Before I get to a couple other reality shows, I did wanna talk about Bebe Unlocked from Friday night. I mean, it’s a, it’s a talk show surrounding Big Brother, but it’s every other week. It’s gonna be every other Friday. Derek La Vasser and Taylor Hale hosted it.
It was fine. You know, it wasn’t earth shattering like, oh my gosh. This is the greatest BB recap show we’ve ever seen. It’s corny, it’s cheesy. It’s kind of like the show, but it’s got some information in there. They do show you some clips that we haven’t seen yet. If you haven’t been watching the live feeds, including what we saw on the episode last night, which was Rachel telling Ava she wants to go to the final two with her.
If you watch BB Unlock on Friday night, you already saw that clip. And they clip tease what was coming in the HOH, which was the Nolan Twins, which when I saw that Friday night, I’m like, I don’t know who these people are. And then I watched the episode last night and I’m like, yeah, okay. I don’t think I need to know who they are.
So a funny thing happened when I was scrolling through my DVR this past weekend. I realized that the challenge had started season 41 vets versus new threats and. Some of the new threats. I know from shows that I watch Blue from Big Brother and Dee who won Survivor and America from Big Brother. There’s a few other ones from there that I know, but they’ve pulled some Europeans.
Here’s the issue I’m having with the challenge. Season 41. And you could say, Steve, this is your own fault. And yes, I’ll take full responsibility, but I already know who won. And I’ve never gone into a challenge season. I’ve always tried to stay away from spoilers when it comes to the challenge always. And somehow I came across them this year, so I already know who won.
And you know how I’ve always said like, look, I don’t like to be spoiled in anything in my life. I don’t wanna know. I don’t wanna know who wins Survivor. If there isn’t is a spoiler site out there anymore, I don’t wanna know who wins the challenge. I don’t wanna know anything about any reality shows outside of Bachelor related programming and.
For the exact reason. Now that I know I’m just not nearly as invested in the season. I’ll watch it play out, but I don’t need to watch it on Wednesday night. I’m probably not gonna get to it until Saturday or Sunday, every weekend. I’m just, it was such a weird watch because again, you already know by knowing who wins.
Look, we haven’t had a battle yet. There hasn’t been any vote outs or who’s going into the arena or anything like that. But once that starts, since I know who wins, if one of those two, yes, there’s one woman and one man that wins this year, if one of those two happens to be voted into the arena, well, clearly I know that they’re not going home.
And you can just see things forming when you already know who wins. And on a show like Bachelor, bachelorette, the reason why I don’t care is because normally. This is just going to end in a broken engagement anyway. So I don’t think it’s a big deal that people know who the final person is and who the bachelor picks or who the bachelorette picks.
It’s just gonna end up in most likely, a broken engagement. Now, for the challenge, there’s something heavy at stake here, a lot of money. It’s a competition. I don’t wanna know who wins the competition before. It’s the reason that I don’t record sporting events, because I’ll already know who wins the game by the time I get around to watching it.
It just, why would I do that if I already know who won? I don’t need to go back and watch the game unless I was a scout or somebody who was doing dissection and giving you video breakdown of an NBA game or an NFL game. No, I don’t need to go back and watch. I already know who won. I can’t remember the last time I recorded a sporting event.
Actually, yes, I do. It’s still on my DVR, and that was Luca’s return to Dallas because I was at the game, but I wanted to see how they covered it on tv and I’ll probably keep that on my DVR for the longest time because watching the video of Luca. They played for him, the two and a half, three minute video that they played before they introduced him.
I just thought it was a really cool moment. And being a Luca fan, I just, I’ll always want to have that memory of him, even though I was there, I did not record it on my phone when I was there. So that’s the game that I recorded, but I don’t go back and watch it to see. Oh, I like the Lakers defensive rotations in the third quarter.
In this one, no, I’m literally only have it on my DVR just for the beginning of the game, and I’ve gone back and occasionally watched it just. Laying around on a weekend just, oh yeah, this is in my DVR. Let me watch that Luca intro again. You know, another show that I’m watching, reality show that I watched most of season one, but I did not watch all of it.
But now I am all caught up because they moved it to basic cable and it’s on Bravo and it’s not the NYC. Next gen show or whatever they’re calling that show that’s on after the Valley. I’m kind of digging the McBee Dynasty because it is so messy. I think I’ve talked about it in the past, like, look, I’ve interviewed Steven before when he was coming off Joe Millionaire, and it shows Cala, and obviously in the past being friends with Andy Jorgensen and with Amanda Pace, who.
