Daily Roundup 3/2 – Pushback Online from the Colton Coverage, Survivor Ratings for the Premiere Are Biggest in 4 Years, Bachelor Themed Show Starts Tonight, Jury Duty 2 This Month, & What Movie I Saw This Weekend

On Thursday’s podcast, I had spent a lot of time talking about the survivor premiere, the three hour premiere update. This week’s is only an hour and a half, so it’s back to its regular hour and a half episodes. And when I look at the survivor premiere, I’m like, this is appointment television.

And anybody that knows me knows. Survivor’s been my favorite reality show ever. It will always be my favorite reality show. I watch every season. I’ve watched every episode of every season. My memory retention of it isn’t great. I couldn’t tell you certain winners, but, or certain even moments that happen, I just forget because they all kind of run together for me.

But I did say in Thursday’s podcast, it’s appointment television for me this season. Apparently it was for a lot of other people because the survivor 50 Premier delivered CBS’s most watched Wednesday night in four years. It’s the number one show of the night in both total viewers and adults. 25 to 54.

It averaged 5.06 million viewers with a peak of 6.1 million viewers in the first 30 minutes. And I think when I look at Survivor this season, I wanna emphasize what I said on Thursday. I’ll watch every episode of every season that Survivor puts out, but when survivors 51 hits in the fall, it’s going to be a cast seemingly of all new players.

And when we see a season of all new players, it’s impossible to know anything about these people. Outside of the edit that we’re being given in the episodes, right? We don’t know these people. So while it’s still a great show and there might be some backstabbing, might even be a blindside in the very first episode and very first tribal council, it doesn’t hit as deep because we don’t know who these people are.

We’ve never seen them play before. Survivor 50 is appointment television. Because we know all these people. We know there are pregame alliances out there. Will they stick out there on the island? Did they stick out there on the island? Since we know this was filmed about a year ago, it’s so much more interesting in the early episodes because as great as Survivor is, in the early episodes, I’d say every episode pre merge in an all new cast season, just doesn’t get the season rolling that much.

It doesn’t hit until really the merge when we feel like we’ve got a fairly good grasp on a lot of the contestants Survivor 50 right off the bat. You know everybody, you know their gameplay, you know how they’ve played in the past, you know who their friends are. You know, when they try to make alliances with somebody else, maybe it’s like, oh, that’s interesting, because they might have this connection or that connection from the past.

I just absolutely love season 50 in any. Any worries that I had preseason have already gone out the window in one episode. Guess what? We have bachelor programming tonight. No, not Taylor. Frankie, Paul’s season. That doesn’t start for another three weeks. Three weeks from yesterday, March 22nd. Remember, bachelorette is gonna be on Sunday nights.

No, we’ve got a show called the Bachelor Mansion. Takeover starts tonight. It’s on the HGTV channel. I believe it has probably eight or 10 episodes and it’s gonna air every Monday night, two hour episodes. Frequent podcast guest and friend Courtney Robertson is on it. You’ve got Dean, you’ve got Noah, you’ve got Joan, the Golden Bachelorette, you’ve got Alicia, you’ve got Sam McKinney, you’ve got Tammy ly.

There’s eight total, I believe. Or maybe it’s, no, it’s, sorry, 12. I just named probably, what, six or seven of them? Look, I’m not an HGTV guy. I can’t say I’ve really ever watched many shows on HGTV. Maybe I’ve watched one of those renovation shows in the past, but it is not a channel that I frequent all that much.

I will watch this every Monday night, the Bachelor Mansion Takeover show, just because I’m interested in seeing my friend Courtney on it and seeing how everything plays out. You know, she has explained to me her experience on the show and I just wanna see it all play out. I wanna see what they do to the mansion, how it looks, all that stuff.

Apparently there is gonna be some drama and we’ll just have to see how it’s edited. But if you need a little fix, and I think the reason that they’re airing it three weeks before Taylor, Frankie Paul season starts is because the renovations that were made to the mansion, I believe. We’re gonna see ’cause remember, the first four episodes of Taylor, Frankie Paul’s bachelorette season are at the Mansion.

So you will see the makeovers done in some of the rooms in the mansion, and then in three weeks you’ll see them during Taylor, Frankie Paul’s season. I believe, I mean, I think that’s the whole point of this show. It would really seem pointless if they did the Bachelor Mansion takeover show and had these contestants compete in challenges where they redid rooms in the house and interior decorated like the kitchen and the living room and the Rose ceremony room and all that stuff.

And then Taylor, Frankie, Paul’s season has started and everything’s changed from the changes that they made to this because these. This filming of this show, the Bachelor Mansion Takeover Show was in September of last year, and it lasted for about three weeks or a month. And then Taylor, Frankie Paul’s season began filming at the Mansion, I want to say October 21st, something along those lines.

It was like third week of October, so it had only been from the time that show ended filming. It’d only been another three weeks before Taylor, Frankie Paul’s season started airing. I gotta believe the rooms are gonna still be shown, but who knows? We’ll find out tonight, but check it out. It’s on HGTV.

