You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality C Podcast. I’m your host reality. Steve. Thank you all for tuning in. A good show for you on this Tuesday I’m gonna talk about Love Is Blind, the six episode premiere. I’m assuming it’s six episodes, is gonna drop tomorrow. I’m gonna tell you what’s going on with that.
I’ve got an update on one of the changes made to American Idol coming up this season. Don’t know if you’ve heard about this one. I didn’t know about it until yesterday, so we’ll talk about it. I also am going to talk about Savannah Guthrie, but nothing to where, I’m not talking conspiracy theories. I’m not talking anything politically motivated or anything like that.
I have a genuine, honest question about everything that’s happening with this kidnapping of her mother because I honestly, I feel like I’ve never seen anything like this before. I will get into it. Don’t worry. It’s nothing political. It has nothing to do with conspiracy theories or what is this even about?
And I don’t even know if I believe any of this stuff. Trust me, I’ve seen everything going around on the internet. I’m just gonna go off what we’ve been given so far because I have a question about it. I also have a response to one of those memes where it says, I was today years old when I found out about this.
Yeah. I came across one of those and I’m like, oh. That’s what that is. Did not know that. And then I’m going to read you one of the most horrifying headlines ever and the story that goes along with it and something you just absolutely shake your head at in this day and age. And we’ll get to all that right now.
So Love is Blind Drops their first six episodes tomorrow on Netflix. They usually, Netflix usually does it at three in the morning Eastern Time. So. I’m gonna wake up tomorrow morning, have to record a podcast. This week’s weekly podcast guest is gonna be with Jackie Maroney from She’s All batch. We got a lot to talk about there with her, but we are I, after I record with Jackie in the morning, then I’m just gonna sit down and watch six hours.
Straight of Love is Blind episodes ’cause that’s how long it’s gonna take. Some of those episodes are like a hour and five, hour and 10. So probably end up being around six and a half hours. But I want to get that outta the way Wednesday I can watch it. And then on Thursday, just like I go live on Traders Recaps on my YouTube channel on Friday, I’m gonna be doing the same thing.
This season with Love is Blind ’cause it’s only gonna be four weeks of stuff, right? Because I’m gonna go live on Thursday at 3:00 PM Eastern Time on my YouTube channel to discuss. What we saw on Love is Blind. I understand not all of you are gonna be able to get to six episodes from the time it comes out tomorrow morning till the time I go live on Thursday at 3:00 PM Eastern Time.
That’s fine. It’ll be there on my YouTube channel for you to go watch at any point you want, but this is my job. I have nothing else going on Wednesday afternoon, so I’m gonna do it. I’m excited about it. And obviously the spoiler already out there in terms of who gets engaged. I do think I’m getting closer.
In fact, I know one couple that’s definitely, that definitely did get married. I will say this, you know, spoiler alert there is at least one that got married at least. So I’ll leave at that, but I’m not gonna name any names right now. That’ll be coming later. But yeah, I think I’m gonna do that every Thursday ’cause I’m guessing six episode drop on.
Wednesday and then next week will be three, and the week after, that’ll be two. And then the last episode, if they decide to do a separate week for the reunion or the finale will be week four, and then maybe the reunion is the fifth week. So this thing will be done by mid-March. March. I brought up American Idol yesterday and somebody.
Had stepped in and emailed me and said, Hey, I know you said you thought they’re calling it American Idol University this year because maybe it’s a takeoff of Shiz University and dealing with the Wicked Franchise, and they just wanted to call it something different. Apparently, that’s not the reason they’re calling it American Idol University.
It’s because they’re filming the whole season at Belmont University in Tennessee. And they’re filming it on campus. All the auditions and you know, quote unquote Hollywood Week, I guess all filming in the same location before they go to their episodes where they film in Hawaii. They definitely are doing that again.
Well yesterday on billboard.com, someone didn’t interview with executive producer and showrunner, Megan Michaels Wolf flick. And they basically just asking, we’ve got some changes this year. Can you explain what those changes are going to be? And when they go to Hawaii this year, they’re gonna be there for three episodes, and one of those episodes is gonna be called the Ohana Round.
It’s like, what’s the Ohana Round? Well, Ohana refers to extended family, including relatives, friends, and social groups. So they were asked, well, how will this new round work? And the showrunner said, we are doing an extra episode here at Ani, and it comes after Hollywood Week, but before America’s vote, Hollywood Week is its own vortex through time and space.
We wanted to see how we could inform the judges about who is resonating with different groups. It’s a social experiment. In my mind. The Han Round is the ultimate focus group. You have three groups of people. You have the idols, you have the families, and then we’ve curated a select group of influencers and music and industry experts to come in from their point of view.
I wanted to see who would be the favorite in each of these groups. So they’re like, well, wait a second. Each group will vote and will have a number one choice that might be the same or might be different. And the number one picks of each group received this year’s platinum tickets. Can the families vote for their own?
No. Excuse me. They cannot. The idols can’t vote for themselves as a finalist. You can’t vote for your own family member. And that was important to them. So basically it looks like, I’m assuming this is gonna be three groups of 10. I, I don’t know, maybe they’re doing three groups of 15. But essentially you’re gonna have, let’s just say it’s three groups of 10.
One person, out of those three groups, each will be voted on as the best singer by family members of the people in that group, and influencers, talkers, people in the music industry. So they’re adding that round and, okay. It’s something different. I’m fine with it. I mean, this show is how many seasons in, have we have we seen this show?
It’s over 20 seasons in combining when it was on Fox and when it moved to a, b, C, for sure. So over 20 seasons, you gotta, you gotta spice things up a little bit. Apparently this is very similar to how they do Eurovision song contest, where you can’t vote for your own country. Something along the line. You can’t vote for your own person, but it was important to do a song that meant something to their family growing up and dedicated to someone in their family.
I loved having a camera on our industry experts. It was like on TikTok, they have reaction videos. It was like watching a real life reaction video. We really wanted them to express themselves and react. So something different this season on American Idol, the Han Round. Everything that you see before the Ohana Round looks like it’s going to be filmed.
There is no Hollywood Week, even though they’re calling it Hollywood Week, still gonna be filmed in Tennessee. Everything’s being filmed at where you’re seeing it right now, I guess in Belmont University. And then they go to Hollywood Week and then the live show start. And remember, this show is on Mondays this season, not on Sunday nights, and they’re never having an episode.
They’re never having a double episode week. This season, it’s all gonna be one episode on Monday nights. I. This podcast is brought to you by zocdoc. Life can feel like a big puzzle.
