Switching topics, something that has come up an awful lot since last week that I figured I’d address here rather than in “Reader Emails” tomorrow was the “Beverly Hills 90210” premiere. So many thoughts on this but first and foremost, I gotta say, I’m shocked at how many people didn’t know what this was going to be. I’d say 90-95% of the response I got on social media was “what is this?” I think people thought they were just gonna reboot the show 30 years later, and that they were just going to return to playing the characters from the original series and pick up in 2019. Not sure why people thought that because at no time was it ever said that that’s what the plan was. It was always going to be an exaggerated version of the real life people 30 years later. A lot of people want the original back but the more I thought about it, I just don’t know how that’d work. I don’t think they do a show 20 yrs later. We’re in different times. We know those people from the cheesy, campy show of the 90s. We know them from these characters. Now we’re gonna put those same characters from 20 years ago in a 2019 drama? There’s prob 50 better dramas on TV now with better actors? This makes more sense to me.

I thought it was funnier, I liked the fact that they all took aspects from their real life over the last 20 years, exaggerated it a bit, and made fun of themselves. They HAD to. Because lets face it, until the end of time, every single one of those actors will be known for their 90210 character. Only Ian has even come close to getting away from that, as maybe some know him as the “Sharknado” guy. But other than that, unfortunately, none of them had a major career in Hollywood post-90210 except maybe Luke, and even his wasn’t major. But there’s enough dramas in 2019 already on TV that nothing these people did would stand out because they weren’t necessarily known for their acting chops. So this concept works for me for the time being. We’ll see where it goes. I get that it’s not for everyone, but lets be honest, aren’t most of us just wanting to see the group back together and still in the “90210” concept? I mean, if they all came back together and this had nothing to do with 90210, then it wouldn’t make sense and I would get people hating it. It’ll never be what it was. Ever. So I’ll take whatever I can get from them now.

The Blake/Caelynn stuff really took off towards the end of last week, especially after Caelynn’s IG post on Wednesday night which I addressed at the beginning of last week’s podcast. This story has so many layers to it and people want to say one person is wrong versus the other. I think it’s safe to say both Caelynn and Blake both made mistakes in the relationship. That’s for sure. No one is 100% right and the other 100% wrong in this. To say otherwise would be very narrow minded. But there are some things I keep hearing over and over again that just aren’t making sense to me in regards to this situation. For example, “Blake didn’t have a right to expose their private texts.” Well, he kinda did. He has a right to do anything he wants. Whether you like what he did or not doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the right to do it. But what I don’t get is those who claim Blake never should’ve released such private texts don’t seem to have an issue with Caelynn outing their relationship on TV. He released the texts BECAUSE she talked about their relationship on TV. So if she talks about it on the show (which she has every right to do), why can’t Blake respond to it?

The next issue then becomes was Caelynn really bothered by the Blake stuff and where did this reaction come from? Because judging by Blake’s texts that he did reveal, this was a relationship that was over, wasn’t going anywhere on Paradise, and both had agreed to basically not talk about it on the show. Blake may have tried to “silence” her in talking about it, but judging by those texts, Caelynn had no problem with it either, and I think that’s why Blake is so stunned when Caelynn confronts him with all this. When I read those texts, it was telling me that they agreed what they had was nothing more than a hookup, neither of them wanted others to find out, somehow someone did, they were freaking out about how to address it on the show, then agreed it wasn’t a big deal and if it came up, it came up and they’d be honest about it. This was a week before filming. Then a week later filming starts and Caelynn is up in arms about how Blake treated her 2 months previous, throwing out accusations of trying to “silence” her when she was clearly fine with it? That’s where things aren’t adding up on Caelynn’s side.

Lets also not forget, when I first told everyone the Blake fiasco down in Paradise and how this was going to be a nightmare for him, even I couldn’t believe the things I was hearing and was calling Blake a moron for what he did. Especially when I heard about the “mistake” comment and what not. But now that I’ve heard everything in context and been able to step back from it all, I see now that things aren’t necessarily what they seem. And knowing that Caelynn has been involved in nothing but drama in her appearances on the show, I also took that into consideration. Lets face it, she was BFF’s with Hananh during Miss USA then they weren’t, creating this major divide heading into Colton’s season. Some people thought it was because of Hannah, some thought it was because of Caelynn. The more things I heard behind the scenes, it was MUCH more about Caelynn. Then you had the drama of Caelynn & Cassie talking about “Bachelorette” during the group date. Then you had the Women Tell All where Caelynn was called out on that and her and Katie couldn’t agree on who said what during a phone call that took place between them. Now this. So Caelynn immediately being given the benefit of the doubt in anything isn’t being objective at all. The woman has been the center of drama from the second she appeared on this show, through no fault of her own.

Then you read her IG post last Wednesday and she’s talking about how their relationship was more than a one night stand and she felt disrespected. Here’s all I’m gonna say about that. There’s a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on about this story now, and lets just say, there’s more coming. If not in the media, I have a feeling it’ll get out when they film the reunion in a couple weeks. And none of it seems to be favoring Caelynn’s side of the story. We’ll see what happens in the coming weeks, but what Caelynn wrote on her IG is pretty contradictory to what I’m hearing behind the scenes. But I’ll let it play out and expand more once it does. To me, this whole situation of Blake exposing the texts boils down to this simple issue: A sexual assault victim accused someone on national television of trying to silence her. Blake HAD to speak out. If he speaks out at the reunion, or on a podcast tour after the show which I’m sure he’ll do, can you imagine if he says a month from now, “Oh my god, you have no idea. Caelynn was after ME at Stagecoach. She was the one who wanted to have sex and was even telling me it was just sex.” Can you imagine if he said that in an interview and provided no receipts the hell he would’ve gotten from people? No one would’ve believed him and he would’ve been criticized for slut shaming her. Like I said, there’s more coming to this story I’m sure, so lets see it play out then go from there.
