Hey Steve! Thanks for all the spoilers. Makes it easier to watch. Some questions….
1. It’s inevitable that Tyler and Gigi were going to be outed. I mean she’s one of the most followed celebrities. No one blames them for living their life and going bowling and them getting papped. It’s bound to happen. But didn’t it strike you as a little strange that they went to a VMA party together? People as famous as Gigi, whose every move is watched, typically try to keep their relationship private for as long as possible so that it can maybe be shielded from scrutiny and public opinions. And it hasn’t even been a month that they’ve been hanging out. I just don’t really understand it. Publicity? But all their interactions have been caught by paparazzi, so, it shouldn’t be really that surprising he was her date to the VMA’s.
2. Heard that Mike made some comments about the women on paradise that weren’t so nice. Behind the scenes or on camera? Did that affect his bachelor gig? Haven’t heard that.
3. If you had to guess (I know, you probably want to say all) which couple do you think has the best chance of making it outside of paradise, maybe based on info you have or things you’ve heard? Engaged or just in a relationship. Lets exclude Demi and Kristian since they had a previous relationship and more time. Chris and Katie? I don’t know.
4. Good luck at your draft! Top three picks you’re gunning for? Boyfriend had his draft last week and some he took were McCaffrey, Julio Jones and Ebron. Needless to say, he’s not too happy about having Ebron anymore lol
Comment: That seems a little high for Ebron, no? No one should be taking a tight end in the 3rd round.

What’s the policy on drugs in Paradise? I remember reading that there was a zero tolerance policy after the shutdown a few years ago, but is that still in effect? Would contestants be able to purchase drugs there, or are they basically in sight of production the entire time?
Comment: Ha ha, no. You can’t wander off set and buy drugs last time I checked. And you’re drug tested before coming on the show, so if you fail, you won’t get cast.

I heard on a different podcast that Dean and Caelynn are represented by the same management company (and they met prior to paradise in that building)… Dean’s “bachelor relationships are fake for money” and Caelynn’s attitude towards him (and that he leaves with him eventually…) make me wonder if they had some prearrangement with their management team for the fame/followers/couple endorsements short term. Is this even a thing? Looking forward to hearing their update from the reunion….I haven’t heard that but I guess it’s possible. She said on the WTA she DM’ed him years ago before she was ever on Colton’s season, so I gotta believe they’ve had some interaction before Paradise.
Also, as a viewer this season of BIP seems so serious and I’ve enjoyed it less (maybe because of the text release the first week). Have you heard any of that feedback from anyone inside on how it was since Elan is gone? I recently started following him on Instagram and he seems pretty interesting. I wonder if I’m enjoying it less because of his loss of perspective producing or maybe it’s just that social media has turned it into a 24 hour a day program! It’s exhausting!

Even before I watched the wedding of Krystal and Chris, I had the feeling that production staged all this drama to be at the wedding. Hopefully, the bride and groom were compensated well. What are you thoughts on this?
Comment: Yes, couples that get married on this show get paid. Not all make the same amount, but they do get paid, and have stuff paid for along with family and friends getting airfare and hotel.

Question about the dean situation. What day did dean leave Mexico and what day did he get back to take Caelynn with him? Did he ever even leave Mexico? Seems it was more producer driver for more drama.

Comment: I’m not sure how many days were in between. But yes, he did leave Mexico. I think he even tells her when he comes back he went to the Grand Canyon or something and had an epiphany.

Hi Steve,
I’ve noticed this season that “status” seems to mean more everyone on the show than anything else when it comes to relationships and attractions. For example if a guy or girl made it farther on their season and or has more Instagram followers, they are a more appealing mate than someone who didn’t make it as far regardless of their attractiveness, intelligence or any other factor. I’ve been kind of sickened watching it. It feels like many of them are all there in hopes of boosting their fame, not finding love. Obviously chasing fame is nothing new, but do you feel like this has become more of a thing than it used to be? I also thought it was completely classless and awkward how Chris and Crystal gathered everyone around and only included the highest status bachelor nation people to attend their party. I mean who do these people think they are? Some of them seem to think they are pretty important and “better” than others. I used to feel like the relationships on this show felt a little more authentic.
Comment: There’s definitely a pecking order when it comes to this franchise, but it’s always been that way. Always been very high school clique-y.

