You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality. Steve Podcast, I’m your host reality. Steve, thank you all for tuning in. On this Tuesday, good show for you today. Again, gonna go over what’s coming up on the Patreon today. Three o’clock Eastern Time Live rewatch of a 9 0 2 1 oh episode from 1997, almost to the day, well, maybe two weeks earlier, we’ll go over that.
Didn’t even talk about Taylor Frankie Paul at the NBA All Star Weekend this past weekend. The All NBA Celebrity game on Friday. Little bit more about love is blind, the couples, the filming of everything, and just an awful high school janitor story. If I say that a high school janitor’s in trouble, you could probably guess within three guesses what it had to do with.
So let’s get started. As I mentioned yesterday. Coming up today on my Patreon channel, patreon.com/reality. Steve, we are going to do a live rewatch of Beverly Hills 9 0 2 1 oh season seven, episode 18 called We Interrupt This Program, and that is a very famous phrase from, I don’t really know if TV shows do that anymore.
They’ll usually just say breaking news now, but back in the day, eighties and nineties when you were watching a TV show, if all of a sudden in the middle of your favorite TV show, they broke to the news, they would always say, we interrupt this program. Well, that’s the title, because this episode aired February 5th, 1997.
Basically, what, 29 days. 29 years and 12 days to the date of today. 13 days where? Senior year of high school and, excuse me, senior year of college for the 9 0 2 1 oh kids, and maybe some of you don’t even remember. But Brandon decided to work at the campus TV station, C UT v California University tv. His senior year of college there, he met Tracy Gallian, a very cute brunette that he didn’t want to date at first because we pretty much knew he still pined for Kelly.
But Kelly started dating the other guy in the newsroom, Mark Reese, who was a total dba. And Brandon had to work with him. So then Brandon starts dating the anchor woman. Her name was Tracy Gallian, played by actress Jill Novik, who I’ve literally reached out to three different times on Instagram. We follow each other, but either she doesn’t wanna come on the podcast.
Or she hasn’t read my message. I don’t know if she has her red messages on on Instagram. It shows that it hasn’t been read, but she might have her red messages off. I don’t know, but I’ve asked her three different times. She’s not very active. She’s a drama teacher and New Mexico I’d love to get her on.
Anyway, that’s Brando’s girlfriend for most of senior year of college. Anyway. Donna is the weather woman at CUTV, even though she doesn’t know the first thing about weather, they’re just putting her on there because she wore skimpy outfits. I mean, that’s literally why they hired her and they told her to do that.
Well, one of the guys at the station becomes obsessed with her, and we see Donna being stalked for probably eight to 10 episodes leading up to this episode. But one of the episodes shows that she had found out the man who tried to assault her sophomore year of college by the name of Garrett Lan had been released from prison.
So she just assumes it’s him. We all assume it’s him. He’s actually showing up and saying it’s not him, and he’s not the one harassing, Ernie knows who is, but we just feel. In 1997. Oh, he’s just saying that to not get in trouble and not get arrested again. Well, we find out it’s actually somebody that works at the station who actually went on a date with Kelly.
Seemed like a good guy at the time. But no, he was obsessed with Donna and he finally basically comes clean. When she comes back to work because she had taken time off due to the fact that she had been being stalked. She comes back to work and he just felt the need to tell her that it was him. And Donna runs and tells Brandon, and right as Brandon’s about to call the police, he, this guy pulls a gun and basically holds everybody hostage in the newsroom.
And that’s where the whole episode, I’d say the last two thirds, three quarters of the episode. Or that storyline, and it’s an all timer, just because I remember watching it. I don’t think I actually thought somebody was going to die like one of the main characters, like he was actually gonna kill somebody.
But you also gotta remember, this is 1997, I think I literally had just started getting an email address in 96. So this is before social media, and this guy just went crazy because he wanted Donna to himself. And while I didn’t think anybody was gonna die, I did possibly think, well, I didn’t really know how it was gonna turn out.
I’m like, well, how are they gonna get this guy to give up the hostage situation of all people? Would you believe that Donna Martin was the one? That came up with the genius plan. She did. Anyway, that’s what we’re rewatching today on the Patreon channel. It’s a good one. patreon.com/reality. Steve, five bucks a month, $48 for the year.
If you wanna sign up. I, I didn’t even bring up the fact that last week, at the end of last week, Friday, to be exact, Taylor, Frankie Paul played. In the NBA celebrity game on All Star weekend. Did she do much in the basketball game? No. She had one assist. No points. She didn’t take a shot, she had no rebounds, and I don’t think she had any turnovers.
I don’t think she played very much either, but she was asked to do it and she got to run up and down the court a few times and I don’t know when we’re gonna start getting previews for her season. But I could pretty much tell you, I think I’m gonna find out who she chose before. I’m gonna find out the episode by episode stuff.
I don’t know if I’m gonna have the episode by episode stuff this season. And honestly, I think what most people really care about is what happens at the end. If I get the episode by episode stuff great. I mean, we know from Vegas on roughly. Who’s left, but, ’cause we saw those photos that came out in Las Vegas during the Chippendales Group date of who was still left on the show.
Well, after that we can kind of maybe piece things together because it went Colorado, then Vegas, then Miami, and then they were at hometowns. But obviously I will update you.
