Daily Roundup 2/13 – Love is Blind Eps 1-6 Thoughts, Outlets Now Reporting the DWTS News I Posted Two Days Ago, Kaitlyn Bristowe Addresses the Criticism, & Valentine’s Day

A few days ago, I actually had some Dancing with the Stars spoilers.

There’s going to be a spinoff show, which had been talked about for a while. That wasn’t major news. Anybody that has like a Dancing With the Stars Die Hard, had heard rumblings that, hey, they’re going to do a show before next season of Dancing with the Stars, where they’re gonna select a new pro dancer in a sort of reality show.

That pro dancer will be winning this new dancer with the Stars Show and then they will be a pro automatically on the fall season of Dancing With the Stars. That wasn’t news details surrounding that show were a little bit kept hush hush, and. When Dancing With the Stars went on GMA earlier this week and said they had an announcement, everybody assumed that that was gonna be the announcement, that there was gonna be a new reality show for Dancing with the Stars that was gonna air this summer before the fall season of Dancing with the Stars.

Well, that wasn’t the announcement. The announcement was, oh, hey, we’re doing a Dancing with the Stars Con in Palm Springs July 31st to August 2nd. Okay. That same day is when I released my tweet. I think that was Tuesday where I said those that were expecting a Dancing with the Stars reality show. It’s still happening.

I don’t know when they’re going to announce it. Expect the announcement soon. But Robert Irwin is gonna be the host of this thing. Mark Ballast and his mother are at least two of the judges, and they will be selecting a pro. That will be part of the season 35 of Dancing With the Stars. Well. Look at this.

Reported by US Weekly yesterday, US Weekly has learned a new spinoff show is in the works, tentatively titled Dance with the Stars, the Next Pro and Will feature up and coming. Pro dancers competing for a spot on season 35 of ABC’s Hit Reality show. They’re getting their story and they said Wild conservationist.

Robert Irwin is in talks to host. Meanwhile, pro Mark Ballas and his mother, Shirley Ballas could serve as judges. Nothing else in the story reports. Anything else about this show? So for all I know, they just took my tweet from three days ago and made it into a story because they didn’t provide anything else other than this is going to be a reality show.

And that’s what we knew it was going to be. Some pro was gonna get chosen in some form, like the format of the show, we don’t know yet. I think Variety reported it’s gonna be on A, B, C, and Hulu. That’s not really much of a surprise. Because that’s where their fan base is. You’ll choose a pro dancer. And that pro dancer will go on to be on season 35 of Dancing With the Stars.

Obviously I would think they would need a third judge. ’cause most reality show competitions have three judges, so it looks like Mark and his mother are gonna be two of them. Robert Irwin being the host, and we’ll get a third judge and then just how it’s formatted. I think one of the stories said that the, all these pro dancers, were gonna live in a house and there’s gonna be competitions during the week.

I don’t know if there’s gonna be a vote out every week, but maybe you accumulate points and then the dancers, who knows, we don’t know the format. It obviously has not filmed. This is gonna be a live show that you vote on every week. But again, at no point during this US weekly story, could you have said.

You know, I even at the bottom of this article, just say, as first reported by reality, Steve, I, you know, I, I, I guess I’m asking, I’m asking for the bare minimum, but when they run a story two days later after my tweet, and nothing in the story is anything more than what my tweet said, it’s like they can claim.

They didn’t know or they didn’t see my tweet. I don’t buy it ’cause it’s out there. It made the rounds, it’s whatever. I talked about Kaitlyn Bristow, and it was part of my conversation with Jackie Maroney. What she had did at the end of last week. She had read some negative reviews on her Facebook page for Off the Vine, and she went into a full crash out.

She was very upset by it and recorded herself with tears streaming down her face and, and basically I guess, did not know that people felt she wasn’t a great interviewer. I can’t add to that. Because I have not listened to Off the Vine a full interview probably in my life. I just listen to clips here and there, and I see clips all the time.

But I don’t know Caitlyn as an interviewer. I don’t know if she’s good or bad. According to Jackie, this has been a major criticism of her on her Facebook page where she will interview people and she feels under prepared. So she just turns every answer that the guest gives into something that she can relate to her life.

I have no idea if that’s accurate. Okay. But I have no idea if that’s what Kaitlyn does well yesterday on her Facebook group. She went into her off the Vine Facebook group page and posted this. Now that I have had a chance to sleep, regroup, think, pray, meditate. I am regulated. Thank you to the anonymous listener who gave with love some constructive criticism.

I don’t think the doggy pile hap helped, but I was coming off some very hard days. Ice storm, no power. Pinot getting sick, getting kicked outta the country, traveling with dogs to Canada and feeling scared, but it gave me a chance to feel. Cry, and now I am motivated to truly do better. Thanks for lighting a fire and to those who felt the need to add to it.

