You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality. Steve Podcast, I’m your host reality. Steve, thank you all for tuning in on this Wednesday. Good show for you today. I’m gonna tell you what’s coming up on the podcast tomorrow, the weekly podcast you Patreon. Subscribers are gonna be getting that later today, assuming everything goes as planned.
Dancing with the Stars last night, I’m guessing a lot of people have some thoughts about who was eliminated. We’ll discuss it. I really want to throw DUIs, Dux, Moy. I wanna throw some shade at them for what they did earlier this week. I am sure you’ve all seen this guy making the rounds in the sports world and on the talk show Circuit Os Perlman, the Mentalist.
I’ve got some thoughts about what I’m seeing him doing and as we get closer and closer to the rewatch of Back to the Future Friday night, I’ve got another note for you and we will get to all that right now. So. To start off patreon.com/reality. Steve, you can sign up $5 a month or you can get 12 months for the price of 10.
You can sign up for the year. It’s only $48. And the group chat is, you can go in whenever you want, talk to anybody in the group. And, and what’s interesting is, ’cause I didn’t know, I mean, I, I figured people were gonna sign up. But of every of the people that have signed up so far, I think it’s a little bit more, have signed up for the year than for the monthly, which is really cool.
Thank you very much. I had no idea. I just never thought, I just thought most people would sign up for $5 a month. I’m kind of amazed how many of you have signed up for the year already. So I thank you for that. And I think if you’ve signed up for the month, you can. Say, screw it. I wanna sign up for the year, I think.
But again, you know what? I don’t know. You’ll have to go check on that and see if there’s an option or what it does. Or maybe at the I, I don’t know. I don’t know if you can do an upgrade or maybe you just wait when next month it auto renews for you. For $5. Maybe you just cancel the auto renew and just do a year, and then the year would start from, you know, December.
Of 2025 to December of 2026. I don’t know, but looking forward to Friday night, 8:00 PM Eastern, seven Central six Mountain five Pacific. I understand if you can’t make it, but if you are a subscriber, you can go back and watch it at any point. It will not be given free to anybody on my YouTube channel or free.
That’s the main exclusive that Patreon subscribers get. You’ll get live Rees. I’m actually gonna do another rewatch next week, probably in the middle of the week and probably in the middle of the day because it’s going to be a short 30 minute show, which without commercials is 22 minutes long. But it’s of a classic, and I don’t know what day I’m doing it yet, but you’ll know.
You know, I don’t have to save it for a Friday or Saturday night ’cause it’s literally gonna take 22 minutes. But probably gonna do that, I don’t know, Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. And then, like I said, any sort of information that I get bachelor related, wise, entertainment, news wise, I’ll definitely cover on my Patreon first.
But anything involving a movie or a TV show that I’m showing on my Patreon and giving commentary along with it that can never be on my. Free YouTube channel. It can’t be on YouTube because it will get dinged for copyright purposes. So that’s the benefit to signing up along with getting Thursday’s weekly podcast on my Patreon as soon as I’m done recording it and upload it to my Patreon.
Speaking of that podcast number four 70. Yes. Four 70 is going to be with. Back to the future author Brad Gilmore. He’s got a book out that came out about six months ago called Why We Love Back to The Future, 40 Years of Fandom, flux Capacitors and Timeless Adventures. I had Brad on during the Pandemic because he had released a book.
He had made a book called Back to the Future, and it’s called Brad Gilmore. Excuse me, it was back from the future, a celebration of the greatest time travel story ever told. If you want to Google that, just Google reality. Steve Brad Gilmore podcast and you’ll find it. But he’s coming on to talk about the second book that he released about six months ago, and I wanted to have him on because I thought the timing was good with the first Back to the future rewatch happening this Friday night, and we’re just gonna kind of go down memory lane.
Talk about his book and if you thought I was a nerd for this franchise Brad is definitely a historian as well for this movie and this trilogy, so you’d be able to check that out. Like I said I was set to record with Brad over the weekend and he had to postpone and he postponed till today, so I’m recording this afternoon.
Hopefully his schedule allows as well. If not, I’ll probably just get Dave Neil to come on and record the podcast. But I really want Brad and I told him, would love to have you as this week’s guest since I launched my Patreon and I’m doing a live rewatch on Friday night of Back to the Future. So. His book is Why We Love Back to the Future, 40 years of Fandom, flex Capacitors, and Timeless Adventures.
He’s gonna be the guest on the weekly podcast, and as soon as it’s recorded, I can upload it to my Patreon and all you subscribers can get access to it early. You don’t have to wait for it to come out tomorrow on Apple Podcasts and Spotify and on my YouTube channel at 9:15 AM Eastern Time. So look forward to that with Brad Dancing With the Stars last night.
Gotta talk about it. First off, I just wanna say the theme of the night. Absolutely loved if anybody attended that. You’re listening right now. If you attended my 50th birthday party back in May, I’m pretty sure I had two print songs in my playlist. There was no other artist that ever had more than two in my playlist.
There were a few that had two, but Prince was one of like maybe three or four in a, in a, in a song list of probably 55, 60 songs. Love Prince. Love is music and so many good performances last night. The biggest thing that I’m guessing everybody will be talking about today is Whitney Levitt. Essentially, the odds on favorite to win this thing was eliminated, and there’s really no point in answering the question, Hey, do you think Whitney should have been eliminated?
