The Bachelor 28 - Joey

The “Bachelor” Joey – Episode 4 & 5 Thoughts, Golden Bachelorette is Coming, & @BachelorData Shows Ratings are Improving This Season

what do these mean?

the internet say ITM means “In the money.” Does it mean “in the moment?” Yes. In the moment. It’s when you see a 1-on-1 date, then you get one of the people standing to the side, or even back in a room talking about their feelings. They have to respond how they felt “in the moment.” Other shows call them confessionals, but I’ve always used ITMs.

And what or who is ASKN? don’t make me go back and re-watch the first 2 episodes

Comment: That’s from Golden Bachelor. April, Susan, Kathy, and Nancy. First letter of each of their name. They were the closest friend group on the show so that’s what they named themselves. Unfortunately, not anymore.

Hey Steve!

Question – what is the history of the 2/1 with contestants… are there any that have made it to the finale? Or any that have made it further along, besides Maria of course. I don’t remember a contestant being on the 2 on 1 date and making past many more episodes.

Just had a thought while watching tonight’s episode!!! Keep up the great work!!!

Comment: Nobody who’s ever been on a 2-on-1 has ever won. Well, Vienna did actually. But that was when the show was different. No one has ever been on a 2-on-1 and became Bachelorette besides Ashley Hebert, but that seasons they put her on the date with her BFF, Ashley Spivey. So it wasn’t drama between the two. Those are the basics when it comes to the 2-on-1. And past leads have said, they’d never want their final choice being put on a 2-on-1 because would never want to put them through that. Says a lot.

Hey Steve! Just gonna jump right into it…

1. Do you know if Joey was really in between Kelsey and Daisy or was it always Daisy and producers then just made whatever decision was best for the show? Meaning, did they push for him to not keep Maria past the final four so she could definitely make it to the Women Tell All so they would have the Sydney vs. Maria drama to talk about there? Not sure what or if any other drama happens the rest of the season, but so far, it seems like this is the only thing worthy of being discussed. I don’t know.

2. I’m a pretty online person and feel like I see most things and so of course I saw the many tweets and tik toks made about this season so far, which made me actually tune in! Something I haven’t done since Matt James season! I find Joey attractive and apparently so does everyone else. Do you think that’s the number one reason for the sudden jump in viewership and more people, especially younger people, being interested again, that the lead is this universally attractive person? Because I feel like I see endless tik toks every tuesday and throughout the week about it, something I don’t recall seeing for the past few seasons that Tik Tok has been big. I thought the show was still being watched enough to keep going, but definitely wasn’t this big thing anymore judging by the way the leads and even the girls/guys on the show didn’t get as big of a following on social media as seasons past. Wondering what you think it is? Well, looks are completely subjective. So it’s impossible to say that’s the reason. He was definitely well-liked from Charity’s season and maybe it was because Charity just didn’t have other options that would’ve made sense in her top 4. So this was a guy the audience wanted and pretty much knew could get it.

3. Am I the only person who feels for Sydney? Clearly, she started this whole thing and got it wrong, but feels like it’s also the producers pushing her to keep it going/act this way by feeding her information? Sure I’m Team Maria if I had to pick, but def seems like it’s the dumbest fight ever that it seems so producer driven. Sydney just seems more angry and has such a dislike for Maria that doesn’t really make sense so feels like we’re missing something.

Comment: Sydney could’ve handled herself better on the show and maybe said things differently, but she doesn’t deserve the hate she’s getting. None of these women do. Lea was taking it bad yesterday. Yeah, she screwed up. Didn’t come across well at all on Monday. But the punishment isn’t fitting the crime so to speak.

Hi Steve! A few questions/comments this week…

1. Did Sydney just let the pressure get to her? Are we not seeing everything? Has this whole thing escalated because of producers? Sydney’s distaste towards Maria seems very confusing and kind of surprising. She feels so confident telling Joey that Maria isn’t the girl for him because of how she is and I don’t think it really matches what we’ve seen from Maria. Also, if history has shown us, the person who brings up another girl being a “problem” in the house, they’re usually the one to go. Has she not seen the show? Did producers really just get to her and made it seem like she was in the right this whole time? It’s all so confusing. Producers are really good at their jobs. Always remember that.

2. I know you said you don’t feel the need to watch earlier seasons of Vanderpump Rules but oh man, the first few seasons were the best. You have to! Jax, Stassi, Kristen… those are some of the best reality show characters of all time! The first season is short so hopefully that persuades you a bit and gets you hooked enough to keep watching from there!

Comment: It’d take a lot for me to want to go back that far. I just don’t have the time.

What did you think of Travis Kelce body checking his coach and yelling in his face? Apparently he’s been hotheaded and had tantrums this season. Haven’t heard you mention it yet

Comment: If you’re asking do I think Taylor should be worried, my answer is no. This isn’t defending yelling at your coach, but for people that don’t watch football, this happens ALL THE TIME. The bump was unnecessary. But you can’t compare the emotions that rise in the heat of the battle in the biggest game of the year in the most watched TV show in the history of television and relate that to something in a relationship. I’m sorry, then almost every athlete you might as well paint guilty as having a temper, a screamer, an abuser, whatever. Tom Brady did it. Payton Manning did it. There’s clips all over the internet of those guys absolutely losing their shit on their teammates during games. Kelce just happened to do it in a one-off game that’s the most watched ever. Was it good look? No. But if we’re going to immediately make him guilty for how he might act in a relationship, that’s wrong to assume.

I watched Tracker, I wanted to give it a big thumbs up because it got a terrible time slot when the game went into overtime. And for your readers who are probably mostly women they do us right and show gratuitously topless Justin Hartley in the first 15 minutes. It has a good original storyline if you want to take on something new and you are missing that One of Us actor in your life, I was lol.

Comment: Yup. I watched it. It’s set for recording every week. I liked it. And yeah, I’ve always had a man crush on Justin Hartley ever since he was on Smallville as the Green Arrow.

Hi Steve –

On April Fool’s Day, do you think your niece will tell you that she and her roommate are going on the Vile Files? She wouldn’t have the first clue what that even is ha ha.

One of the “horrible” things Maria allegedly did was tell Lea to shut the fuck up. Ironically, I think Madina was on the verge of saying the same thing to Lea and I doubt I was the only viewer thinking it. I don’t think you were either.

To me, the weird thing about the Maria – Sydney battle is that the show has a rich history of showing the villains saying bad things in ITMs or to other contestants. So far, they have not done this to Maria. It makes me wonder if Maria is “innocent” and Sydney is out of her mind or if Maria is “guilty” and the show decided it was better entertainment to make Sydney look crazy with all her talk of torture. One thing I do know is that they’ve absolutely had footage of things in the past that they left out for whatever reason. Remember Rachel and Vanessa’s argument in Bimini that was never shown? I’d say that was a pretty big thing they just chose not to put in the show.

Big twist this season that was a big nothingburger: the sisters.

Comment: Yup. An absolute nothing bomb. Outside of the first episode, not remotely interesting.