Maybe just remember, I’m human and I love what I do. I do work really hard, but maybe after eight and a half years I was getting complacent and it hit home. She wrote complacent, CON Placent, complacent. It’s. Complacent, but it’s very possible. That was just an autocorrect. I don’t know. I read this page and the message, it was already received.

I love you all so much. Truly, I can’t wait to put this into motion and be better. I’ve already done two interviews since, and I feel a new sense of respect for the listeners. So I think we’re talking about two things here when it comes to Caitlin. I don’t think anywhere in that statement she was referencing what me or Jackie said on my podcast, because Jackie and I were more about the response and what she posted on Instagram, which has nothing to do with her interviewing skills.

We were just talking about. I don’t understand how somebody in a full cry. Post that. What’s the reason for that? She could have easily gone into the Facebook route that night and instead of going on her IG stories and hitting record on her phone while she was already mid cry to let everybody know she was upset by what she read about people talking about her interviewing skills.

That could have easily been a Facebook post. It could have been a tweet, it could have been an Instagram story with just words. Just saying, I see you. I did not know this was a criticism about me. I had no idea you guys felt this way about my interviewing skills. And it would’ve had just as much effect if probably not stronger.

Me and Jackie were just under, we had nothing really to add to the whole interviewing skills thing. ’cause I just don’t listen to her to know if they’re good or not and if she needs to do better research on her guests. I have no idea. Our whole complaint was that whole recording yourself while tears are streaming down your face is different than starting to record a video and getting emotional during it.

She was mid cry when she decided, I’m gonna record this and put this out as an Instagram story, and that to me is just very foreign. And I think to a lot of people they didn’t understand and we talked about the vulnerability. Yes, fans wanna see people’s vulnerabilities and they wanna see you not having the greatest time ever, every single post on Instagram.

’cause that’s not real life. We all go through tough times. But to turn the camera on yourself when you’re bawling, that means you have to stop the camera and you’re still crying, or you’re stopping, you’re crying, and then turning around, hitting posts. It just, it just doesn’t come across as authentic. It comes across as.

You guys need to see me in this vulnerable position when I think she could have come across just as vulnerable with just words. Taking a screenshot of all those things that people were saying about her in her Facebook group and saying she needs to be better on her research and saying, look at what you guys have said.

I’ve seen what you guys have said. Here they are. Show them to our audience on our Instagram story. It just didn’t need to be accompanied with. Her and an Instagram story, a video of her just bawling her eyes out. That’s all. So this Facebook group post that she made yesterday seems to be like, Hey, almost this is exactly what she should have done last week instead of posting the video.

And I understand, seems like. She saw the criticism and she wish wasn’t expecting it, and because of everything that was going on in her life, the ice storm, she had no power for a long time. Her dog got sick, she had to leave the country. I get that. She had a lot going on. It just seems to me, I mean, this is just my opinion, but it just seems to me even more reason why you wouldn’t turn your camera on yourself and record yourself in full bawling mode to post to your followers on Instagram.

Because you’re going through all that. The last thing I would want to do would be to show people that, just tell them you’re going through it. Put it in words on your Instagram story. But again, that’s just me and her posts yesterday. Look, I don’t know what her next two interviews are. She says that she has regrouped and she feels like these two interviews are much better done.

She has a new sense of respect for her listeners. Maybe she felt complacent after eight and a half years. It’s very possible, but yeah. She really seemed to come around on that and she’s gonna try and do better, and that’s all you can ask for as an Instagram host. Our issue was just what she posted on the Instagram story, nothing to do with the criticism, criticism she was getting in her face group book, group that caused the meltdown.

And one thing, if you missed the conversation with Jackie and I on Thursday, either on YouTube. Or if you just didn’t listen to it in audio yet. One of the things that I wanna remind people of is, you know, I, again, I don’t follow Kaitlyn and her interviews, but as I told Jackie in that interview, people like Kaitlyn, people like Nick and Natalie, they get a lot of great guests, way better guests.

Than some of the other content creators do from all these different shows and all these different walks of life. And it’s just, especially when they’re interviewing people from different shows, I just can’t imagine Caitlin has seen all these shows that all these people she interviews have been on. So that means you have to just go to internet research and get your questions off there.

And I find myself. I’m kind of in the same boat when it comes to interviewing, because I’ve said this for years on this podcast. I really do not like interviewing people who shows I have not seen, and I mean, obviously I’m, I’m at 482 podcasts. The weekly podcast has had 482 guests. I, I, I, I could probably count on one hand.

How many of them were people whose show I never saw? And honestly, off the top of my head, I can’t think of one right now, but there’s gotta be a few. I don’t know. But what I’m saying is I think it’s a real thing because for me, I just don’t want to interview people who shows I’ve never seen, because I just don’t feel like, yes, I could go and Google them and Google all the things that happened on their season.

