Hey Steve,
Hope you’re well and aren’t getting too much hate mail from the ‘Peter and Rachel 4eva’ crazies who no doubt don’t believe your new spoiler. Although I’m sad that she clearly doesn’t want adorable gap-toothed children with Peter in the future, here’s hoping he’s now a front-runner for Bachelor.
I’m an Australian reader/ viewer and wish we had someone like you to the spoil the Aussie version. I know you’ve said in the past you have no interest in watching the Aus Bachelor/ette at all, but I would just be interested to hear your thoughts if you ever watch in the future, if you could see the difference between the two countries versions.
In Australia there is no engagement – yes, you go on to find love, but it’s more a promise of commitment at the end to date and explore your feelings without the pressure of an engagement, which I think is a lot more realistic. Our first Bachelor and his winner (from 2013) just got engaged, and another Bachelor and winner are engaged and are expecting a child together. I definitely feel that our version is more authentic and set-up to find lasting love (for example the producers ask the lead what their type is before the show so they can cast specific people). But that’s just my opinion. Sure sounds like it is.
Anyway – a rumour floating around some Australian media is that a couple of our former contestants have been approached by the US producers to partake in BIP. Have you heard anything about this at all? I saw on the weekend one of the guys the media said was approached (Samuel Johnston) had done an insta-story in LA and he hasn’t posted since, so my interest is definitely piqued if he’s been flown down to Mexico.
Anyway. Love the spoilers, and love the podcasts (please bring on Ashley I if you have a chance!).
Thanks Steve! Byyeeeeee
Comment: I haven’t heard that particular rumor about it being former Australian contestants. I did hear the rumors that they may bring in some people who aren’t former contestants on the US show. So I guess it’s still a possibility. But they definitely aren’t in the original cast. And unless whoever they bring on from that show has already moved to the U.S. or is making plans to, I don’t see the appeal of bringing contestants on who live on the other side of the world. What does that do for the US version? Nobody knows them.

Hey Steve. I am a huge fan of yours and love to read your spoilers regarding the bachelor and bachelorette series and getting to know who the winner is beforehand. Concerning Rachel’s season, I know that you have stated that the final winner has been switched from Peter to Bryan, but after watching some interviews that Rachel has done post-show and talking about how she is engaged and how she knew her fiancé was the one, I have a feeling that Peter and Bryan may not be the winners. In many interviews including this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJ3sXHuLRaI
She kept emphasizing how her fiancé was a late bloomer and how she never would have thought he was the one. She also stated about going back and forth with her feelings for him and that the viewers have to watch the journey because it is unexpected. As you can probably see from the show already, Peter and Bryan are definitely not late bloomers and her feelings for both of them didn’t come until later, but almost immediately. I don’t know if it is just an act to throw people off the obvious fact that she is engaged to someone that had so much air time like Peter or Brian, but based on what she has said from those interviews and her final four, I have a feeling that Eric may be the one that wins the show. It just seems like the only thing that checks out with the story she has given post-show. I am not sure who your sources are, but if you can somehow look into it and tell me that I am completely wrong and that Bryan is the winner, that would be great, because Eric is definitely not my favorite!
Comment: I don’t know what else to tell ya’. She’s not engaged to Eric. Or Peter. She’s engaged to Bryan.

Hi Steve,
Or should we from now on refer to you by your new moniker—The Dream Shatterer? Haha!
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but never have I wanted a spoiler to be wrong as much as now.
Don’t get me wrong, I love your spoilers—I’ve been a faithful reader since Jason’s season, but this time around, I hope something comes up and she does end up with Peter after all.
I usually don’t get emotionally invested in the show, or who the lead chooses, but somehow I’ve taken a liking to Rachel, and I’ve been rooting for her ever since she was named the next Bachelorette.
I think the reason why I’m taking it more seriously this season is because she seems serious and sincere about finding a husband at this stage in her life—or at least, that’s the impression I get. In terms of seriousness and sincerity, I put her up there with Sean Lowe.
Maybe your first spoiler influenced the way people felt and still feel about Peter, and got everybody swept up in a fantasy world of Peter + Rachel and their tooth-gapped babies, but Bryan just rubs me the wrong way. I’m not getting good vibes from him at all. He doesn’t strike me as someone who’s sincerely intentional about falling in love, much less getting married. He’s good with his hands—and his mouth. Good for him, but I don’t see their relationship last just based on that. Ughhh, I hope your spoiler is wrong.
Comment: Another person not getting good vibes from Bryan. I don’t necessarily see it yet, but it’s still early. Unfortunately, you’re gonna have to get used to it.

Hi Steve,
I just get a little confused sometimes. Don’t you think that if Nick is desperate to stay relevant and popular, his best chance at that would be to stay with Vanessa? Don’t you think he is more likely to be well-liked if he is in the relationship as opposed to single? I just can’t tell where this guy’s head is at. (Especially at his ripening age, damn)
Comment: Well, they’re still together if that’s worth anything. They haven’t broken up. Sure, it helps to stay in the relationship, but if they end up breaking up don’t be surprised. Nick may be vain, but I can’t imagine he’ll stay with someone and marry them just to spite people and hope that people like him.

