I have two questions. First, I’m a huge fan and daily listener of yours, and I wish I could afford the trip to Vegas for your fan appreciation party. Unfortunately, I don’t foresee me ever being able to afford a trip like that living on a teacher salary in Georgia. Would you be willing to offer some sort of live stream or podcast from the event that maybe you could share with your fans who are in my shoes? I would just love to feel a part of it somehow, if possible. Maybe an IG live for 15 or 20 minutes is possible. But live streaming the whole thing would honestly be pretty boring to watch. Because it’s just a party where people are standing around and mingling. There’s no band, no celebrities – nothing really to witness. Except when we do the raffle and prizes. So maybe I’ll go live doing that.
Second, I would really like to hear your overall opinion on what you think the root cause of Laura Owen’s actions are. You touched on this today in your daily roundup from the email that Clayton’s lawyer sent her lawyer, but I don’t remember a time where you have shared your own personal opinion. Ultimately, Do you think she’s a victim of a mental disorder (or multiple) that have caused her actions, or do you think that she’s just a manipulative, vindictive liar? Well, she’s both. Among other things. She definitely lives in an alternate reality and not very self aware at all. You read the text messages she used to send Clayton before she ever went public with anything and it’s clear is suffers from…something. Abandonment issues? Psychosis? Paranoid delusion? I don’t know. I’m not a doctor. But those messages to Clayton in both email and text were flat out disturbing and not from who is 100% mentally healthy.
I really do think because she had done this with two other men, she thought she could get away with it again, but not realizing when it comes to Bachelor Nation people, they will scour all ends of the earth digging to find stuff on someone’s character. Why’d she do it? I think because she’s sick mentally and doesn’t know any better. There is no explanation for having carried this out now for 8 months. Any normal sane person would never do this to someone else with that much evidence piled up against them.
Last, this isn’t a question, just a comment I want to make. Nothing makes me laugh more than when you go on your name-calling tirades of Nick Viall. ? Please, never stop.
Comment: I probably should cease on the name calling and just stick to adjectives that describe him. Calling him hypocritical, and a phony, and a bullshit artist isn’t name calling, is it? Prick Viall? Yes, that’s definitely name calling. Is it necessary? Probably not, but I don’t do it just to do it. When I call Nick out it’s for legitimate reasons and to hold him accountable, just like people do to me. But because he has more downloads than me and makes more money than me, he feels it’s not necessary to respond to people he believes are “below” him. To me, that’s screams major insecurity.

Just a question. I have noticed that Mike Fleiss has been tweeting about The Bachelor. The last one on Monday, saying “Enjoy the show tonight.”
Is he still with the show? My understanding was he left ( got fired?) on not so good terms. I must be wrong.
Comment: No. He has nothing to do with anything when it comes to this show anymore, so yeah, his tweets are a little weird. They literally removed you from the show after an investigation pretty much concluded he racially discriminated against his crew and treated people horribly. Not sure why he’d be tweeting out anything positive about the show. I know it’s his baby and his creation, but at some point, maybe you let go. Not to mention, him retweeting me from Monday night. Just weird.

Steve – I thoroughly enjoyed the first season of the Traitors-US and am so addicted this second season that I couldn’t stand waiting a week to watch more so I have watched both the Australia and UK versions which are on Peacock. I am a Survivor fan since day one so the Cirie win will never be topped for me, but both of those versions were highly entertaining and worth your time. You will not be disappointed. My only slight issue in the UK version was that some of the challenges are exactly the same as the first US season (I believe the UK one came first) so I considered fast forwarding, but then things happen that are talked about later in most of them so I was glad I watched the full episodes. This is not true for the Australia version as they have completely different challenges.
One other thing since I am writing…..I really hate it when you feel like you can’t make people happy with your spoilers because people always want more. I have to believe that is just 20 or maybe even 50 people who are complaining and the other thousands of us are quite content with whatever you are able to get your hands on in a season. I hope when you talk about it that it is more for show, and it doesn’t really bother you behind the scenes, but I know from experience it is not easy to not take your work home with you. You are very much appreciated for all you do in the spoiler world and for women in general.

Comment: A lot of it is repeating myself because you have to understand, not everybody listens every day. I guarantee every day someone new is hearing something I’ve said previous for the first time. That’s just what I was always taught in radio. Yes, if you’re a loyal listener, you’ve probably heard me say the same things numerous times on different podcasts. But someone is always listening for the first time.
The people who complain about spoilers will never be happy. No matter what I do, they’ll find a way to nit pick. That says more about them.

