that everyone think is the darkest secret, and that person can choose to acknowledge that that’s their secret, or it isn’t.

Just like in the movie, I know what you did last summer, coming out on July 18th at a movie theater near you. It’s like, okay. It was a reach for the tie in. I get. Yes. The movie is about the high schoolers that have to keep a secret because they killed somebody the summer before. I get it, but it was kind of a bit of a reach.

So we find out that one of the, the, the most darkest secret. Voted on by everybody there. Somebody in the group says she slept with somebody by her partner, was in the other room, and it ended up being one of the goldens, Kathy. Now here’s what I’ve been asking for, for two episodes. At least make the challenges slash competition have some advantage to it, and Kathy got an advantage, which is you get to use the presidential suite and she invited Keith up for the night.

This is what they should be. There should be a reward, and maybe there’s a consequence coming up for other ones. If you finish last, if it’s a competition and it’s team competitions or whatever, and there’s a first place and a last place, there should be some reward. Maybe you don’t have to have a consequence, but maybe this means, hopefully this means through the rest of the season, every single.

Challenge slash competition does have a reward and that reward is a date card that makes it interesting. And one final thing I wanna say about the look and feel of this show. I guess I need to go back and watch the first nine seasons. I don’t remember this much music and not just music playing in the background, like instrumental stuff, songs that have been on this show with with words and.

I feel like we don’t get a lot of, I feel like there’s so much music being played and yes, it’s very similar to how Love Island is Shot and these other dating shows on the, on the streaming service. Love is blind, same thing. The amount of music playing in the background. I think it might come second nature to people, but I don’t believe this was ever the case in the previous Bachelor of Paradise Seasons in the Nine Seasons, they didn’t have songs.

Like someone in a confessional and we’re hearing a song, or it’s two people talking and we’re hearing a song playing in the background that has lyrics, not just noises or instrumental things going on in the background, like slow music, or if they’re trying to villainize somebody having some evil music or something like that.

We get that all the time, but this is just like upbeat, peppy music. But this is exactly the way something like Love Island is Shot slow, mos. Music upbeat lyrics. I, I, I’ve, I’m really enjoying this season so far. Is it the best show I’ve ever seen? Absolutely not, but I’m enjoying it. I really am just curious of what you guys think of it.

Anyway, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcast. Also, rate and review what you gotta hit play. It’s the only way it counts as a download. Sports Daily coming up in an hour from now. And by the way. Tomorrow we got a lot to talk about as well, because some news that we haven’t gotten to this week and also gonna spend probably the first half of tomorrow’s podcast talking about last night’s Valley episode since we didn’t get to it today.

Anyway, we’re back to one episode a week on Mondays. I think for the rest of the season, two hour episodes. Thank God we don’t have any more three hour episodes, so we’re back to normal starting next week for Bachelor Paradise. Anyway, thank you all for listening. Really appreciate it, and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
