In regards to who the host is going to be at the ATFR, a story came out yesterday about ABC talking to Rachel about hosting, but she wants an open discussion about race on the show. Then you read this article and it Rachel openly speaks about if she really would consider hosting it. Doesn’t sound like she’s 100% sold on it. For what? So people can still jump down her throat for no reason? I mean, she said it herself in that interview. People actually think she did that Extra interview with the intent of stealing Chris’ job from him. Anyone with half a brain can clearly see that wasn’t the case.
That pretty much goes along with the suggestion I gave on my live Thursday with Ashley. There should be a roundtable discussion of only BIPOC contestants, preferably hosted by Rachel, so they can have their weekly audience hear from them directly as to why they have issues with the franchise. Yes, it’s major news online and all over social media. However, the majority of the audience that tunes in on Monday nights does not pay attention to the noise that happens on social media and online during the week. They just don’t. So that’s why you need to take this issue to your TV show that they’re used to watching and address it. It’s the only way to reach a majority of your audience. With the ATFR taping this weekend, any roundtable discussion, and knowing they have to quarantine for a few days beforehand, well, if they haven’t at least contacted them by now, it doesn’t look like it’s happening. But we’ll see.
Mike Johnson and Tayshia Adams both spoke to E! yesterday in a candid interview about what they thought of the Bachelor Nation fan base, being an influencer, and the heat they get for just speaking out on topics. Both made great points that are frankly indisputable. The facts speak for themselves. I will promote @BachelorData on IG til I’m blue in the face, but their info they post every week is fascinating to look at. How they break down followers, screen time, etc all while looking at the grand scheme of things, yeah, it’s clear how white their fanbase is. And Mike even says it in that article: “It’s because we gravitate to that we know, and the audience is predominantly white.” Very good read that I hope you take the time to check out.
Right now, I’m trying to nail down the location for the next “Bachelorette” season. I know the state they’re filming in, but I don’t know the resort just yet. Hopefully I can find that resort in the next couple days. I’m trying to search resorts and see if anyone has cancelled their bookings from March through May. As I reported a couple weeks ago, the Jasper Park Lodge in Canada was the original spot where they were going to film, but due to stricter travel restrictions in Canada, they couldn’t make it work. A Canadian outlet over the weekend reported that the Jasper Park Lodge has reopened their bookings and are no longer blacked out from Feb. 23 to April 30 as they were to be for “Bachelorette” filming. I will keep you updated once I get confirmation on the resort.
I’m sure you’ve all heard the new craze on social media now, and I’m all in. Clubhouse is the new thing to do, which is basically just like a giant Zoom call, but audio only. I’ve been in a couple groups already, and this Thursday at 1:00pmET/10:00amPT I’ll be going live for my “welcome room” party. I’m not sure how to describe it really either, but, I would suggest downloading the Clubhouse app on your phone, and join us on Thursday as we’ll be having a discussion, there will be Bachelor contestants in the room, and we will be taking questions. Olivia Caridi is putting this together, and I guess I’m going to be surprised by who shows up in there. So sign up on Clubhouse, and add me @RealitySteve. I believe then you’ll be notified if you forget that we’re going live on Thursday at 1ET/10PT. You join in, you listen, and if you have a question, there’s a button where you raise your hand, then we can bring people up, you turn your mic on, then talk. It’s a really cool networking tool that absolutely taking off right now. Hope you all can join on Thursday.
