The “Bachelor” Episode 7 Recap Incl Podcast #12 with the Possessionista Dana Weiss Discussing Rachel as the Next “Bachelorette”

-So we pick up where we left off last week and that’s Nick coming to the ladies’ room after eliminating Danielle on her 2-on-1 date, crying, saying he doesn’t know if this is gonna work out for him, then a voiceover of “I don’t think I can do this anymore” which was clearly taken from a conversation somewhere else this season since we never see his face on screen when he says this. Which is just a ploy to further along this storyline that, “Oh my God!!! Nick might quit the show!!!” It seriously shows how stupid this show thinks their fans are. It’s not like we haven’t seen footage of Nick in Finland this season. Or on dates in Bimini with Vanessa, Danielle, swimming with sharks and the girls, and Rachel. Or the fact that in the history of this show no lead has ever quit and never will. I mean, it’s one thing to say the lead is struggling with a decision, but to continually play up this storyline, then have the girls act like they really think he might leave is insulting everyone’s intelligence. Morons.

-Nick has a little sit down with Chris Harrison on the beaches of St. Thomas to talk about him, well, “quitting.” Another stupid ass conversation that I can’t believe either didn’t break out into laughter during. What I found interesting during this conversation (and also seemed to be a running theme this episode), was during Nick and Chris’ conversation, they spliced back and forth what was going on back at the hotel. You had Rachel, Raven, and Kristina in one room giving their thoughts, and Danielle and Vanessa in another. Corinne wasn’t anywhere to be found because I’m sure she was off sleeping. Juuuuuuuuust thought it was interesting Vanessa wasn’t in the room with everyone else. Hmmmm, wonder why? And when you watch the rest of the episode, I’m stunned I tell ya’ that after her date, Vanessa is nowhere to be found. Ever. The whole episode.

-The segment with Chris ends with him saying, “So are you ready to quit and walk away?” DUN-DUN-DUUUUUNNNNNNNNN!!!!! OMG!!! What’s he gonna do????!!!! Nick goes to the girls rooms and brings his sad face. And horrible acting. Look, we all knew where this was headed. And so did the Nick. And so did the show. Maybe some of the girls were actually fooled by it, but, they went along with it. Bottom line was we knew the end result would be him not sending anyone home and them all moving on, it was getting to that point that Nick had to really put those LA acting classes to use. And boy, he whipped up some tears rather quickly. “I got scared sending Danielle home…I have a past…had the rug pulled out from under me…(BAD ACTING)…thinking this morning how tough this week has been…(BAD ACTING)…but I also thought of the amazing moments with each of you here…(BAD ACTING)…you women I’m very excited about…been that close before…(BAD ACTING)…been that close before and…(BAD ACTING)…I want to get all of it there.” Again. Bad acting. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief, Nick isn’t going anywhere, he cancels the cocktail party and rose ceremony and tells all of them they’ll be headed to Bimini. Afterwards, he received a Razzie for his performance.

-The date card arrives dripping with sexual undertones. “Vanessa, lets go deeper.” Bow chicka bow bow. Uh huh. I hear ya’, Nick. No subtly there. When Vanessa greets him on the dock she runs, jumps into his arms, and gets the full straddle going. She definitely is taking that date card quite literally. And I’m sure Nick doesn’t mind in the least bit. While on the boat, she talks about her fears during this process, which was a whole other set up to tonight’s main them of “Nick is leaving this show alone,” which I find rather funny since, ummmmm, did you guys not forget in his first interviews of the season Nick told the press he found love on the show? So bizarre. Back at the house, Corinne is giving her thoughts on Vanessa, and lets just say they’re not the greatest. “I don’t see much depth to Vanessa…she’s a special needs teacher, she’s Italian, she has dinner with her family every Sunday night…how much depth is there?” What’s funny is that I’m sure the Vanessa crazies now all hate Corinne for speaking so negatively about their queen, yet, were probably praising Corinne and saying she was funny when she was calling Taylor a bitch 8 times. Can’t have it both ways. But then again, it’s impossible to reason with the ignorant.

-So they jump off the boat, frolic in the water, kiss a few times, and Vanessa is geared up for tonight. She’s ready people. “It’s so real what we have…I’m falling in love with him…I want to tell him.” Think they manufactured this whole date around Vanessa telling Nick she was in love with him along with his response? You bet your ass they did. Especially when we get Confident Vanessa right before the night portion of the date starts. “I know that Nick is feeling the same way I do.” Uh oh. Here it comes. Vanessa to Nick: “I love how easy it’s been with you…I wanted my next relationship to be easy…the feelings that I’ve felt for you…I haven’t felt in years…I feel confident and comfortable to tell you I am falling in love with you…” (Cue the happy music). Vanessa said it! The whole world knows now! She’s so excited to finally get it off her chest, because she knows Nick feels the same way! It’s a match made in heaven! Nick, your reponse…

-Nick: “I’ve fallen in love in this environment before…I’ve said I love you in this environment before…I believe there’s a greater love for me than I’ve had…I really, really like you…if I ever am lucky enough to say it again, I wanna say it to one person…I want to feel in a way I’m saying it for the first time.” Woooomp Woooooooooomp. Looks like Vanessa will have to wait a few weeks to get the answer she’s looking for. Vanessa: “Didn’t feel great after getting his answer. I felt we were on the same page.” So when people ask all the time about editing, I think this is a type of editing they forget about. Most people just think of frankenbiting, and leave stuff in, or taking stuff out of one particular character’s edit. Then there’s this edit we see last night of Nick and Vanessa’s whole relationship, where they’ve obviously built her up all season to get to this point and finally tell him she’s falling in love with him, only to have Nick not reciprocate it and Vanessa now questioning their relationship, and Nick continuing to question where he’s at. When in reality, we know exactly what Nick wanted to say at that moment, but couldn’t. I’m sure he knew at that point he was picking Vanessa. But to continue a storyline for the season, he had to make her think he was still struggling. I should produce this show because it’s about as easy as you can get.
