I just want to say that I don’t mind that you got this spoiler wrong. One thing that I always appreciate about you is that if you do something wrong, you own up to your mistakes whether big (Jenna) or small (a silly spoiler).
The new spoiler does bring me to a question though. It seems pretty clear that they gave Maria a good edit and left some things out. Which I’m glad they did. I love Maria. She is gorgeous, outspoken and confident. When I thought Daisy won, it made it seemed Maria was a shoe in for the bachelorette given the edit and her popularity. Now that we know Daisy doesn’t win, it seems obvious they will go with her. Like you said, she has it all. My question is, why do you think they shifted the edit so much with Maria? I’m a bit sad now as I would have loved to see her as bachelorette (I know, still possible, but seems unlikely). Did Maria’s edit shift? I don’t really think so. I still think she’s a viable candidate. It’s basically between her and Daisy. I just happen to think they’re gonna go with Daisy.
Also, was Adeline at your party last year? I remember talking to your nieces friend from MN, and we connected because I’m from MN. We talked about their career goals, such smart and kind young ladies Ha ha no. She brought two of her roommates from last year, but not Adeline. Adeline wasn’t her roommate last year. And I don’t think either of the friends she brought last year were from MN, I think you might’ve mixed them up with someone else. One was from Chicago and the other from Vermont.
PPS thanks for getting me hooked on Dave Neal. My husband wants to go to one of his shows soooo badly, but being from the Twin Cities, we would likely have to fly somewhere to see him. I enjoy you and his honest commentary, you both have a sarcastic humor that I appreciate!
Comment: You never know, maybe Dave will get up to Minnesota one of these times. It’s not out of the question. Especially where he is now in Nashville, it wouldn’t be nearly as far as him going there from CA.

Curious – You’ve mentioned and we’ve known for years that the producers get the women (or men) to speak up and say stuff they may not mean at WTA so they can get on Paradise. Obviously that’s not happening this summer so what motivation do you think the producers will have to get the women to speak up?

Comment: I still think the motivation is the same. First off, I don’t think Paradise is done forever. Just hearing this season. Secondly, most of these contestants don’t want to get on the bad side of production. Anything that keeps them in the fold for possible return appearances, podcast guests, etc. They’ll do what producers tell them. They always do.

read your column today and you’re saying that with Des’ season someone purposely misled you?? Have you ever addressed that anywhere? that’s a story in and of itself. granted that season was a long time ago but I don’t think I’d be the only person interested in it.
Comment: I have on occasion, but I’ve basically just left it at that. Because even though they ghosted me after the finale aired, I still don’t know exactly how or why they did. But since I’ve never talked to them since, doubt I’ll get an answer. I have an idea about it all because it was at a time where there was some stuff going on in my personal life with a stalker that, I think, she had something to do with it. But that story could take hours to tell. And now that it was so long ago, I don’t even remember all the details anymore. I just remember thinking at the time when Des’ finale aired and then that person who was a major contact that season disappeared, that I’d been played. And then they tweeted literally minutes after the finale aired to Robert Mills, and Mills’ responded. It was kinda weird.

Comment: No, I have not. All I know is that he didn’t flat out say he wasn’t picking her, because that would clearly have given it away to the audience.

I just wanted to say thank you! I have enjoyed your podcasts revolving around Joey’s season. I totally agree with what you said about people bashing Daisy without even seeing how it plays out. I feel that so many people out there are hyped on Maria, and completely miss how great Daisy is…but am I surprised with the world we live in, no!
Your honesty and ability to be humble about being wrong is a breath of fresh air. I enjoy hearing your perspective on your spoilers because I feel like many people see things for face value now a days, and you dive deeper.
While I like both girls, I am team Daisy. With that being said, is it just me or does Daisy (with her genuine personality) sort of resemble a Sean Lowe type lead? Just my thought! ?????

I think you’re looking at two totally different women who’d deliver totally different season just by their personalities. There’s not a right or wrong here. I’m fine with either one. Subject: Weird COVID Sports Memories
the main weird thing I remember from Covid that made it on to ESPN was the athletes doing an all star peloton ride. I still to this day can’t believe that actually made in on to tv in summer of 2020.
Comment: Geez, I pretty much watched ESPN non-stop during COVID and even I don’t remember that. Shit, that’s when I got my Peloton just like everyone else. I absolutely would’ve watched that ha ha.

I’m catching up on your pod casts, you mentioned that Daisy will be a good candidate for the Bachelorette after the finally what she does and just how much she was liked. But could it be that producers won’t ask her to be because your cousin is her sisters roommate? I know they didn’t tell you anything of spoilers this season but what if it’s a hits close to home kind of thing for them? I wouldn’t know anything about that. If they don’t choose her and that’s the reason, 1) I don’t think they’d ever tell her that and 2) I wouldn’t even know to begin with because there’s no communication there. I’ve never had any contact with any member of the Kent family in my life. First time I will will be when Adeline comes to my party this year.
And kind of the ironic thing in all this is, lets just say that’s their reason internally if they were to not make Daisy the Bachelorette. Kind of a stupid reason, no? Since for 3 months I thought she won this season.
Also for the WTA I know you like receipts when giving spoilers, I’m not sure what receipt I could provide to prove I’ve been in the audience, but I’ve been a few times, but then again this isn’t really a spoiler either I think I’m permitted to give you this information. When I have gone they take us to a waiting area kind of like a warehouse, there is a back drop we can take pictures on, and then they take our phones away, they bring out some person that is from their legal team or that’s what they tell us anyway and they have us sign NDAs because we are finding out what’s happening before it happens. I find it funny I’ve only gone to two pre filmed and both times they brought you up specifically, they tell us not to disclose anything to you, and then not to disclose to the public what we see. They have someone taking photos of us like “memories” kind of stuff and they wait until after the show airs to send us the pictures.
Comment: Oh yeah. I’m well aware what they tell the audience ha ha. I just chuckle at it.

When you announced the change of spoiler something dawned on me….
I’m from Minnesota so I pay extra attention to women from here (have you noticed they’ve done a lot of casting from MN in recent years?). Anyways, I’ve noticed there’s something of a MN girl curse going on. Becca Kufrin, Michelle Young, Leslie Fhima, and now Daisy have all been runners up! Obviously Becca was technically the “winner” but you get what I’m saying. Thought that was kind of wild!
Also, I don’t think it’s far fetched to guess that Leslie and Daisy could both become Bachelorette. My theory as to why Minnesota girls make it so far on this show and end up being “stars” is because it’s MN is a liberal state with traditional family values… which is the Bachelor Franchise’s ideal casting.

Comment: It’s a very good point. I never thought of that. It’s a very good chance Daisy and Leslie are the next two leads of this franchise. Could be a coincidence since I don’t think they’re actively saying “we need our next Bachelorette to be from MN”…or, what you said.