Who’s the other guy? I’m already blanking on his name. The other guy that, I’m Joe Millionaire that chose Amanda, obviously they came to my party that year, so did the Butler, who was the host of that season. They came to my Vegas party. So I’ve heard things behind the scenes about a a, about Steven and about Cala and everything I heard about Steven and Cala behind the scenes is literally playing out on television.
So it’s not just rumor and gossip that Yeah, they break up all the time. Then just get back together. Steven said it on Monday’s, last Monday’s episode. Literally, he said, we’ve broken up 15 and 16 times. And that’s not hyperbole. That’s literally how many times we’ve broken up and we just get back together.
And I heard that two years ago. I mean, that’s just basic. They have a, they have a very toxic relationship. I don’t quite understand it. I don’t know why you would constantly wanna be with somebody that is that toxic. That’s someone that you constantly fight with. I haven’t watched last night’s episode yet, but seeing the previews for it after last week’s episode, I know once again Stephen and Cala get in a fight and she leaves again.
I, I don’t understand it, but outside of the Stephen and Cala stuff, and I, as I’ve said, I don’t know shit about farming. I don’t know anything about that industry or anything like that, but it’s entertaining to watch and this whole thing with Steven’s dad who isn’t even on this season because. He’s looking like going to prison for insurance fraud.
I think he’s waiting for his sentencing. He’s getting between zero and 30 years of prison time, which I think obviously will become a bigger storyline as the season goes on. Last week’s episode was the first one that mentioned it, that his dad was in trouble with the law, but how about their assistant Galena and Steven sr’s girlfriend was her name, Masha.
I mean these two’s, confrontation and Gina. Constantly. I mean, how many times Galena, we get it. You don’t like her and Steven did you wrong? I’m not saying Galena wasn’t done wrong by Steven. She absolutely was, but at some point she’s gotta get over it because it’s just the same thing over and over. She calls her former friend a whore that, that whore, ’cause she’s got the Russian accent.
How many times has she said that this season it’s, I mean, it just even last season when Steven had a different girlfriend who showed up in last Monday’s episode, just but their tension and last week’s episode where Steven said, you know what? We have to have them in the same room and they need to hash things out because Galena’s behavior is affecting our business, and it got absolutely nothing accomplished.
So Galena and Masha fighting. Good tv, but yeah, I, I enjoy the show really. Do I? I liked season one. I kind of forgot about it and then when I saw season two was being brought to Bravo, ’cause season one, I believe was on Peacock. And then when I saw season two was coming to Bravo, I’m like, I gotta check it out.
And I just set my DVR and I watched the last two weeks over the weekend and yeah, enjoying the show. I’m really curious to see how you know the other brothers, only Steven and Galena and the mother and one other person even know that their dad is basically in big, big trouble for insurance fraud.
But that’s obviously gotta be a storyline by the end of the season. And finally, we gotta talk about what was the big discussion on social media over the weekend, and that was the release of Happy Gilmore II on Netflix on Friday. So many people are freaking out about this. So many, it’s like once again.
Everyone’s gotta have a hot take on something and it’s like, oh my God, loved Happy Gilmore, or, oh my God, that was terrible. Look, my opinion, spoiler free, it was okay. Like I, I didn’t have expectations that Happy Gilmore too. Was gonna be this introspective movie that was gonna be up for Academy Awards.
It’s Happy Gilmore. What did you expect this to be? And considering they were very, very open about how many different celebrities were going to be in this movie? Yes. It was way more, and it was, I don’t wanna say way different, but
essentially the same thing. Was the plot any good? No. But this was all about a, you know, a sequel being made. 20 years later, 25 years later, we’re seeing this all the time. So they’re trying for nostalgia factor by bringing back old characters and doing some callbacks, but also trying to incorporate what’s going on in the world today.
And Happy Gilmore too, if I’m being honest, was an average movie that was basically made for this generation. It was, let’s throw as many cameos of famous people that people love watching on TikTok and social media and just give them one or two lines in this movie, and then we’ll build a weak ass plot around it.
Because this movie is more about the cameos than anything else, but it’s Happy Gilmore, what were you expecting? You know, I liked it. It was good. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible, and everybody’s like freaking out about this. Oh, what an insult to the first movie. It’s like. It’s happy freaking Gilmore.
What were you expecting? Anyway. Thank you all for listening. Really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcast. Also, rate and review, but you gotta hit play.