It’s called the Bachelor Mansion Takeover Show. Jesse Palmer is the host, but just like Wells and Hannah were there as part of Bachelor Paradise, even though Jesse was the host of Bachelor in Paradise, Tyler Cameron and Tisha Adams are in the roles of the Wells and Hannah as we were on Bachelor in Paradise.

So check it out tonight. Another show recommendation I have for you, but this is not coming out for about three weeks. Do you remember the show that came out on Amazon? I think it was last year, might’ve been late 2024, called Jury Duty, where it was basically like the Joe Schmo show. Everybody on the show was an actor except one person and, and the plot of it, or the theme of it was jury duty.

12 people on a jury. There was a judge, there was a case, James Marsden was in it, and everybody on the jury, everybody that was on the show was an actor or an actress except for one person on the jury. And he thought that his jury duty, that he was called to, and this case that he was assigned to was real and he was being filmed for it, and everybody was being filmed for it.

And then they break it to him at the end, and I think he got a hundred thousand dollars. Well, jury duty season two is coming back. Maybe you’ve seen the trailer for it online. It starts November 20th. It’s on Amazon Prime again. And this one you’re just gonna be like, well, how are they gonna do another jury duty one?

Anybody that saw the first season would think something’s up here. Well, it’s not about jury duty, even though it’s called jury duty. It’s called Jury Duty Company Retreat, and essentially one person on this company retreat. Is the quote unquote sto in all this. He’s the one that has no idea what’s going on, and everybody else that’s part of this company is an actor or actress, and the trailer looks very funny.

Clearly, he’s going to make it all the way to the end and then get paid and he’s gonna be in on the joke. You know, kind of like the Joe Schmo show that we covered last summer. Remember when we had Ben Franzone on and we were watching that show and how funny that was. Same thing’s gonna happen here. The trailer, go look for it if you want to, and you go watch it.

It’s like two and a half minutes long. And yeah, it’s a guy that gets hired at a company like the week they are going on their company retreat. So he’s just like meeting everybody for the first time and he gets to be part of the company retreat and everybody else is just wheels off and acting and he just has no idea clearly what’s happening.

Yeah, that comes out on March 20th, on Amazon Prime. And finally, I just want to mention this. Went and saw Scream Seven this past weekend on Saturday. I am, I’m not really a horror movie guy except for the Scream franchise. Like I’ve never seen the, what was the, the, the it with the clown and I watched him growing up.

I watched Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. And. That stuff when I was growing up, but, and I’ll watch ’em, I’m not, I don’t get scared at movies and scream isn’t really scare. It’s kind of jump scare a few scenes in that, but it’s more campy and it’s more about the blood and guts and basically more of a who done it.

And I’m not gonna give away plot points to scream season seven or scream part seven. I did like the fact that Nev Campbell. Came back to the franchise. I thought it kind of lost its luster with number six. It was just kind of wacky. There is one thing I wanna point out though, that I had no idea until the movie was over, and it kind of relates to what I talked about at the beginning of this podcast.

I don’t know if you know, maybe you do, maybe you don’t. Cassie Randolph’s sister is Michelle Randolph. She is in 1923. She’s in Landman. Two shows that I do not watch. She’s also dating Glen Powell. I’m sure you saw that hit the news outlets within the last couple months. Anyway, I’m watching Scream seven.

It was what it was. It’s exactly what you would expect from a screen movie, a bunch of gory stabbings, and then at the end you’re like, oh, okay. Whether or not you like who the killers are, neither here nor there. I think some people will probably have an issue with it, but whatever. Anyway, I didn’t know until after the movie that Michelle Randolph was in Scream Seven, because I don’t watch 1923 or Landman, so I can’t recognize her very much by her face.

And yeah, she’s in it. Spoiler alert, she doesn’t last because basically everybody in the movie gets killed and she’s one of them. But I had no idea it was her until the movie ended. And I just wanted to point that out. If you liked any of the other screen movies, this is right up your alley. You know? Is it gonna win an Oscar?

Absolutely not. Is anybody gonna win for best actor and best actress? Absolutely not. But it is in the same vein of the previous six. It’s good. There’s a lot of killings. There’s a lot of running and screaming. You know, the fact that it came out in 2026, it does have a little more technology to it. I’ll leave it at that.

But I enjoyed it for what it was. I knew exactly what I was expecting going in, and it met my expectations. I know it hasn’t gotten great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and whatnot, but if you liked any of the other screams, I think you’ll like this. Especially the fact that it just seems right. That Nev Campbell and Courtney Cox are, are back in it together.

Remember, I believe the sixth one was more about Courtney Cox being chased in New York, like she was the one that the killers were after. I can’t even remember the reason why, but they were, and I can’t even remember which one Dewey died in. Did he die in five or six? I don’t even know, but anyway. I enjoyed it and I just wanted to let you know that Cassie’s sister is in it, and I had no idea until the credits started rolling at the end of the movie.

Anyway. Thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcasts. Also, rate and review, but you gotta hit play. It’s the only way it counts is a download Sports Daily coming up in an hour from now if you wanna check that out. Again, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it, and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.

See ya.