I love your podcast. I listen to it everyday at the gym and I feel that it is the perfect pace and amount of time I need to get my bachelor updates. I don’t even watch the show that often anymore!
My first question is actually more of a comment on a podcast you did a few weeks ago about Amy and Tj’s fight around going to bed at the same time. I know you were wondering if that is a thing or something that is needed in a relationship. So first of all, I am married and my husband I go to bed at different times every night and it doesn’t bother me at all.
Second, I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, and I tell my couples that I see for counseling, it is only a problem if one member of the couple sees it as an issue. So if you were going to date someone and this conversation came up, as long as they were fine with going to bed at separate times, it may never be an issue. It sounds like Amy wants to go to bed at the same time, or maybe when they don’t it makes it hard for her to sleep, so they do need to come to some sort of compromise. Just my two cents. And considering it seems like these two can’t agree on anything and air their grievances out on a weekly basis, who knows if that’ll ever get cleared up.
My actual question was during the premiere of Joey’s season, it looks like the blurred out the Canadian flag that one of the women brought. Any reason why they would need to do that?
Comment: Yeah apparently you have to get clearance from the Canadian govt to use their flag for commercial use. So either they were denied or they never asked. That Sam girl on BIP had it on her bikini bottom all summer during her BIP open intro, and that wasn’t blurred out. So I’m not sure what happened this time around.

I was a fan of Lost while it was airing and agree with you it’s in my top favorite shows. Several years ago I watched Friday Night Lights after hearing you talk about that too, and I really enjoyed it, and agreed with your perspective on the marriage of Coach Taylor and his wife. But it was only recently I decided to give 24 a try, knowing it was your other favorite show, and immediately got hooked. Every episode is so suspenseful, and my partner and I had fun yelling and laughing at Kim in the first few seasons about her poor decisions. I didn’t realize characters and story arcs would flow into each season, and I also don’t think I’ve seen a show that kills off so many characters. It is brutal! Just you wait…
I’m writing to say thank you for your spot on recommendations/endorsements of these shows (I also was a big 90210 fan watching it as it aired – I’ve laughed many times hearing your retellings and opinions) and also I’m curious which is your favorite 24 season? We’re currently about halfway through season 4. Jack Bauer is such an epic character to root for.
Comment: Well, if you ask die hard 24 fans, I think the general consensus is season 5 is the best season. It’s the season it won an Emmy for Best Director and Keifer won for Best Actor. For me, I thought it was the best as well. So many wow moments including right from the jump, the story flowed, it made sense, had a crazy ass twist a little over halfway through the season, and it had an incredible ending.
If I had to rank them it’d be impossible other than season 5 and season 2 were my favorites. I’ve always said the back half of season 3 after they come back from Mexico I’d put up against any 12 hour stretch in the show. It’s really one of a kind and there’s a reason why no one has ever tried that format before or after. It’s hard to do. When you have to account for every minute of the day, you’re gonna have some lower storylines that just aren’t gonna hit with the audience. Like most stuff involving Kim. But those top end storylines are always great. And Jack Bauer is an iconic character in TV history. He’s top 10 for me, but I’m biased.

I’ve been listening to you for years and I still never understand your schedule for when you answer reader emails but I’m pretty sure you said one is coming up and if I missed it, no worries, perhaps you can save it for the next one.
My first question: Jesse said to Joey that he was “making history” by having the most women ever with 32. Is that true? I feel like Chris Souls season had 30 and then later in the night added 5 more? Also the average is 30, right? So 32 doesn’t seem like anything worth mentioning.
My second and more fun question: In the book “One to Watch”, I’m sure you remember, there was a Reality Steve spoiler character that the producers got around by filming and airing episodes within a week. Have you ever thought about if, for some crazy reason, The Bachelor changed their filming schedule to air within a week how would that change your life and if you’d be able to spoil still?
Comment: I’ll answer your second question first. The Bachelor will never change the way they film their show. This show is made in post-production, so, I’m not worried about that ever happening.

Gosh, I realized we were actually in Season 5 already and now almost done with it! I also had wanted to say how fun it’s been to see Lost actors in roles on 24, and I wondered if you knew anything about that, like did the 2 shows share producers or something who would have wanted to use some of the same actors for both shows?
Comment: This is a follow up from last weeks email that said they just started watching 24 and are ripping through it. Nope, not same producers but both shows were on Fox, so I think that had something to do with it. Kinda like how there was a lot of The OC/24 crossover. And going further back, a lot of people who once appeared on Beverly Hills 90210 also appeared in some roles on 24. There were plenty of other Fox shows that people from 24 came from or were on after their 24 stint – most likely because they were killed off.