So Nick Viall gave you a shout out today on his podcast. Did you hear? Basically said he was ‘sitting around at work watching your spoilers come up’-when he got the call to come on BIP. I thought that was super cool for him to give you props. Have you asked Nick to come on your podcast? I would love that!!
Comment: I’ve heard through the grapevine that there’s no way Nick would ever come on my show. So I’ve never asked.
And I’ve talked about how awkward it would be even if he did, since I know things about him that he doesn’t know I know. So if I ask him something I already know the answer to, and he tells me a different answer, then I have to call him a liar to his face, which, I don’t necessarily have a problem doing to anybody. HOWEVER, I would have to give a source on how I would know such a thing, and that’s not something I would do. So I just think things would be too negative all around. But sure, there are definitely things I’ve wanted to ask him over the years. Although, I think there’d be so much push back on his end to my questions I don’t know how good it would be.
So I guess it’s something I could do and not just get into the personal stuff. Because we disagree on a lot of things within this franchise. I listened to his interview with Tanner this morning, and yeah, Nick is Team Demi, so no matter what you say in regards to Demi, he’s gonna defend her. And I’m not Team Demi, so he and I would just go in a circle on her. It’d probably be quite a frustrating podcast to do. But again, I’ve heard through the grapevine he’d never come on my podcast, so it’s pretty much a moot point. But if he did, it sure would be interesting. I think that’s what people want. I’ve been asked to have him on for years. Ball is in his court.

Hi Steve – long time reader and fan. Thanks for everything you do! A few comments and questions:
I feel like this season on BIP is a bit more of a sh*t show than usual. I don’t really feel invested in any of the relationships this season but despite my negativity, I continue to watch loyally like everyone else! Anyway A lot of the crazy behavior/drama HAS to be the result of everyone being hammered? Most of these people can’t even form coherent sentences. Is it just me but I feel like everyone is drunk all the time??? I can’t think of another explanation. I wouldn’t say all the time. But a lot.
The JPJ/Derek drama seemed to come out of nowhere. It’s funny, Derek was getting this great edit with Demi and how he reacted to her relationship and now he’s getting some negativity from JPJ. I think JPJ is acting out of jealousy BUT I also think there could be some truth to his accusations. I have a hard time believing that many of these people are really looking for love anymore, it’s about a social media following instead. I believe that he does really have feelings for Tayshia though I’m a bit confused as to why he was getting so worked up, he was making out with two other girls AND had his hands allll over Hayley, like, a day ago? And now Hayley is old news, I think we barely saw her speak in tonight’s episode. There’s definitely more to that whole scene, but unfortunately, only Derek and JPJ really know what was said. Am I shocked by the accusations that JPJ threw out? Is it impossible to believe that a male from this franchise used his status on the show to take advantage of fans and get laid? Absolutely not. Plenty of them do it. So to sit here and say “No way Derek ever did that or said it” would be naïve. But I don’t have proof he did either, so it’s a he said, he said at this point. Just the accusation itself in a vacuum definitely isn’t hard to believe though since we know it goes on all the time.
Some other questions:
Do bachelor nation couples promptly ditch their friends they would have had before they were on the show and semi insta-famous? 95% of the people at Chris and Chrystal’s wedding were Bach nation people. Did they have a separate wedding back home with friends and family and this one was just for show? Why didn’t her father walk her down the aisle ? (Unless her father isn’t in her life and I’m a huge jerk for questioning). Also inviting only some of the BIP cast to the after party seemed weird to me, I don’t understand the point of that. Were the chosen ones just closer friends, or was this some kind of stunt by production to encourage drama ?
Comment: We remember that Krystal didn’t have the greatest of family lives growing up from when she was on Colton’ season. She told that story a couple times. So I don’t know who from her family was there at all (we barely saw Chris’ family too), if any. But yeah, if you get a televised wedding, they are going to focus on bringing back former cast members. Chris’ whole wedding party was guys that weren’t on the show, yet, we don’t see much of them. It’s basically the deal you sign up for when you agree to let ABC handle the wedding. Yeah, it’s nice to get paid and have a lot of expenses paid for, but, you’re at their mercy of who’s invited to your wedding and who isn’t.

I just have a quick question, & I’m assuming there’s probably no straight answer but I just figured I’d throw it out there: Do you know why Connor wasn’t one of the OG cast members of BIP, or came in sooner than he did? I just figured that he would be more of a staple cast member since he was one of the more popular guys on Hannah’s season. Thanks!
Comment: I believe Connor was there from the very beginning, but for whatever reason, sat in the hotel for two weeks before they brought him on. Guess they figured they’d wait til the Dean stuff played out before bringing him in since they knew Caelynn was interested in him.
