The Bachelorette 16 - Clare

The “Bachelorette” Clare – Episode 1 Recap, Ratings, Yosef, & Luke Parker Thoughts

-When Dale and Clare spoke at the cocktail party, if you compared it to everyone else she had a convo with, you could tell it was different. For months everyone asked how could Clare fall so early for Dale, and I kept telling everyone at least wait until the show airs and we see it before you form an opinion. I think we’re seeing it play out. Clearly she already had him built up in her head pre-show from peeping his social media, but to see her react the way she did once she finally met him in person, whether it’s because she wanted it to work so bad or not, you could tell it was ballgame the second he arrived. For those asking, “Doesn’t this set a bad precedent? Why won’t any other lead be allowed to leave?” You gotta remember that Clare had 4 months to scope out anything Dale did on social media beforehand. None of the previous 39 leads before her did, and unless a pandemic shuts production days before it’s supposed to start again, none will in the future. Yeah, I’m sure JoJo and Becca and Andi, and whoever else were attracted to their guys immediately the first night. And maybe they had it in their head they were a front runner. But none of those women knew anything about their guys. That night out of the limo was their first look at seeing their face, knowing their name, and what they were about. You have FOUR MONTHS to look at someone’s social media posts and dig online about them, Clare absolutely knew way more about Dale going in, which is what makes it different than a lead who their favorites night one.

-Also for a first episode, they didn’t show much interaction of her at the cocktail party with other men. In terms of actually showing us her spending a decent amount of time with them. We had the Tyler/Yosef drama which Tyler says he was told by a mutual friend that Yosef was DM’ing another girl during quarantine and sending pics/videos. Already gave you my thoughts on this on page 1. You can’t tell these guys not to live their life during the shutdown when they had no idea if there would even be a season. I mean, does he even at least get SOME credit for ghosting her once he realized he was going back on the show? Because that’s what happened. Probably could’ve handled it better, but from what I’ve heard, he was talking to numerous women, he’s always been kind of a man whore, and this is just what Yosef does. Not to mention coming back from the show and pretending he’s Mr. Innocent. Like I said, he’ll show his true colors in the weeks coming. Actually, I think it’s next week where the blow up happens.

-The only other guy they really showed Clare spending much quality time with at the cocktail party was Blake Moynes. Clare tells him during quarantine, he actually reached out to her when she was feeling down and that broke the rules. But she appreciated it because she needed it at the time. I thought this was important for one major reason, and that’s people (including the media sites that jumped all over it with their click bait headlines) who said Clare and Dale were speaking and had a relationship pre-show. I highly doubt she would’ve told Blake that on the show, and even mentioned anything about breaking rules and contacting during quarantine, if she was doing the exact same thing herself. Hell, the fact that they DID show and admit Blake contacted her over break shows it wasn’t taboo to talk about, so if Clare and Dale were, they would’ve just leaned into it. I just don’t think the risk would’ve been worth it to either of them. As I reported this summer when every other outlet was reporting the opposite, no, there was no contact pre-show between Dale and Clare. Btw, have ANY of those sites retracted their statements? Of course not.

-Clare gave Dale the first impression rose in case you didn’t know. And oh yeah, Clare likes Dale. Good chance he’s the front runner. Also, probably, maybe, they are going to be sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g at some point. Just a hunch I have. Hell, haven’t we see a daytime shot of Dale and Clare in bed together in the promos? Yes, we have. Well considering we know Clare only lasts a few episodes and she doesn’t have normal overnight dates, they’re basically giving it away she’s with Dale. Last night was even our first look at Chris Harrison standing there while a limo pulled up, which we know now to be Tayshia. It’s the first we’ve seen of them even acknowledging a second “Bachelorette” without technically acknowledging it in the media, in writing, or in interviews. This whole season is just wonky.

-Rose ceremony time. Dale is safe with a rose. Seemingly forever and ever and ever. Clare: “So thankful for all of you showing up tonight, especially Dale…long night, Dale are you ok?…feel like my husband is in this room and his name is Dale…if I didn’t get to have a conversation with you tonight, I’m sorry, I was probably with Dale…this is such a hard choice for me, not really, because Dale…”

Blake Moynes, Easy, Ben, Riley, Zach J, Tyler S., Joe, Jason, Demar, Chasen, Jordan C., Blake Monar, Kenny, Brendan, Garin, Ed, Bennett, Zac C., Jay, Brandon, Ivan get roses.

