So tomorrow we dip out of the Bachelor Nation for our podcast guest as Jenny McCarthy will be joining me for podcast #36. And yes, already I had at least 5 people ask me about the vaccination stuff. No, it was never brought up, nor was it ever going to be. I’m not doing an expose on her. This wasn’t an interview to challenge her on her stance about something like that. I try to keep my interviews a little more light hearted. The fact that Jenny even agreed to do it was a bonus for me, so I’m not going to have her on and start badgering her. I hope you can see Jenny as more than that. It’s a fun interview, Jenny has always been good to me from the time she’s had me on her radio show, so I returned the courtesy to her. We were on a time limit, but when someone like Jenny McCarthy agrees to come on my podcast, I’m not demanding I get an hour or more with her. I take what she’ll give me, so it’s definitely shorter than past podcasts. But I think you’ll like it. I found her talk about Playboy and getting started in the business pretty interesting. So look for that tomorrow as I think you’ll enjoy it.
Former Nick Viall contestant Astrid Loch had herself quite an interesting interview yesterday with Entertainment Tonight. I had about 10 people email or tweet this yesterday within a couple hours of it posting, so yeah, this thing spread pretty quick. I mean, I know there are people who still doubt the spoiler of Rachel being engaged to Bryan, but for those that maybe don’t, just fast forward to the 28 minute mark of this interview:
Hey #BachelorNation! We're LIVE with @astrid_loch recapping last night's #TheBachelorette. https://t.co/nMDBTOaBoK pic.twitter.com/2FavmTJf1a

I mean sure, maybe she’s taking Peter or Eric to Miami for an engagement party even though their families are in Wisconsin and Baltimore respectively. Sooooo yeah. A big thanks to Astrid for that. Granted, it’s something I’ve known since the first week of June but it’s always nice to get a spoiler slip up at some point during the season.
You see the video of a young DeMario hitting on Britney Spears that made the rounds yesterday. Here it is in case you missed it:
I’m stunned that Britney actually engaged as much as she did with some random fan all while getting harassed in a grocery store parking lot. And this was during the f***ed up Britney years. Still pretty funny though.
Speaking of DeMario (and Corinne for that matter), we know that both of them will be appearing at the reunion special at the end of Paradise. Yesterday it was announced each of them will get a sit down interview with Chris Harrison to discuss what happened that day. Based on how this reads, I think this is definitely separate from them appearing at the reunion show. It wasn’t exactly clear, but that’s my guess. Or, their sit down will taped earlier and it will be shown during the reunion show. I guess that’s a possibility as well. Either way, there is going to be plenty of attention given to what happened that caused filming to shut down for nearly two weeks.
Ok, lets get to your “Men Tell All” spoilers. Again, not a whole hell of a lot to get to here since the show is pretty much the same thing every season, but here’s the basics of what you need to know:
-Eric, Peter, and Bryan weren’t a part of the show.
-Lee and DeMario were both there.
-4 guys got called up to the hot seat: Dean, Adam, Kenny, and Lee. Dean talked about how he hasn’t spoken to his dad since the show ended, but he’s optimistic about the future. They showed behind the scenes clips of Adam and Rachel’s relationship since we basically never saw any of it on the show. They brought Kenny’s daughter out on stage as a surprise and he cried. Kenny never said he thought Lee was a racist, but was just constantly picking at him.
-The Kenny and Lee debate took over a majority of the show. Essentially they were all trying to get Lee to admit he’s a racist, and of course, he never did. They did show his old tweets on the video screen. Lee basically apologized, said he’s learning, wants to become more educated about things, be better person, etc.
-DeMario was only asked about his time on the show and nothing about BIP since that will be covered ad nauseum once the show begins. I’m not sure if what DeMario said about what happened on Rachel’s season will get shown because talked about how was set up by producers, this ex girlfriend was the one who wrote in to the show saying she knew him, he barely dated her, she was just a hookup, and she could never produce one picture with him because they were never that close. Can’t imagine they’ll show DeMario saying he was set up by producers, so lets see what happens with that.
-Whaboom and Blake were arguing at the beginning of the show over, well, exactly what they were doing on the show.
-There was no mention of Paradise at the MTA. Didn’t even show a preview for it or talk about it with the contestants who were in the audience. The ones that were there in attendance were: Alexis, Ben Z., Amanda, Raven, Jasmine, and Kristina.
-Rachel came out to address the guys and not a whole hell of a lot happened. Dean asked her about her saying she was falling in love with him then immediately cut him after that. Rachel said she was but that their relationship wasn’t on the level as it was with the others. This segment was said to be not all that exciting.
-Bloopers were shown.
-Soooooo yeah, that’s the basics. The Kenny/Lee stuff is talked about a lot, and race relations became the main topic of the show. So get ready for that.

Bryan has bypassed Jef Holm as my least liked contestant, but Bryan is still behind Nick. I like Rachel. She deserves much better than that cheese wheel ? The plus to her choosing Bryan is that he will not be The Bachelor! I’d skip that like I skipped Nick’s season!

I am a long-time reader and have listened to every podcast, but I just have to say that Steve’s choice to interview McCarthy, and then his subsequent decision to play soft-ball with her is just so, so irresponsible. He prides himself on being open and honest and asking that the contestants he interviews answer the tough questions, but the minute he gets a minor celebrity on, he just turns into a puddle of complementary mush? I find that to be pretty disingenuous.
Jenny McCarthy’s claim that vaccine’s cause autism (which is completely inaccurate and has been disproven time and time again) is one of the reasons the anti-vaxx movement has picked up steam in recent years and has put so many people at risk. The decision to have her on and NOT address that is a completely irresponsible and short-sighted one. Very disappointed in this.

I am no fan of Jenny McCarthy. However, I’d like to think that parents with autistic children are NOT relying on a D list celebrity for medical advice. If they are wise, they will rely upon their doctors.

I guess we will have to see how long Rachel and Bryan last. I wonder how many interviews his mom will accompany him to. She may want to move in with them too lol.
For the reader e-mail about which seasons were worth watching: Sean’s was my favorite. Sean himself isn’t that exciting of a personality, it’s the women in the house (Tiara mainly). Chris’ season for Kelsey then the elimination date in the Badlands.
Steve shouldn’t be discussing the anti-vaccination movement with Jenny McCarthy, this is an entertainment site. I agree with his decision not to.
I wonder if DeMario did all these controversies on purpose. Every time he’s on a show, he’s in the middle of something. That video proves it.
Is Kaitlyn going into music? She snapped something about a song writing session?

Agreed re Sean’s season being an especially good one–I was thinking “huh?” when Steve mentioned Ben H. and not Sean.
Steve: “Peter checks all the boxes in the style and looks department, and that’s good enough for the female audience.” Not for this female. I don’t like Peter because he’s blah, too resentful of Bryan, and seems like he’s only interested in being the next Bachelor. The show has been receptive to who viewers want to see as next Bach, so I’m looking forward to Steve’s prediction about Peter not coming true. I’d take Dean or Eric over him for the next lead.

I agree about Peter – just don’t get the fascination. He’s very blah, but that’s okay for The Bachelor since the women will be front and center. Rachel always has to demand affection from him and it just comes naturally with Bryan. Those two have a spark for sure, most likely chemical attraction at this point. I don’t get all the hate for Bryan. I like him, and I’m pretty sure the show exaggerated his mother’s attachment to him. LOL Peter came in wanting to be The Bachelor, and Bryan came in wanting Rachel.
