Podcast #403 – Interview with Kate Casey from the “Reality Life” Podcast (And Transcripts)

Another fun interview with Kate Casey from the “Reality Life” podcast today as we cover a myriad of topics going on in the reality TV world from Vpump Rules to The Valley, to Big Brother, to RHONJ and the madness that’s happening there, etc. Then Kate also gives us her recommendations for documentaries she’s watched and is covering. Before that, I dive into the chaos that is Big Brother this week, my new favorite Instagram page if you grew up in the early 90’s, the terrorist plot that cancelled 3 of Taylor Swift’s concerts in Vienna this weekend, and what story I read this week that’s making me feel old. Man, I never would’ve guessed it in a million years. I think I’m still recovering from it. Big today today on the site, and don’t forget, Podcast #403 is also on my YouTube page like it is every Thursday now. Check that out below. Enjoy…

DAILY ROUNDUP 8/8 TRANSCRIPT
___________________

You are listening to the daily roundup here as part of the reality. Steve podcast. I’m your host reality. Steve. Thank you all for tuning in on this Thursday. Good show for you. I’m going to talk about what’s coming up in a couple hours on podcast number four Oh three and also what’s coming tomorrow on the daily round.

I want to give you a heads up on that big brother last night. I told you it was chaotic. It was actually fun to watch it all play out, see what CBS chose to show us. Tonight’s going to even be more chaotic. So much to go over there. I think I have a new favorite Instagram page, just unreal how awesome it is.

And it’s for us millennials. If you were born after the year 2000, you probably won’t care. Awful news regarding Taylor Swift and her concert in Vienna this weekend. Well, not anymore. And a story I teased in yesterday’s open that I completely forgot to talk about is something that I saw that’s making me feel very, very old.

And we’ll get to all that momentarily. Let’s start off with this coming up in a couple hours, both in Apple podcasts and Spotify and on my YouTube channel. As you know, all the Thursday podcasts are now on my YouTube, and that is going to be Episode number 403 with Kate Casey of the reality life podcast.

We have a lot to talk about Vanderpump rules. We talk about the Valley. We talk about real housewives of New Jersey, even though I don’t watch it. We talk about big brother and she always gives great recommendations for documentaries that you might want to tune into if you haven’t already. So we go over that as well.

I have Kate on probably once every three months. Because she does such a great job of getting us caught up on watching what shows we need to be watching in addition to her podcast interviews, a lot of the directors, producers, even some of the people involved in these documentaries. And if you’ve heard her on in the past, you know how thorough she gets talking to these producers and directors and.

Really gets a lot of top-notch guests when it comes to these documentaries that she covers. So that’s coming up in a couple hours. I will say that tomorrow’s daily roundup has already been recorded. It is a Friday fun. I wouldn’t even call it an interview. It’s just a Friday fun chat with Courtney Robertson and I will tell you on Monday why Friday’s podcast is was prerecorded, recorded it today with Courtney, it’s gonna run tomorrow, and I just wanted to give you a heads up.

So there won’t be any news covered in it other than I do have to record the open to it, and I’ll probably touch on what we see in the Big Brother live eviction ceremony. So there’s that. I will definitely cover that, but I wanted to, and you know what, maybe I, you know what, maybe I won’t because of what’s going on tomorrow night.

I might just have the whole thing just pre recorded and then just tell you all on Monday, what’s going on. Anyway, I wanted to let you know, going into tomorrow’s podcast, that it’s not going to be a, something where I cover the news at all, still debating whether or not to do the open and just talk about what happens on the craziness.

That is big brother. But we’ll see. Speaking of Big Brother, last night, part one of the, I’m assuming, back to back chaotic episodes. And it was what I had gone over, if you’ve been watching the live feeds, or at least been following along of what’s happening on the live feeds. Just craziness. And I haven’t read anything that happened yesterday.

So maybe cooler heads have prevailed. Although I did see something to where Cedric and Tucker have made up or they hugged it out and, you know, no hard, they gave each other the hug it out, no hard feelings thing, but the conversation right after last night’s veto ceremony is probably going to be shown tonight.

And that is what we talked about yesterday. Tucker felt blindsided because he thought that Cedric was going to put Because that’s who he said. And he’s saying, no, that’s not the case. Not happening. He said, I never told you I was putting up Quinn. I said to use the veto on yourself. And Tucker says, no, you didn’t.

If you would have told me that I would have done it. Why would I have disobeyed you? Or why would you have not listened to you? So again, they went around in circles. Cedric thinks he told Tucker to use the veto on himself. Tucker says, no, you didn’t. But the bottom line is they were pissed off. They had a good five minute fight, which was basically Tucker yelling at him.

And. I do believe he did tell Tucker at some point, Tucker might’ve just had it in his mind. Well, I don’t care what he tells me to do. I’m going to do what I want to do. I want to shake up this game because he knew about Quinn’s power. Now here’s the, here’s the thing that’s interesting to me. Well, you know, before I get to that again with Tucker, I’m sure there are people in this franchise over 26 seasons that I’ve gotten under the viewer skin.