“Clare, gentleman, it’s the final rose tonight. When you’re ready. Do you realize how many rounds of golf I played at La Quinta with my new Callaway Mavrik irons? Not to mention how many rounds I’ll be playing at Nemacolin? This is heaven. They pay me for this? Can I go to jail for stealing money?”

Yosef gets the final rose because, well, they needed drama.

As mentioned in the spoilers, in the next two rose ceremonies, these guys go home. I just don’t know which rose ceremony they go home in: Tyler Smith, Garin Flowers, Brandon Goss, Blake Manor, Jordan Chapman, and Zach Jackson. Yosef also goes home but he’s eliminated before the rose ceremony.

Last night confirmed what we all already knew–Clare got issues. Yeah she is very beautiful, but she is also very off. Crazy eyes, weird speaking cadence, and just a bit unhinged. Gonna make for some solid episodes if they let it play out and don;t hide it.

Speak for yourself “crushon..”. Categorizing someone as “having issues” is such an easy take and the most low hanging fruit when it comes to labeling women. I didn’t see Clare’s “crazy eyes” but I see you found lots to dislike including she’s “off” and “unhinged.”

Clare was great. There is no “beautiful, but….” for me.

She really pounced on Dale before he’s even ready to kiss her during the FIR

On one hand, I get having a visceral attraction to someone immediately. We’re wired for that. But, I mean, you go on a dating show known for phonies who want to promote themselves & basically call “game over” after the limo entrances? That’s just bizarre and really wacky. Isn’t Clare the one the show portrayed on BIP, or similar, as talking to a lizard? This is so off the rails. I, for one, am glad that Taysha gets to take over. I don’t think I could handle Clare for the whole season.

I don’t mind Clare, I don’t think she’s crazy, impulsive yes. I would want time to see if the one I liked was trustworthy and not there for the fame etc. I think Taysha will be a great Bachelorette, as far as that role goes.

For the record @Rob22, it was a raccoon not a lizard! Lol Clare said it was a set-up and she was actually speaking to a producer.

As for Luke Parker. I totally understand why he wanted to speak out and defend himself. The franchise has a dire record of setting contestants up and making them look bad. The franchise has changed a lot of contestants lives for the better, but it’s ruined some reputations too, and this shouldn’t be swept under the carpet and ignored. However, I did read his contract expired in July this year, why didn’t he wait till it expired (like all the others do) before speaking out?

On reflection, I’m not sure raccoons exist in Mexico?! …it was a ‘fluffy thing’ Clare was seen speaking to. Lol

Clare is just a bit off to me – she is way too emotional and is so guided by desperation – it’s pretty sad. She is very pretty (although – how much of her is real? not that that really matters I guess) I can’t imagine a man wanting to put up with that level of emotional basket case. I have known guys that get themselves into those situations and end up regretting it massively – but can’t deal with what it would mean to get out of it. Anyway – still silly fun so watch on I will. 🙂 Maybe Clare will end up with the happy emotion. lol

Why was there no mention of her engagement to Benoit? Or does that demonstrate Clare’s history of jumping in without thinking too much?

Oh – I forgot her other engagement. She does jump so quickly – typical of an overly-emotional person.

    > Last night confirmed what we all already knew–Clare got issues.

Yep. I’ve been on the fence about that previously. I mean who is as smoking hot as Clare — look at all that beauty, and 39 never married or no family? Nobody who doesn’t come with a LOT of baggage that is.

    > She really pounced on Dale

Jeez no kidding. I don’t know how RS says they’ve never met before the show and she’s ready to do him right then and there.

I don’t know what y’all think but Tyler C is giving me a Lee Garrett vibe.

Some of these guys need a tailor. Their suit pants look like capris.

Claire doesn’t have “issues” or crazy eyes. That’s what sexist people say about women. If you don’t like her, say you don’t like her, don’t say she’s got “crazy eyes” whatever that means. Half the guys she met had “crazy eyes”.
I hate how men are wearing super short pants now with no socks. It looks almost as ridiculous as rolling around in a bubble.

I’ve never seen one of these shows end early because someone had a contestant picked out almost immediately. That has happened before and they didn’t end the season, so, it’s weird.