I can just fire off these questions. Based on what the internet gives me, but I think the flow of the interview will kind of suck because I can’t do any follow-ups to anything they say to me because I won’t know anything. And to me, that’s a big deal. It’s one of the things that I like to do in my interviews is have follows.

I have set questions in my head and written down that I want to ask my guests, but because I know what show they’ve been on and I watched it, usually I’m able to follow up with some stuff. It’s why I’ve avoided, like I’ve never interviewed a real housewife in my life. Actually, I take that back. I’ve interviewed two.

One of ’em was Brandy Redmond from Real Housewives of Dallas, which is the only real housewife show that I’ve watched, and I only watched the first two seasons of that. And then I actually interviewed Brandy Glanville. Well, technically she interviewed me. I was out in LA one weekend. She interviewed me.

And then during the interview she allowed me to ask her questions, and I used that as my weekly podcast one week, but I had never seen her on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. So it wasn’t really just, Hey reality, Steve’s sitting down with Brandy Glenville and he’s gonna grill her. I just didn’t know enough about her.

So she interviewed me and I would fire back some questions. The one thing I did talk about with Brandy Glenville is I read both of her books before I interviewed her, and I think that my questions came from that. You know, the Eddie Sian stuff, her children, all that. Leanne Rhimes finding out that Leanne Rhimes was, you know, hooking up with her husband, all that stuff.

But I don’t remember really talking Real Housewives stuffs. ’cause I didn’t know, I didn’t know her storyline on Real Housewives. And that’s why I do try and keep my interviews to people whose, if they’re a reality show, contestant a season that I actually watched. And content creators and journalists and Instagram influencers.

It’s just easier for me. I, I just feel like I’d come across phony if I interviewed somebody whose show I didn’t watch. And if I did, because somebody pitched it to me and I said, oh wow, this is a, this is a big name. I would make it known right off the bat, like I do not know a lot about your past. I, I just it.

That’s just me, me. I know other people do it. There’s no way that Nick and Natalie as evidenced by their interview with Austen Kroll, and I don’t think there’s any way that Kaitlyn watches every episode of every season of some of these big name guests that she has watched. There’s just no way, especially Nick and Natalie, their parents, they’ve got a child.

There’s no way they’re watching all these episodes of all these shows. We’ve probably seen clips here and there and stuff like that. Kaitlyn obviously is not married, but she’s in relationship. Seemingly she has dogs that she gotta take care of. Maybe she has more time to watch reality tv, but I have no idea if Kaitlin just consumes reality TV all day.

Probably not. So there’s just no way. I just keep that in mind when you listen to them. I think it’s probably pretty easy to spot if these people actually do have knowledge of the person that they’re interviewing. And finally just wanna say, tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. I know a lot of people are kind of not hip on Valentine’s Day and just say It’s a media created holiday and all this, and why do we have to do this and Valentine’s Day and you know, I don’t have a Valentine’s for tomorrow.

And that’s fine. But let me just say if I did. I would absolutely spoil the hell out of them with a very lovely dinner at the Olive Garden. So take that Valentine’s Day. Now, I, I have dated somebody in the past and Valentine’s Day was while we were dating, and yeah, I, I just, I don’t have any reason to complain that, ugh.

Here it is February 14th. Gotta do something nice like who would complain about something like that? Why? It’s just another, it’s just another day. And you know what? If you’re somebody that doesn’t do anything nice for your significant other for months leading up to it, maybe it does get you off your ass to do something.

I’ve just never understood the people who complain about Valentine’s Day, I’ve never, why? If you have a significant, significant other, do something nice for them that day. If you do stuff nice for them all year long, then maybe Valentine’s Day is just, you still do something nice for them, but maybe you keep it more personal.

It doesn’t have to be this extravagant dinner. It doesn’t have to be anything major, but acknowledge it. I don’t think that’s a big deal. So many people, I feel like the people that get upset at Valentine’s Day being a media creation are people that are single on Valentine’s Day and are just bothered by it.

Right, or maybe I’m wrong. Maybe it’s people that are in relationships. I guess people in relationships that are complaining about Valentine’s Day are probably people that are in relationships that they don’t wanna be in and not healthy relationships because they’re getting shunned for it. I don’t know.

I’ve just never understood the negativity surrounding Valentine’s Day. It’s not this giant major deal. That you have to perform and go totally bonkers for. Yeah. For somebody that you’re in the beginning of dating, you’re probably gonna do more than somebody you’ve been with for 30 years, unless it happens to be your anniversary or something, you know?

But yeah, I get it. I, I, I get it in terms of, yeah, Valentine’s Day is a cool holiday to have somebody, but I don’t get the complaining on it. It never made sense to me. Anyway, thank you all for listening. Really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcast. Also, rate and review, but you gotta hit play. The only way it counts is Download Sports Daily.