Hey Steve I’ve noticed recently in Carly’s instagram stories that her in Evan are currently in LA although Bachelor in Paradise filming has already begun. I noticed she was at a watch party last night with Ashley I. and Lace. Does her being in LA have anything to do with her sorting out details for her wedding in Paradise? At what point throughout filming are they gonna be down there to film the wedding? Are those two some along with other former cast members from last season of Paradise the kind of Alum we can expect to be down there for the wedding? Who else from the franchise will be there in attendance?
Comment: Wedding is on June 17th, which is a few days before filming ends.
I would expect there will be quite a few alumni that head down there during that time. You’ll know because I’m sure they’ll be sharing it on social media.

Hello Steve,
Long time reader, first time writer.
I think that Peter looks like Brandon Walsh from 90210 circa 1992-3? Thoughts? It’s all I see whenever he’s on camera.
Keep up the spoiling and snarky commentary, it makes my day!
Comment: Like the first couple seasons of 90210 when Brandon had the front tooth gap fresh off the Walsh family move from Minnesota before he got insanely popular and bought himself new chicklets? Yeah, I can see it.

Hi Steve,
Besides the whole Samantha/Joe situation, were any of last season’s BIP cast members talking/ making agreements between each other, coming in while they had a significant other at home or just doing anything sketchy before filming? Since so many are doing that this season, wondering how much of that happened last year.
Thanks!
Comment: Gosh, I already forgot most of the cast from last season. I can’t remember off hand but I’m sure there were.

Hey Steve,
Love your page. I always look forward to reading it. I am a little bummed that Peter isn’t the winner after all but, like others have said, at least there is a chance he could be the next Bachelor.
Anyhow, I was reading your most recent post where you mention Mike Fleiss being shady to Pete and Cassie. Can you say more? I’m guessing you talked about it in another post at some point but I must have missed it. I didn’t realize Pete and Cassie are not part of the bachelor stuff anymore?
Comment: Cassie went and did that other dating show on Fox. Can’t remember what the name of it was but it aired last summer. I think it got cancelled. And Fleiss sent a tweet out on premiere night of that show that mentioned backstabbers or traitors, which he quickly deleted. I’m pretty sure that was a shot at Cassie. I can’t see what else it could’ve been about. It was pretty random.
Then I heard Pete on a podcast with Juliet Litman and just by the way he was talking, I got the impression them not working on the show anymore was an amicable split. I could be totally wrong. That’s just the impression I got.

Hi Steve,
I know you have talked about this in the past but with all of the info., a person forgets. How much would you say the contestants make per episode on Paradise. Specifically, would you have an idea of how much Amanda would make per episode? Thanks!
It’s different for each contestant. Some are paid I think $400 for every day they’re gone, and some are paid a flat rate. But they’ll never really go public with what they made, so it’s tough to say.

Hey Steve,
Loyal reader from your very beginning. What do you think that Rachel’s end game is? IMO she’s the best Bachelorette the show has had (Kaitlyn and Jillian are runners-up). She seems really sincere, but you have trained me well so I’m cynical. TV career? I can’t see her as an Insta shiller, but who knows.
Also, re the no date card for Anthony. I’m thinking the edit process on the Bachelorette is so short that the editors have no time to get everything in.
Comment: As far as what I’ve heard, she’s going back to her legal job. She’s been back for a week now and I don’t thinks he has any plans on leaving. Sure, she still might shill a bit for products just because that’s extra money, but she’s not leaving her career to sell gummy bear hair.

Hi Steve,
First of all, I wanted to let you know that I have really enjoyed your podcasts. There have been guests like Courtney and Sharleen that I knew I would enjoy listening to. Last week when you announced Lesley I had no idea how much I would enjoy hearing her story, but I think that ended up being one of my favorite interviews yet. Can’t wait for more!!! Thanks. I’m enjoying them as well. Learning more than I thought I would. Tomorrow’s is gonna be a good one as well.
Secondly, this whole story with Lee and his social media history seems very reminiscent of UnReal when they cast the confederate flag bikini girl with the African American bachelor. I know Chris H. denies they knew about his social media posts, but do you think it’s possible they cast him because of his comments in hopes to create controversy?
Thanks again for your blog and podcasts- they are the only reason I pay attention to this silly show.
Comment: I don’t wanna say yes to that for the sole reason that it’d be unfairly possibly criticizing them for something I have no idea about. Do I think it’s possible they really never bothered to look through Lee’s tweets? I guess. But that’s a glaring mistake and one I bet they don’t make in the future. Lee has set a precedent, because now you know whoever they cast in the future, fans/media will be looking to find dirt in old tweets. So ABC has no excuse from this point forward.
