“Reader Emails” & How You Can Be a Part of This Weeks Podcast

Hi Steve,

I have been reading your blog for awhile now and I appreciate everything you do. Reader email and the recaps keep me occupied during my lunch break. Sometimes when I am too busy to watch the actual show, your recap keeps me up to date for the next episode.

A couple questions for you:

1. I love TV so I was wondering if you had any suggestions. I got hooked onto DWTS this season and love the bachelor. Do you have any other reality shows or dramas that you would recommend? Survivor, A Million Little Things (although kinda hard to join right now since it’s in season 3), Shark Tank, I Know What You Did Last Summer, FBoy Island on HBO Max (as well as 12 Dates of Christmas). Those are a few.

2. I am kind of curious about you. Is this your full time job? How did you get started doing this? Why the bachelor and not other shows? Hmmmmm, well you’re new so I guess you wouldn’t know this, but if you go to the “Press” link at the top of the website, I’ve linked to numerous articles written about me where it gives you an idea of how all this came about. Yes, it’s been my full time job since August of 2011, so just passed 10 years. And the podcast is a separate venture that’s become a second income.

3. Clayton. Do you have any insight on why they picked him? It seems like he is barely on Michelle’s season.

Thanks so much!

Comment: I don’t think we’ll ever know because this show is never really transparent about stuff like that.

Hi Steve!

Did you watch Taylor Swift perform the 10-minute version of All Too Well on SNL this past weekend? Fantastic! I know you are a big fan.

Thanks for all you do regarding the Bachelor franchise.

Comment: One of the top 3 all-time musical performances in the history of that show.

WITH THAT SAID, people need to start calming down a bit over this. It’s getting out of hand. I don’t need to see front page headlines on the magazine sites about what Jake was doing this weekend and how he’s handling things. Not to mention the absolute nut jobs blowing up his IG comments. It’s a bit much people. You know I love Taylor more than most 46 year men should, but lets tap the brakes a bit here.

Hey Steve!

Since I know what a realist you are, I want to preface this email by saying that both of these questions are big hypotheticals that I know your first response would be: that would never happen. However, I’m hoping you’ll humor me by answering anyway!

1. If you could ask anyone in bachelor nation history (host, lead, cast member, crew, producer, etc.) one question and be guaranteed an honest answer on the record, who would you ask and what would the question be? Ha ha, did you steal this from the Knowledge is Power Idol on Survivor this year? I’d have to really think long and hard about this one just because there’s SO many things I think people want to know, but you know no one in power would ever be truthful in answering it. But I think whatever the question is, the 4 people who’d be the first 4 on anyone’s list to ask should be (in no particular order): Chris Harrison, Mike Fleiss, Robert Mills, and Elan Gale. Those are the biggest names who know the most tea and most dirt. Any one question would HAVE to start with one of them.

2. If the producers of the bachelor came to you offering you hush money (again, humor me here) to never say/write one word about their series again, would you take it? If so, what would your price be?

Thanks for all you do!

Comment: Absolutely I would. Everyone’s got a price. Mine? Ummmmm, I probably wouldn’t go lower than a few million.

Hey Steve, a couple questions for you. Will you be watching Colton’s documentary on Netflix? Do you think Katie does paradise next season if there is paradise?

Comment: Will I watch every minute of every episode? No. All I care to really hear from him about is what he says about the Cassie situation. But considering she dropped the retraining order filed against him, seemingly for some sort of NDA, I don’t know how much we’re really ever going to find out or what he can actually say about it.

You’d think no, but once Becca went on this past season, all bets are off now. They saw how it worked out for Becca, so any past lead I guess isn’t above it anymore.

Steve,

I am listening to an interesting podcast by Game of Roses where they talk about clips from different podcasts over the last couple of weeks on Patreon.

1. They have a discussion about The US weekly podcast Here for the Right Reasons with guest Jacqueline Trumbull. In this podcast, Jacqueline talks about how the lead doesn’t make the majority of the decisions on the show, the producers do. If the producers want the villain to stay around, the villain stays.

Jacqueline was therefore wondering why Katie and Michelle have been able to send the villains home early when there is clearly more villain edits to be gotten from these men. I thought that was a very interesting question.

Trying to make Katie and Michelle look good (ie:strong and decisive)? But if that is the case why didn’t they do that with other bachelorettes? So many other villains stayed around forever until we got sick of them.

Maybe producers are getting blowback on social media? It’s possible. But as mentioned earlier, she kept Chris S. around and we know she has zero romantic interest in him. And he will cause more drama tonight. So maybe that’s not the case anymore.

What are your thoughts?

2. On a “Bachelor in the City” clip, former Bachelor Peter Weber talks about how he has met some of the women who have just gotten off of Clayton’s season. He says they have given him quite the “tea”. He promised he wouldn’t spill the tea but he says it is quite intense and he will share it at a later date. Pace Case and Bachelor Clues (hosts of Game of Roses) say they can possibly infer by the tone of Peter’s voice that Clayton got a worse edit than him.

Any insight on this Steve?

Comment: Well it was released last night that at Peters book launch in NY were three of Clayton’s women, all ones who got eliminated the first night – Lindsay Rae Dobbs, Samantha Jeffries, and Hailey Malles. So how much does he really know from 3 women who didn’t last past night 1? And I love how he says he won’t release it to protect their identity. Uhhhh, their identity is known now and now we know who which women clearly told him something. Oopsie.

Hi Steve,

This question may have already been asked and answered, but I am a new reader!

When Clare left the Bachelorette to be with Dale, we all saw that Hannah Ann appeared on set for a few days. I noticed that Hannah Ann started to break away from the franchise after Tayshia was announced as the Bachelorette. Is there a chance that Hannah Ann was told she was going to be the Bachelorette and then they chose Tayshia instead?

Comment: The answer is we don’t know the answer. It’s never been addressed publicly and I’ve never heard why she was there.

Hi, Steve. Do you know if The Bachelor has counselors on set for the contestants to talk to? I think it would be really helpful.

Comment: They have a psychologist that travels with them. But after you talk to them after your elimination, that’s basically the last time you hear from them.