Of course not on Dancing ability. Absolutely not. But we know what this show is. This show is a popularity contest. And even though I don’t watch Secret Lives of Mormon wives, I’m well aware of Whitney’s character on that show, and I’m well aware that there are a lot of women out there that don’t like her.
And of course, that played a major role because she has been basically dominating the leaderboards of this show for 10 weeks. So for her not to make the finals means that. The fan base wasn’t there. I know they just released season three of Secret Lives of Mormon wives and apparently Whitney, I believe she said something on that show where she literally said, I’m using.
Secret lives of Mormon wives to get on Dancing With the Stars. There’s nothing wrong inherently with saying that. I mean, don’t you want honesty out of people on reality tv? I mean, what’s the thing you complain about the most when it comes to Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants? These people that say they went on the show to find love and all this stuff.
When be honest, you’re on the show to build a brand. So Whitney expresses that, and who knows if it played a role, but I don’t think it helped because. The people that vote on this show that may have seen secret lives of Mormon wives may not just like hearing somebody say that because they hold dance with the stars very sacred and they don’t want people trying to get on the show, even though I think the average person doesn’t understand.
The people that do end up on this show, a lot of them are being pitched by their agencies. Like people. Most of this cast are people that want to be on the show and put out feelers. It’s not like the Dancing with the Stars casting team. What’s her name? Dina Katz. It’s not like she’s just like, well, I’ve got a blank slate of who to come on next season.
Let me just start making calls and see if people are interested. Most people are people that their agencies and their agents are pitching them to go on Dancing with the Stars. So just because Whitney expressed it out loud, while I understand the fan base probably doesn’t take to that very well. She’s really no different than pretty much anybody else who’s been cast on this show.
They’re all being pitched. She just verbalized it. So of course she shouldn’t have been eliminated based on dancing, but when has this show ever been 100% based on dancing skills? It hasn’t. We know that’s the case, and unfortunately for Whitney, she didn’t make the finals. I did appreciate her going out gracefully, though.
She wasn’t shading anybody. She wasn’t shading the show. She wasn’t shading voters. She just talked about what a great time she had. She made lifelong friends. And this experience changed their life. And that’s what you want to hear from these people. You don’t want to hear people like Aria Baldwin basically taking shots at the show because she felt she was unfairly treated.
And it’s just like, look, aria, you were behind the eight ball the second you signed up for this show just because of who your husband is. There’s just too many people out there that don’t like him and they’re gonna associate you with him. Unfortunately, that’s how it goes. I can’t say that I thought she was bullied off the show, like she claimed she was.
I’m not gonna say she wasn’t, but just take the way she was eliminated from the show versus Whitney. And I thought Whitney handled herself with class and I know nothing about Whitney Levitt. I’ve never seen her on any other show for more than three seconds. I’ve seen her on Dancing With the Stars, but I read stuff.
I am aware that she’s not the most liked person on Secret Lives of Mormon wives. So good for her to get this experience, make great friends out of it. And I just. I understand why maybe the average fan base, maybe that got around to them what she said on secret Lives of Mormon wives, and they just didn’t want her on there anymore because to be at the top of the leaderboard as she was for most weeks, and then to not even make the finals, she must’ve been getting a significant amount lower votes than some of the others.
So now you got a finals of Elaine. Dylan Efrin, Elaine Hendricks, Dylan Efrin, Robert Irwin, Alex Earl, and Jordan Chiles. Right? Those are the five. Elaine, Jordan, Robert, Alex, and Dylan. I think at this point, Alex Earl is now going to be your winner. I’ve been saying all season. How do you not vote? Robert Erwin.
I guess I shouldn’t say, I know Alex is gonna win. I don’t, but I definitely think it’s gonna be between Alex and Robert. I think they’re finishing one two, and I’ll say Jordan Chiles finishes fifth. I’ll say, Elaine finishes fourth, Dylan third. And I don’t know, because again, we have no idea. About how the voting is, and it’s really gonna come down to the fan vote because I’m guessing Robert and Alex are both getting perfect scores on all their dances in the finals.
Next week, maybe one will get one point less, so it’s gonna come down to the fan base score. And I, I, I just don’t know. Obviously Robert Irwin is the most likable. We know that people, the women of this show don’t necessarily like voting for other women. And there’s probably, you know, for a few people out there, maybe more than a few, just an inherent jealousy about Alex Earl because of the way she looks.
You can’t say that’s off base because we know that’s kinda the way it works. Good looking women on the internet are not the most beloved women, and I’m sure she’s got a great fan base. There are people out there that absolutely love her, but I guarantee you there are people out there that hate her just because she looks the way she looks.
That will affect your voting as opposed to Robert Irwin? I don’t know. You can’t not like every single ounce of that guy. Like what has he ever done to make somebody mad? So I don’t know. But one of them’s winning and I think 3, 4, 5, we’ll be dealing Elaine and then Jordan. So yeah, we’re voting on dancing skills.
Alex should win. If we’re voting on popularity personality, then Robert would win. So we’ll just have to see next week, but I’m looking forward to it. ’cause I really thought it was gonna be more of a three person race. ’cause I figured Whitney would at least get to the finals. But the fact that she couldn’t finish higher than sixth, I mean, come on now.
