-So because Rachel’s sister was 8 months pregnant, they switched it up this season (as you knew months ago), and Rachel had her final 3 meet her family (instead of the final 2) in Dallas, before heading off to overnights. And also reported while this was happening, was that because Rachel’s dad is a federal judge, they could not do any filming at their house for security purposes obviously. That house they used wasn’t even a relatives. It was a house in the highly affluent neighborhood of Highland Park that was for sale. So they just swooped on in and pretended it was her family’s. It happens. Peter even commented “You have beautiful home,” to which her mother said, “Thank you.” Ahhh the magic of TV.
-Before they met her family though, they went shopping for her sisters newborn to a local boutique in Dallas called Sweet as Sugar for some baby clothes. I’m not sure what children Peter has bought for before, but he was basically clueless. Then again, outside of buying pink clothes for a boy or vice versa, can you really go wrong with purchasing baby clothes? Parents just want as many as they can get. I don’t think they’re worried about style on a newborn. We’ve seen what some parents dress their kids in. Just sayin’.
-Since Peter has been more reserved about his feelings than the other two up to this point, he made it a point to pull Rachel aside before they went in the rented house to talk about his updated feelings. Which was that he was falling in love with her. Because if you don’t even broach that subject in the final 3, you’re basically done. I’m sure this was done at producer prodding because I don’t believe for a second he was ever in love with her, falling in love with her, or even almost falling in love with her. Eric and Bryan were back at the hotel talking about this as well and Bryan relayed to Eric that Peter mentioned on their 1-on-1 he might not propose if picked, to which Eric responded “What’s his protocol for being here?” Ummmm, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say “To be the Bachelor.” Then you might follow that with, “But on the Bachelor he’ll be expected to propose,” and I’ll say, “Yeah, exactly. And he will. Because that’s his storyline.” It’s already being set up.
-Peter tells the family that he’s not ready to lose Rachel, which seemed to be a line that they liked. But he also expressed his skepticism about everything that the show entails, which also they seemed to like as well. Basically, they were setting this “hometown” up so that people who don’t read spoilers and are clueless, or even the ones that know the Bryan spoiler will be like, “How does she pick the guy who her family thinks is insincere.” Ahhhhh, again, the magic of TV. When Peter was talking to Rachel’s mother, he reiterated that he probably wasn’t ready to propose, so he didn’t ask for blessing for that, but just her blessing to date her daughter. Wait, huh? You have to ask parents now if you can date their daughter? I had no idea of such a thing.
