The other thing I wanna mention that I talked about yesterday was Whitney’s freestyle that her and Mark did on Call Her Daddy, and I see a lot of people online just absolutely losing their shit over it, saying, oh my gosh, this is so amazing.
And I watched it. I actually watched it twice and my opinion was it was a good dance, but how do I put this? That wasn’t Dancing with the Stars. That was a highly produced, edited dance. The whole reason why we thought Whitney was great all season was because she did the live aspect of it where you have.
60 seconds, 90 seconds to do a live dance. And anything can go wrong. When you have the ability to produce a final dance and you have the ability to edit stuff out and work in costume changes, it’s like, okay, that was, it was good. It was impressive, but we’re comparing apples and oranges here because she wouldn’t have been able to do that dance if she made the finals.
So why is everybody freaking out over that dance? It’s not what she would’ve been able to do if she made the finals. And this isn’t to discredit Whitney at all. She was the best dancer this season. We all know this. Regardless of her dance background, clearly she had professional dance experience. I don’t care about that anymore when it comes to this show because one or two people every season have a dance background.
We all know why she got eliminated. It had nothing to do with her dancing. It’s because people didn’t really care for her character on Secret Lives of Mormon wives, we know this, but let’s tap the brakes on. What an unbelievable freestyle she did with Mark when they had the advantage of taping it and didn’t have to do it live.
Let’s calm down people. And finally, the last thing I wanna say about her performing that freestyle on Call her Daddy is this.
Yeah. Now that the show has pulled these unbelievable numbers this year, and these are the best ratings it has had in years, the finale best rating they had in years. I talked about the market share they had in the 18 to 49 demo, all this. So they are clearly on an upswing, 34 seasons into their show, they are hitting a peak.
Of, wow, we’ve got a resurgence. These numbers still didn’t draw what the early seasons and the peak of the show did for the reasons I explained earlier. There was just less stuff on TV and there was no streaming services back when this show first started. But what I will say is now Dancing with the Stars is very well aware.
We’re on a resurgence. We gotta keep this momentum going. And we can talk all we want about potential cast members for next season. We’re nine months away from that, but I gotta believe, and I don’t know her schedule, but don’t you have to go after Alex Cooper next year. She is the most popular podcaster in the world, if not most popular.
She’s top three. She clearly has a liking for the show. She’s had people from the show on her podcast. She did what she did with Whitney this week. You have to go after Alex Cooper and she’s busy. I know this and I don’t know if it fits her schedule.
Who knows. She’s got that Hulu dating show coming out next year, but I think that’s gonna be in the first half of 2026, isn’t it? Dance with the Stars isn’t until September of 2026. It’s a way to cross promote if the show is coming out around the time of Dance with the Stars next year. I don’t know. But now that this show knows, hey, if we cast really popular people, people are tuning in.
I think you gotta go after Alex Cooper next year. That’s just one name. Obviously, I could think of other ones if I really sat down and been like, okay, but you gotta at least ask, and I, I don’t know. It seems like Alex Cooper, this would be something that totally up her alley. To do. I just don’t know if it fits her schedule with all the other things that she has going on in her life.
But once I saw the call her daddy stuff, I’m like, well, now it just makes sense to put Alex on the show next year since so many people watched Whitney and Mark’s stance.