I’ve only been watching since season 21. I can’t think of a more annoying contestant on this show. In the six seasons that I’ve watched than Tucker. I mean, it’s, it’s just like, he’s trying way too hard to be funny. If you’re naturally funny, great. But because you talk in a dumb voice and a stupid accent that you’re making up, it doesn’t make it funny.

Good whiskey for the biscuit. They’ll get away. Good. Good. With like, who talks like that? Are you seven? It’s just not funny. Now you can separate his gameplay.

Okay. From him being a moron in the confessionals in the diary room, which I think he is, if you’re a friend of his great, I mean, I’m sure he’s a wonderful human being. I’m just saying on this show, when he’s talking to the camera, he sounds like an idiot and he’s trying way too hard to be funny. And I don’t think I haven’t heard one funny thing come out of his mouth.

That’s just me. And I do think that he thinks very highly of himself. And you know, me, I’ve said this for years, covering the bachelor and bachelorette, anybody that consistently talks about themselves and thinks they’re better than everybody else, which Tucker clearly does, you can say, Oh, Steve, he’s just got a lot of confidence.

He’s obviously good at the gameplay there. He thinks he’s hot shit. So yeah, he’s just incredibly annoying to me and just the way he talks and he, he can’t just have a normal conversation, especially when he’s in the diary room. He has to put on a performance for the camera. It’s just so much. He’s so, I guess the best way to describe him would be.

What do the kids say nowadays? He’s just so extra. That’s what he is. He’s extra. And I understand what he’s doing. He’s putting himself up on the block two weeks in a row. So he can possibly win. Power of Vito. Win. And I understand that he wanted to change things up because he was bored. But it’s ultimately gonna get him out of this game earlier than he probably should.

Because he’s showed his cards. He showed his hand of how good of a player he is. Nobody’s going to want to be with him at the end. Nobody’s going to, everyone’s going to want to take a shot at him. Quinn said it at the end of the episode. Look, he knows I have my power. And the next point I wanted to talk about is the fact that Quinn, if he doesn’t get eliminated, if he isn’t voted by America in tonight as the third nominee, and even if he is, if he wins BBI or he doesn’t get voted out, if Quinn is on the show next week, Tucker 1000 percent is going up and yeah, he might win power veto again.

I’m just saying, he’s not just going to keep winning every single time. He’s got to lose at some point. And I think that’s when people are going to take their shot at him. Because I think that he’s showing exactly how good of a player he is. But Quinn is basically the HOH next week, right? With this power, it doesn’t matter who wins HOH because Quinn controls it.

So basically you want to suck up to Quinn, assuming he comes back next week. Now, if America puts him up and he doesn’t win BBAI, I think he’s gone. Because everybody in the house knows his power now, and they’re basically like, well, he, he’s basically our HOH next week. It doesn’t even matter who wins because he’s just going to change it to do whatever he wants.

He puts up the noms and he puts up renoms. So he’s basically running the house next week. So if he ends up on the block tonight and and voted on by America and then doesn’t win BBA arena, I got to believe he’s gone. And it would be a smart move for the house. Yet another week where you can get a big player out.

While I don’t think anybody likes Angela and nobody wants her in the game, they’re not going to carry her all the way to the end. I’m going to carry her 75 more days because they know they can beat her because she’s going to lose it again at some point. And people are just going to be like, can we just get rid of her, please?

I mean, she was supposed to be gone this week and then Tucker just wanted to shake up the game. That’s really all he did it for. He said he was bored. I don’t want to say the first two weeks were boring, but there definitely didn’t seem to be a lot of game playing happening. There was a ton of alliances, but I understand what he did.

Now, the whole thing in the argument with Cedric and Tucker, I think Tucker’s going to find out when he watches the feeds back or he watches the episodes back. I do think Cedric told him. I thought I saw that on a clip on Twitter. I could have sworn Cedric told him, use the veto on yourself. We don’t have the numbers.

And then his argument is, yeah, I kept saying, I don’t care about the numbers. I don’t give an F about the numbers. That’s what he kept saying to him, but that doesn’t mean that Cedric didn’t tell him we don’t have the numbers use the veto on yourself. So I’m pretty sure Cedric did. And Tucker just wants to do his own thing and he doesn’t care.

And he wants to build his resume by continuing to put himself up on the block. It’s just, I didn’t. I don’t know if that’s great gameplay. Cause he’s showed everybody how good of a competitor he is and how many people want to take someone like that to the end. He’s already got a BB, BB, AI arena win. He’s already got a power of veto win tonight.

He might have his second BB, AI arena win. You think anybody wants to take this guy further? He’s going to win an HOH. He’s going to win another POV. He’s going to win another BB, AI arena before the end of the season, you would think. He’s out of there and Quinn is already controlling the show next week anyway.

So Tucker is going to be playing for a power of veto next week. And if he doesn’t win that, he’s going to be playing for BBA arena next week, 1000 percent guaranteed. Cause Quinn already said it. It’s like, Tucker, you already told me your game. You, I know that you were the one who told McKenzie, Hey, that wasn’t the plan.

Sorry. So Quinn knows Quinn knows that Tucker knows his upgrade. Just, you know, you want, he’s a good physical player, but. Continuing to put yourself up on the block so you can win and build your resume. I don’t think build your resume so you can ultimately end up winning this game. It’s just going to get them booted earlier than he wanted to.
