So I mentioned on Monday in my video, I showed you the Instagram message that Devin sent a friend of the victim when this was all going down, I believe the exact date on it was April either 17th or the 22nd, I believe April 22nd, 2017.
This friend of the victim is a gay man and Devin had a lot of hate speech, homophobic slurs in there. And that was put out. That kind of got the ball rolling lat end of last week on all of this. Well, that man who wishes to remain anonymous because. He doesn’t need his name out there. Put out something on social media last night.
I’m going to read it to you, but I will also post this on my Instagram story later on today, after this goes up. And I’m not going to include obviously the name of this individual, but saw this on his social media last night and figured I would pass it along. Going to read it straight through. In the spring of 2017, Devin Strader was issued a temporary restraining order following multiple instances of abuse against my friend.
This year, he made the bizarre decision to appear on The Bachelorette, despite his well documented history of violence. After his troubling onscreen behavior, the public uncovered his arrest record, including the restraining order. Yesterday, Devin attempted to discredit his ex girlfriend and denied the existence of the restraining order, despite clear public records to the contrary.
I refuse to stand by as he continues to malign somebody I care about, especially after the pain he caused seven years ago. In April 2017, while repeatedly violating the restraining order, Devin made threats against the ex girlfriend’s friends and family. I received disturbing messages from him filled with homophobic slurs and threats of violence His recent attempt to manipulate the narrative is exactly what he did in 2017 while stalking his ex girlfriend Burglarizing her home burning the restraining order in her yard slashing her tire And intimidating her friends and family.
Devin’s decision to go on a national television, go on national television has forced his victim to revisit a traumatic chapter in her life. In a public forum, I will not allow his arrogance and refusal to take responsibility, inflict further harm on someone I care about. Devin is a dangerous individual.
And a pathological liar. I’d say that’s a pretty powerful statement coming from a friend of the victim. The victim herself has not said anything. I don’t think she will. At this point, the story has been out for four days, totally understandable that she wouldn’t, like I said, I contacted her over the weekend to let her know I was in possession of the Documents and that I was going to post them and she read the messages, didn’t get back to me totally fine because like I said, I’m not trying to diminish what happened to her, but I didn’t want to make this story about her.
This story is about Devin and his actions and the show’s lack of reaction to even knowing about this story. That’s why it’s out there. The documents were public record. That’s why I reported the story. And I wanted to basically make it an indictment against the show for being so horrible that yet another contestant who had this in his past from seven years ago, somehow it was overlooked in the vetting process.
Whereas so many people in the legal field have messaged me since Monday and said, this was easy to find. They just didn’t do their due diligence. They chose to either turn a blind eye. Or they’re just so lackadaisical with their vetting process that they missed it. But they said no company that does anything in regards to background checks shouldn’t have been able to pull this up.
Hell, even a basic one shows there was a burglary there. Now, remember one of the outlets yesterday, I believe it was deadline had the information that we hadn’t really known. And we hadn’t heard yet that. Apparently, they did confront Devin about what was this burglary about, and Devin told them a different story.
Again, that’s fine. Which means they knew about the burglary. One, they certainly didn’t dig into it any deeper or else they would have found this paperwork that I was able to get. And two, what’d they do? Just sit there and be like, Oh, well, Devin told us it was no big deal. We’re good. Let’s move forward.
Put them on the show. That’s what I mean. They didn’t do their due diligence twice. Essentially, you’re just going to take your contestant’s word for it. That shouldn’t be how it works in the interview process. So if they did confront him about the burglary, like debt, a deadline per put in their story the other day, they did confront him about it and he was like, Oh yeah, that’s, that was way blown out of proportion seemingly.
It looks like they were like, Oh, okay. We believe you. That’s not how it should have been handled. These are public documents. I can’t stress that enough that if I was able to get my hands on them. Certainly a company that does background checks for a very, very popular reality dating show. One that’s been on the air for over 20 years and one that has had numerous problematic contestants in the past that was trying to turn the page and turn over a new leaf and become better with their casting three months after an expose was done on them by the LA times.
And then this happens, this is what I mean, the show needed to be called out for what they did. We don’t need if Devin keeps talking and keeps releasing statements. I don’t know. I’m not her. Maybe she’ll finally say something. Maybe this guy will piss her off so much, but from everything that I’m hearing, I don’t think that first of all, I don’t think she’s going to come forward, nor does she need to, but if she did, I guarantee he would be even in a bigger world of hurt than he already is.
Because we saw the paperwork. We saw what he did to her. If you honestly think she just made all that up, I don’t know what to tell you. Everything that I’ve heard from back in May when it was first told to me by somebody that said, oh yeah, he burned it in her driveway. And it ended up being true. But again, back then I didn’t have any proof.
So to hear it all now, and then to hear her friend come to her defense yesterday, or technically last night, whatever you want to call it with that social media post, I just. I don’t see how you can side with Devin. And yes, there are the trolls out there that are like, this was seven years ago. Leave him alone.
Like you already know my thoughts on that. I don’t care if it was 10 years ago, 15 years ago. The point is he had a temporary restraining order taken out against him. And you cannot be a contestant on this show. It literally says it in the contract. You can’t be a contestant if you’ve had a restraining order taken out against you.
Period. End of story. And the way that he is just using semantics in that statement to make it seem like restraining order was dismissed. It was never granted. It is just so typical, seemingly of this guy who just cannot admit fault in anything and puts the blame on others. I read you Devin statement. Did he seem, did he seem remorseful at all in any of that?
And you’re going to say, well, he’s trying to defend himself, but we have seen the paperwork. How about actually going down each and everything in those documents? And telling us what actually happened, but just to generically say, nope, never happened, these were misconstrued. I sorry, you lose the benefit of the doubt with the way that you’ve acted on the show, the way that you acted on after the final rose, the way that you’ve acted with your 13 minute video, which you said was a lapse in judgment.
He doesn’t understand. If he’s going to come out and dispute this, you need to be way more detailed than a three paragraph Instagram story. That’s going to be gone by today because it only stays up for 24 hours. Talk about crisis management. One Oh one, Devin gets an F and whoever is advising him gets an F minus.
This has been embarrassing, really, but I’m glad that her friends spoke up in her defense. Last night. Glad I was able to read it to you. Like I said, I’m going to post it so you can see it on my Instagram story today. So thank you again for all listening. I know this is, I know this is getting tiresome, but obviously if Devin releases a statement, we’re going to cover it.
It’s the biggest story in bachelor nation right now. So thank you all for listening. I appreciate it. Please follow me on Apple podcasts rate and review if you can. But you got to hit play. It’s the only way it counts as a download. Had some really good download numbers this week. Again, thank you all for tuning in.