You were speaking about Hugh Hefner on the Daily Podcast. Have you seen the allegations against Vince McMahon? I always suspected he had affairs but this level of depravity is surprising. I mean, if you watched WWE during the Attitude Era, Vince McMahon was basically living out his private life on TV. He was just able to get away with it because he could just claim it was TV. We know now it wasn’t. There had always been rumblings. He’s a known philanderer. But yeah, the level of perversity is pretty bad.
Alyssa Milano has been criticized by some for starting a $10k GoFundMe for her son’s baseball team instead of just writing a check. Do you see anything wrong with it? I’ve only read the headline so I don’t know enough about the story, so not well versed in what it’s all about. On the surface, no. Because nobody’s forced to donate anything.
With 3 huge defamation suits in the recent past (Trump, Rudy Giuliani and Fox News), it would seem like an obvious legal approach for Clayton if he wanted to destroy Laura Owens. I doubt she has enough money to make it worthwhile and Clayton may be too nice a guy to do it. If she does not issue a statement of apology and admit lying, I think he has no choice. Yeah trust me. I’d love for him to. She deserves to suffer consequences for what she’s done. And so far, it’s been nothing. And the biggest mystery through all this is how she’s covered all her legal expenses up to this point. Especially considering how many different lawyers she’s hired.
After your bout with Covid (get well soon!), are you going to pull an Aaron Rogers and tell people you are “immunized”? Ha ha, yeah. That’ll rile them up. I got my shots when I was supposed to and had been diligent with them – except for 2023. Only got my flu shot last year. With that said, I’m pretty much on the mend and this started with a sore throat Saturday morning. Sooooo, needless to say I’ve had it pretty mild. Thankful for that.
Apologies if this is a sensitive topic, but in last week’s reader email, some clown seemed to hint that there is a connection between your niece and someone related to one of the women on this season of The Bachelor. I’m assuming it is some nonsense from the anti RS people on Reddit. What is the theory/BS they are spewing? Ha ha, well I laid it out for everyone in yesterday’s podcast and column. No need to lie.
Bachelor / The Challenge – in terms of appearance, which woman from each show this season is most attractive to you? I’ve gotten out of this game in recent years because people automatically assume whoever I say is some sort of slight against someone else and what not. I do think this is one of the most attractive casts they’ve had. When it comes to the Challenge? Hmmmmmm…Colleen? Moriah?

(1) do Bachelor and Bachelorette have the same one-drink-per-hour rule as they have on BIP? If so, how come there are girls so drunk (specifically on night one, but also during subsequent rose ceremony nights)? I get that it’s a long night and that some of these girls are very petite, but according to many legitimate medical resources, the body metabolizes about one drink per hour. Do a lot of them have glassy eyes and are slurring just because they’re tired since (especially in the beginning) the rose ceremonies go until the wee hours of the morning? Or are they indeed drunk? I think it’s 2 drinks per hour. And yes, I think them being petite definitely adds to it, but it’s moreso the long night and being tired.
(2) per what you usually say ‘at least half of these girls will end up on BIP at some point’ so it’s not hard to take a guess as to who will be on and know there’s a good chance you’ll be correct. But is it just me, or is it not only getting easier to predict who will be on Paradise and even what “character” or “storyline” they will play on BIP? Like certainly Allison and Lauren will both be on and there will be a storyline about Lauren feeling like everyone is going for Allison over her (or at least producers will push/edit that storyline on BIP). Maria will probably be there and be “first sand” and/or the “hot commodity” since she was F3. Yeah this show has a formula. Then again, as I reported a couple months ago, from everything I hear they’re filming Golden Bachelorette after filming Bachelorette from March to May. And Sayulita has been bought out by a Canadian company, so if there’s even a BIP this year, it won’t be at the same resort we know it as. No official announcement has been made. And are they really gonna push back BIP filming to July/August? Time will tell. I was told no BIP this season.
(3) Appreciate you addressing your niece and Daisy’s sister’s relationship— though I wasn’t one of the trolls that ever thought that’s how you got your spoiler. All that being said, I think it would be interesting down the line to have your niece and Adeline on your podcast— not to discuss just the show or to address anything about your spoilers. But to hear from Adeline what it’s like to have a sister on the Bachelor (and to be the winner), and to hear more about yours and Olivia’s relationship and what she thinks about her Uncle Steve’s job (if her friends ever ask her about it, etc). I just think it would be an interesting podcast because you’ve never had a family member of a contestant on the podcast and I’d love to hear how they feel about it. And I think Olivia would be interesting just because it’s clear you are very close. It’s certainly possible down the line. Back in the day when I did live Thursday Night Q&A’s on video, I used to put Olivia and my nephew on for the last 10 minutes to answer questions that had nothing to do with the show.
There will be some people who might be able to ask Adeline themselves. Because according to Olivia, Adeline is coming with her and their other roommates to the Fan Appreciation Party in Vegas this year.
